Wow I spent a few hours looking through all that
he has some amazing pieces _ beautiful ceramics
and artwork _ and really not that expensive for
what they are - the are priced at market value
not overpriced because they belong to MJ

This is truly depressing to see. It's like an end of an era really. To see prize possessions go like they weren't anything is really sad. I won't go on with it because most will say, oh it's just getting rid of the old and making room for the new...
But for those of us who watch him grow up and saw his career bloom to where it was...it's sad.

It's things too that fans have given him over the years. What happens to this stuff? I know a few of my things were in the pile.

And those who think you can go and sign up and bid on this stuff...know what your doing before you do it. That's all I'll say. All these items are going up for a huge price. Not a buck or two. Even that old Peter Pan book is going to fetch a lot of money.

But what gets me with this auction is why is he giving away "gifts" his own children gave him. That's bugs me. A parent always keeps his child's gifts to cherish. And that painting of Prince...why on earth give that away?

confusing and depressing:(

i feel the same as you do Maggie.
For me it is kind of heartbreaking...gifts from his children :( (and also fans.:)

Where does it say, gifts from Michael's children?

Where does it say, gifts from Michael's children?
i have heard that this was a gift from his kids, and inside is written their name

i saw an article bout it today in our local paper
and they had some pics of the stuff were gonna be put in auction

Wow, those charges really stack up:

Registration fee (pre-auction): $25
final selling price = $0 - $49000: 25% of final price
Auction network 'buyer's premium': 3%
Shipping (asses fee): $45 for up to 3 lots
local delivery: $95 per hour (minimum 2 hours)

I was seriously considering buying something in the auction, but with these extra charges, even something relatively cheap become expensive.

You got to pay $25 just to take register!

It's that from the Dangerous Video? Haven't watched it in awhile...
ya, i just checked it on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkFKKZtgU34

it is just very similar i think not the same.
About the kids present: it is in this article
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/feb/15/michael-jackson-neverland

"King Michael" even had a royal cape, a Father's Day present inscribed inside with a message from his children "Princess Paris" and "Prince Michael".

hmmm, that is strange. Maybe the paper has it wrong. Michael of all people, really cannot see him giving away gifts from his children. :(
ya, i wish that they are wrong about it....maybe there will be later photo of it where we can see also the kids name. Maybe in the catalogue they will put like that

I understand why he is selling out all the neverland stuff and personal stuff he has there..but I don't get why he is selling his most important awards and outfits, that's really sad, only fallen artists do that, and only for money, hope there is an other reason for that.

I don't see any indication that he is selling ALL of his important awards. What makes you think that he is selling ALL of his important awards? Give or take, how many awards do you think MJ has collected over the years?

Same thing goes with the jackets and gloves. He must have double, maybe triple of everything ever made for his stage act. And let's not even try to guess how many "gloves" he has. LOL!

USA for Africa awards, and others, all the famous jackets of the thriller era and so on (soon there will be the official list)...
people said he is not the one who is paying the rent for his house and that he has been forced to sell out his privat stuff like the portrait of his son, his wards and memorabilia! and the presents his friends gave him during the years, but they allowed him to say he is doing it on his will. Don't know if those things are true.. but the facts he is selling out very cheaply his awards, presents, portraits makes me think.

gee all that furniture...hoard much lol. Michael has his reasons guys. Awards don't make the man, he doesn't even care about them. His art came first THEN the awards. As far as more personal things go like gifts, firstly, we don't know who purchased those gifts on behalf of prince/paris- there could be bad vibes there and secondly if the gift was given between 03 & 05 I don't think mike wouldve felt like a particularly good dad as nevvy got raided again & again. Kids aren't stupid they know when dad is down & out. I'd suggest michael keep things like silly drawings kids do and that means ALOT more than any gift.

I see no reason for concern here. It's all gotta go and it's the right move for him. That was then this is now and material objects are not important. People and tastes change. :)

I would like to believe in that, but the gifts here are autographed items by Michael Jordan and others...can't see how bad they could have been! We are talking about Reagan letters, about the Victory tour jackets and so on... can it be possible he hates those things? People in the fan world say he is forced to sell those things so cheaply! hope it is not true

Just think there is a much bigger picture going on here that we can't understand u less we have been in his shoes. I don't accept it is about money. If he really just needs folding there are so many ways he could get it. This is a cleansing. Stripping back the layers yknow? I find it admirable actually

Okay a few things:

First of all what PEOPLE said that MJ is not paying for his rental home? LOL! Tell me who is paying MJ's $100,000 per month rent? If he got somebody to pay that much money for his rent EACH month, then he is one lucky son-of-a-gun.

Second, we should wait until the list is revealed, because I still say that MJ has more than one of every outfit he has performed in. And keep in mind that the Grammy Hall of Fame just acquired some of MJ's performance jackets, which are now on display in NYC.

Third, and more importantly, one of Julien's (the auction guy) first comments upon viewing some of MJ's items is that "MJ just has too much stuff to keep up with." Now this comment comes from a person who has actually seen some of MJ's belongs and I believe him.

Now back to WHO is paying MJ's $100,000 rent?

Michael's never cared about material things. Remember how he told Geraldo that he'll take a piece of expensive jewlery or whatever and just give it to you if you compliment it even? That's how he is. He doesn't care about those kinds of things.

The cape was given to him in 1998, when Prince was 1 year old and Paris was about few months, I don't think the kids remember giving it to him.:cheeky:

gee all that furniture...hoard much lol.

LOL! That's the same word, i.e. HOARDINGS, that Martin Nowlan used while describing MJ's belongings. Martin Nowlan is co-owner of Julien's Auctions and since he has seen some of the stuff, up close and personal, he should know.

When I see the word "HOARDINGS," it reminds me of a picture I saw of MJ's bedroom. There was stuff EVERYWHERE. LOL! And that was just one room.

hm then maybe it is not that cape....it will be an another, i bet soon we will find out when that catalogue will be online as well:)

but I don't get why he is selling his most important awards and outfits,
well they are obviously not his most important things or he wouldnt be selling them. and mtv award important? err hardly.ppl need to stop being drama queens and turning into media brainwashed followers.

Now back to WHO is paying MJ's $100,000 rent?
the tooth fairy didnt you know lol

According to article in People magazine, this Jacket is one of the auction items.
From his performance at RFK Stadium/Washington D.C. "What More Can I Give" after 9/11 concert.
