Pop icon Michael passed away in June 2009 of acute Propofol intoxication by intravenous injection of another. Propofol is a powerful anaesthetic usually given to surgery patients to help them sleep, and Michael’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray has pleaded not guilty to his involuntary manslaughter.

Since his death Michael’s mom Katherine has been caring for his three kids, Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 12 and nine year old Prince Michael II, known as ‘Blanket’. While he was alive Michael was renowned for keeping his children out of the limelight. He made them cover their faces in public and they were schooled at home, but Katherine has decided to relax things.

“It’s something which my mother had made a decision on. She felt she wanted to unmask the kids, she wanted them to be normal and they love it,” Michael’s sister La Toya explained to TV Guide's Julie Moran, in an interview airing this weekend.

“They’re doing very well, extremely well, I’m very proud of them. It’s interesting because Paris said to me, ‘Auntie La Toya you look just like my father, when I see you it reminds me of my father.’ And I said, ‘Really?’ she goes, ‘Yeah.’”

La Toya also spoke about how she discovered her brother had died. She was on her way to see him after discovering he had been hospitalised when her mother imparted the news, with La Toya explaining Katherine could find no easy way to explain what had happened.

“I was on the way to the hospital and I asked to speak to my mother’s assistant. I said, ‘Can you tell me which building you guys are in or where you are?’ She grabbed the phone and goes, 'He's dead', as loud as she could. She was overwhelmed by sadness and that just blurted out of her mouth,” La Toya said. “When I arrived there [the hospital] she was just sitting there with the kids all in her lap crying.”

Michael's children and Michael have been more normal than you and ur tribe of leeches. FFS, Michael raised them NORMAL. If they r normal today its because of Michaels hard work of 12 years and not because of 2 years they spent with you people!
 
Michael's children lived normally with their father, their masks was only a small inconvenient which would've eventually not proved so, for as grown-ups, would've enjoyed the freedom of not being known and bothered as he was. Take Elizabeth Taylor's example, people to this day don't know (the public) what her children look like, what they do and so on. ..

They're clueless and most of them are not too capable of empathy and true wisdom... Sorry for the bluntness, but to say such enormities on TV... I wish those children would be left alone and some of the Jacksons stop giving/selling all these creepy graphic details to the media... What a nightmare, Lord...
 
Normal is an iffy term because normal is different depending on your situation. We know she doesn't mean they were strange but wearing masks and veils is not something you see everyday. They were starting to wear diguises less by the time Michael passed away anyways but I'm glad they don't wear the mask at all anymore, they were getting too big for that and go to school and mingling more with non celebs will help them transition better as adults. Michael did a great job raising them as individuals and Katherine has been doing a good job since.
 
I just wish people would stop saying they are "normal" now. Or say it differently because it makes it sound like when they were with Michael they were not normal. Maybe she didn't imply it in a bad way but for people who don't like Michael it just comes across badly in my opinion. Michael deserves a lot of credit for his parenting. It feels like that isn't emphasized enough.
 
Yes normal lives. Selling them to a porn producer, having them on TV, and letting a stalker hang around them is so normal. Stupid

Here we go with the idea that Katherine has magical powers to turn already normal children into normal children. Now it seems the whole family thinks that because when Robin said it in front of Katherine, Katherine did not disagree. Here we see Latoya using the same word. I wonder if she thinks the children would be happy hearing this statement from her. Soon the kids will say "we have always been normal" and put an end to this nonsense.

Crazy just like the tabloids called Michael and his family. It's interesting how you say "your raggedy family" as if Michael and his kids were a part of your family and not hers.
 
According to this article, La Toya states that Mrs. Jackson wanted the children to be normal. I wonder how many times did she tell Michael that his children were not normal. You would think that his family would know all the BS assumptions that Michael had to put up with in regards to him as a person and as a father; and because of that knowledge, you would think that they would not contribute to it continuing on after his death.

What all of them need to be saying is how thankful they are to Michael for being such a wonderful parent that this transition hasn't been any harder for Mrs. Jackson than it has because her grandchildren were raised to be smart, respectful, caring, and normal.

It never ends that they try to take credit for Michael's doing. Jermaine and others did the same with their statements about how there would be no astronomical fame for Michael if it hadn't been for the Jackson 5 days, etc.

It is getting old and tiring. And I really don't care how she really meant it. At some point they need to think about how their words can be interpreted.

Oh, and from the information we have gotten, the children did mingle with non-celeb children way before Mrs. Jackson became their guardian; home school is not "un-normal" (at this point people still can't get used to the idea that some are home-schooled--my word!), and the masks were for a purpose that the children seemed to get (sadly adults are the ones acting "un-normal" by acting as if they can't get it also).

I totally have no idea how come those kids chased by paparazzi with all their private video pictures all over the internet, promote a shady charity, signing belt to sale etc will be called normal?
I guess the Jackson family have different definition for the word "normal".
All of these statement from MJ's siblings and even his own mother made me really sad.
It seemed that even his own family think he was weird. SIGH
 
PPB in companion with MJJ did wear masks for protection. Without MJJ, his kids didn't need masks, they freely enjoyed their time with friends, because media didn't know how they look like. Only a few months before MJJ was killed, there were occasions when kids didn't wear masks. Why would kids still wear masks, with MJJ gone?

