I wonder what the general public think of them. Naturally at first there is sympathy but now all these things are too much.

Michael Jackson Tribute Concert Big on Hoopla, Short on Details
http://www.billboard.com/events/mic...ribute-concert-big-on-hoopla-1005292122.story

Michael Jackson's family held a press conference in Beverly Hills on Monday (July 25) morning to announce a tribute concert for their brother, who died two years ago. Aside from a location, a date and a name for the event, the famous family played coy with the details.

Set for Oct. 8, "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" will take over Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, where organizers Global Live Events hopes to attract 75,000 fans. Just what fans will be hearing will be announced online in small increments over the next two weeks. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 4.

The King of Pop's siblings Marlon, Jackie, Tito and La Toya, as well as family matriarch Katherine, attended the announcement. The 81-year-old Katherine said the concert would be a "world-class event" and a fitting tribute to her son, who died in 2009 at age 50.

Michael's brothers did not take questions at the announcement and would not confirm if they would be performing. According to Global Live Events, the concert be broadcast over the Web live in both 2D and 3D.

"I know my brother would be very, very proud to see all the artists that he admired and respected so much coming together for this event," Tito Jackson said.

La Toya Jackson promised that the "tribute will be something that's spectacular."

Father Joe and siblings Janet, Jermaine and Randy were not in attendance.

Before fans can get too excited about traveling to Wales, there may be a legal fight ahead. The executor's of Michael Jackson's estate have not been approached about the use of the singer's name, estate spokesman Jim Bates told CNN shortly after the press conference.

I wonder what the general public think of them. Naturally at first there is sympathy but now all these things are too much.

They're mostly disgusted by them and wish they would go away.

This family has no shame! To do all this in the name of "charity" and "trust funds for Michael's kids" is ludicrous. First of all, what Charity? And second, Michael's kids are made for life. They don't have to lift a finger if they don't want to ever seeing how much money the estate has made for them since their dad died. Who are they trying to kid? Branca/McClain - do something to stop this!

Tito, Jackie and Marlon don't make me lose the respect I have for you.

And smh at Jermaine. While he may not support the concert due to the date it's scheduled, he's still gonna be pimping his book and going on book tours during the same time. Different tactic, but same motive.

Furthermore, the decision to proceed with this concert disrespects opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms to Global Live during conversations in April when this event was presented to the majority of the family as an idea already in its advanced stages.

I smell more than an innapropriate date due to the trial.

Worst Press Conference Ever: Jacksons Announce Tribute Concert in Friggin' Wales
By Ben Westhoff Mon., Jul. 25 2011 at 1:23 PM

?"Reminder to photographers: If you get out of your seat, you'll get kicked out," warned the flack at the Beverly Hills Hotel, shortly before the arrival of five Jacksons and three white guys, there to announce the details of the big Michael Jackson tribute concert.

Only, they really didn't announce anything, other than location -- Millennium Stadium, which is in Cardiff, which is in Wales -- and the date, October 8th. Some charities were also namedropped, one having to do with the Princess of Wales, naturally, and the AIDS Project Los Angeles. In fact, La Toya ceded the floor to a representative from that org, only to be told that he wasn't here because he'd been in a car accident on the way over. (I will sort of resist the urge to make a joke about La Toya's face freezing upon hearing the news.)

As for the performers, well, those will be rolled out as slowly as first week sales of 20 Y.O., starting tomorrow. There will be more press conferences and video feeds to hype up the event but, even if they have more fresh blackberries, chocolate croissants and a piano player doing "Rock with You" I won't be back.

Why?

Ben Westhoff
?It's not that the Jacksons didn't look great; in fact, they're all aging spectacularly. La Toya, dressed in a shoulder-less black jacket with golden leaves overlaid with, um, gold leaf, has somehow lapped Janet in the looks Olympics. Otherwise, their aesthetic appeals can be best conveyed quantitatively.
Number of Jacksons Wearing Sunglasses: Two, Jackie and Marlon.
Number of Jacksons Wearing Hats: One, Tito.
Style of Tito's Hat: Bowling.

Marlon noted that the press had taken shots at the family before (wha?!), but that the warmth in the room right now made up for it. This was shortly after a guy screamed at me for raising my arms to take a cameraphone picture.

Jackson Who Talks Most Like Michael: Jackie. "It's gonna be one of the biggest concerts ever," he said in a near-whisper.
Jackson Who Looks Most Like Michael: La Toya, duh.