MJJ was focal point for paparazzi. With out MJJ, kids are not the focal points for media, as MJJ was. Media chased only, and only MJJ, they just wanted HIM on the cover of magazine since J5 era.

The obsession of media with MJJ was undescriptive. Media harasses other artists, but with MJJ, they were fascinated, and brutal at the same time.

With kids, I don't see the fascination. I think only hardcore MJJ fans do care, the rest don't tune on TV to watch them, as they did with MJJ.

That's been said, the kids don't need masks anymore. Simple as that. In my opinion, some do think: MJJ is gone and maybe the spot light will be shifted on kids. But, doesn't really work that way. A lot of people I know, are fans of MJJ music, period. They don't care what PPB are doing in free time, only because they are MJJ's kids :sigh:

But, it is too early to speak about "normality" under Katherine's watch. Definitively, is nothing normal having kids bind in some shady business deals, turning kids against estate (having them on board with HTWF, whilst estate is suing the charity :rtfm:).

Too much exposure to the media at such young age, is not good : trial, Alejandra + her kids eviction problems, HTWF, Mann gay porn producer around.

When they were with MJJ, he made sure to enjoy their childhood, I doubt he engage them into business talks, or countless lawsuits he dealt with. MJJ educated them to be strong individuals, but he didn't overload them with his problems, or bind them into business deals. Homeschooling is very normal in USA. I read that Jermaine kids are still home-schooled.Michael was the best parent, out there, Paris speech spoke volumes, it was the most heart wrenching speech.

With Katherine, I have feelings, kids are going to taste the bitter side of life, too soon, if not yet.

If Katherine would be just a grandma, not trying to be also a business woman, things would have been much better for everyone. I have feeling, on the long run, normality will be thrown out the window.

By the way, it wasn't cool for Katherine to say on national TV, that MJJ kids didn't have friends, and only their friends are their cousins.
Which we know it is not true. Malnik, and Lester kids were amongst their friends. We have seen lots of pics with them, and others, when MJJ was alive, but not many pics of MJJ kids with their cousins.

I wish Katherine good luck, because she is not heading to a right direction with the business, she has started with Mann, and her "war" against estate.
Life is 2 short, at her age, she should enjoy her life. The manslaughter trial, is going to take toll on them. Reality, really hit PPB hard. I wish them all the best.

FYI a Michael Jackson =/= A Jacksons' board...time for folks to wake up to that fact.

MJ should be commanded for stepping away from his family...it takes a strong man to realize your own family is dragging you down and to walk away from their unhealthy & greedy ways.

Maybe Miss LaToya should keep the focus of her interviews on her Donald Trump Reality Show appearance, instead of the CONSTANT blow-by-blow updates regarding Michael's children.

I mean, when Michael was alive, she NEVER said a word about his children. Is this the ONLY way she can get some media attention? It appears so, in my opinion.

The actions of the Jackson Family CONTINUES to amaze me! (Not all of them, but shoot, dang near all of them!)

There is no tolerance and second chances when it comes to Michael Jackson and his children and he is being thrown under the bus since the day he's died repeatedly by his relatives. That is where I draw my line, for the longest time I tried to give those people the benefit of a doubt, but what they've been doing since he died it's impossible to sweep everything they do under a rag and continue to uphold a front. I'm a MICHAEL fan, I've always been here for Michael, and Michael only, I could care less about the rest of the tribe that backstabbed Michael on numerous occassions repeatedly. Period, Period.

I think it's safe to say that at one point, MOST of us tried to give the Jackson's the benefit of the doubt, but little by little the veil was lifted, to the point where you HAD to say to yourself: "Hey, what's going on here!"

In the beginning, I figured that the Jackson family would be the NEW version of the Goldman family (Ron Goldman's family from the O.J. Simpson case), that they would be out there on the front-lines, fighting for justice and knocking down any and ALL rumors regarding Michael. Well I was very, VERY wrong, the Jackson family is nothing like the Goldman family, when it comes to justice for their blood!

And I learned that the hard way, just like many, many others did.

I guess almost none of them are taking the children seriously when they say/said he was just a normal parent, best father ever, best cook, best anything to them (like on the Oprah show, and Michael's memorial (can't really fathom this association to this day...). ...
Just sad and depressing, sometimes I should just develop some thick skin so that I don't feel too much... it is too depressing they're no longer with their father and under his physical protection anymore. Too depressing.

Oh my I know what a waste! I also hope they would have been like the Goldman's too! But, I kinda knew judging by the past that they just wouldn't be....:no: To much ego, jealously, attention seekers & money hungry people in that family! Straight up!

LaToya likes to keep the media apprised as to what is going on in the lives of Michael's 3-children, but I notice that she NEVER talks about her relationship with that dude who always appears to be at her side.

I guess just like Janet, there are somethings that they are NOT willing to discuss with the media! They are QUICK to say: "No Comment," when you ask them questions about their OWN personal lives.