She added that Michael was in the Guinness Book for giving to the most charities, which I'm willing to believe. My nominee for the book? Chris Hunt, from Global Live Events, the folks putting on this extravaganza, which is by the way called the Michael Forever Tribute. His Record? Most Disingenuous Charitable Donation in History, by way of the $100,000 trust fund he announced for Prince, Paris, and Blanket, which will mature when they turn 21. Katherine proceeded to accept a check or a promissory note or something from him, further cementing the myth that this event wasn't mainly about making each of these panelists wealthier.

I shouldn't complain, though, considering I got something myself.

Im surprised that joesph wasnt there cuz this would be something he would do. Then again he probably is involved in the background but it disgusts me they have done this

when you don't think this family can get any more ludicrous....they do! SMH!

Unbelievable! Jackson family never stop to surprise me. Poor Michael.. This is why he need to distance himself from his own family. I just hope PPB can group up safe in this "great united"family.

MJ Estate: “The Estate has not been contacted and is not involved with Global Live Events in the UK tribute concert announced today.”

So i take it the cheque for the kids was written out to the estate of mj? Yeah right.what a disgusting way to get payment by using the kids..just when u think they cant get any tackier they do.

In other words the kids have about as much of a chance of seeing that $100,000 as I do. SHOOT!!! That money is probably already spent.

Katherine looks very sad in those pics at the press conference

As far as I heard he was celebrating his birthday with that happyland lady in Asia. They probably arranged the press conference on this day to make sure he was far away and couldn't crash this party lol

This is just ridiculous. I really feel bad for Michael - imagine all the harassment he got from them for the stupid J5 reunion. Urgh.

Exactly.and when the concert doesnt happen.or is a loss the jacksons will get sued for the 100k and we will have another moonies situation.

so in the event that this event DOES go on, big celebrities do perform and all the money goes towards charity....
what will all you 'jackson bashers' say?

if you had paid an ounce of attention you'd know that ''all the money'' of this tribute concerts cannot go to charity. The charity donation is not included in the ticket price. Besides this thing is supposed to happen on October 8, that's only a bit over 2 months away seein as we're in late July, the performers haven't even been finalized yet. You think the likes of Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Spears, Ke$ha, Katy Perry, all the ''big stars of today'' have the dates to perform on that day? The only way this is gonna work is to get today's acts. And I doubt those people are sitting around at home waiting for the Has Been Jackson's to call them up. Also the real question is, if this turns out as predicted, what will you ''Jackson stans'' say then? Will you make up a ridiculous excuse and blame it on a third party? Or will you be willing to face the truth and see the ray of light?

If all you have said does happen I would be delighted. The problem is we have seen this so many times before. The estate has not given the go ahead and after all they are in charge of anything and everything to do with Michael's name. Jermaine and Randy are not happy with the timing of the event given the fact that we may still be going through the Dr Murray trial. Celebrities taking part are yet to be announced which usually means nothing is in place. Maybe the family will prove me wrong but I remain cynical.

no. if what u say happens then sure..it'll be yet another failure to the jackson's name. i'm just ready to give them a chance. i'm sick of judging everyone who mentions michael's name. i'm sick of people saying katherine jackson doesnt love her son and what not. that women is grieving more than all of us put together and i wouldnt in hells name accuse her of some of the things people here are accusing her of. mj told us to love, not to judge, to let go of hatred. as mj fans i believe thats what we should b trying to do. i believe kj has made some silly decisions but....look i dunno. i don't want to offend everyone...i just wish we'd all just calm down a little

You guys crack me up with that Michael told us to love and not to judge. We are not Michael we do what we want. Quoting Michael's words has well "tight knit my ass"

If this actually happens, it will still be shocking and tactless in my book, considering what will be happening in LA at the same time. I dont hate anybody, but all we've seen so far from Michael's relatives has been nothing else than pathetic attempts to grab any cent they could using his name. The contempt I feel for them right now, they have earned over the last 25 months.

The concert will be broadcast around the world to 30 countries in both 2D and 3D. It's bound to be a major hit as the event is being produced by Global Live Events LLP, aworld-renowned event-based TV and DVD specialist with offices in London, New York and Los Angeles.

is this promoter is really well-known? I can't find their website.

also if we go by Michael's word, how come his holy family doesn't follow it?! SMDH @ the Jackson's and their stans.

OK, a silly question I know...but if this is a 'DVD specialist' company, why are they planning to broadcast this concert live over the web?

PS ..I love your siggy, SuperLee
