Michael Jackson artwork to be donated to L.A. Children's Hospital - by Katherine and MJ's kids

So they will end up in the hands of private collectors? What was the point of giving them to the hospital then? A donation would have been just the same. *confused*

I agree. More Michael Jackson stuff that should be in a museum will end up at somebody's home when no one will be able to enjoy it.

One report (KTLA I think) said most will be sold and the money will go to the hospital.

That would not surprise me...this hospital does a lot of fundraising, and these would be ideal items to include in a series of 'celebrity item ' auctions. I expect these drawings are worth much more to the hospital in financial terms than in decorative terms, especially given the need for security against theft. (I think most of the drawings are signed by MJ as well as by the children?)

It saddens me greatly that PPB have already 'had' to give these away (when their own emotional connection to them is likely to be higher than any patient in that hospital)...they could have loaned them for a set period, or even loaned them for a year or three to a series of hospitals...and this would have done the same amount of good for patients as the gift would...but then of course the hospital could not sell them.

I am waiting to hear what the estate decides about the ownership, and if confirmed that all drawings belong to BLS, I shall await to hear that he gives at least as many drawings of as good size and impact to PPB and / or to the estate.

A question for Ivy, please : Is it right that until early Spring this year, you had to pay tax on gifts valued at over $1m, but thetax rules changed in early 2011 such that you 'only ' have to pay tax on gifts over the value of $5million...quite a tax saving. I wonder if the Tohme Tohme letter timing has any bearing on this, or if the gift will be backdated , if agreed by the estate.

My heart goes out to these three beautiful kids... These photos made me so sad. Another reminder that their father is gone :(

I agree with what people said here, despite what the grown-ups might have wanted to achieve with this, the kids are doing wonderful things. I am sure they don't have any hidden agenda, they are just trying to do some good for the world like their father taught them, and it's beautiful. And their messages brought tears to my eyes...

But like most people here I am concerned about these drawings being in the hospital. I hope they are not stolen because they are worth a lot and can attact thieves.

I also hope the kids won't grow up hating the Estate. I'd rather they would team up with the Estate for charity work...

your post is perfect thank you...I was trying to find the words myself...but you already did. Also I just want to add..those three faces...are Micnael's music..his art and his legacy rolled into 1. I miss you Michael..

If these drawing go on sale, I hope the Estate buys them.

They first have to establish the true ownership of these items. It would be odd for the Estate to buy items if it turns out that they never belonged to BLS in the first place.

Didn't he say MJ did not want the collection split up....? I remember he was quoted saying the whole collection will go to one buyer as MJ did not want his art spread all over the place.

very good question. Me think they are trying to undercut the Estate here. so they are using the hospital to achieve the sale that got blotched by the Estate. The donation would look just as suspicious considering that at the same time they are appealing to people to donate via the "tribute" concert.

Yeah, but if the hospital actually sells the drawings, then they get the money, right? So what's the benefit for BLS? Or KJ?
Unless like it's been said before, it's a way to tie the hands of the Estate, b/c they would look bad if they protested against the gift, and if they dont, then implicitly, it could be understood that they agree the drawings are BLS's. Am I making any sense?

Hey that guy bret livingston, wasnt he a friend of lisa marie presley?

so I am confused. So is it a donation to the hospital or not. I can't understand why some of you're thinking the sketches would be go to sale after all?

Do you have these pictures already?

Personally I think this is lovely news despite any motives that might be behind it. The fact that a children's hospital is getting it is so wonderful and shows that Michael is very much loved and respected.

lovely pics by the way. The kids look great. Mrs Jackson looks well and Latoya looks good. Paris is a truly stunning looking young person!.

ooh the mj babies' messages made me cry. prince seems very mature and i love how his writing is a bit like mj's esp the signature. more mj happiness for kiddies :)

I get piss poor vibes from BLS. It's no coincidence his initials include the letters B S. He's a conman, and I hope the Estate manages to get the remaining pieces back before he profits off them.

I'm not buying the story that Michael gifted his entire collection to this man. Like I said before, Michael was more closer to David Nordhal. Why the heck would he give it all to BLS, if he had to pick an artist to gift his drawings? Not that I think he would. It's all a bunch of BS from BLS.

Wow, Paris will break a lot of hearts in her days, she looks so good.

I have to give it to them, this is - true or not or whatever might be behind it - one of the best things they could have done. The thought at least makes me happy...

Has anyone else said this today?
"Paris Jackson is stunningly beautiful.":nerd:

The intent of donating the pics to the hospital seems positive if done without thought of financial gain besides the hospital in the end. Exactly why these particular pics to a children's hospital, idk, unless because Michael chose to do drawings of these chairs (and other somewhat related subjects with his children in mind and indirectly they feel them appropriate in this instance).

"If" the pics were donated sincerely on everyone's part, then I don't personally see a problem with it, especially if the children feel it is a worthy act in all respects.

Didn't Michael do a vast number of drawings in his lifetime? Would this small number of paintings really matter in the long run, especially if his children feel positive about this situation? As far as the estate is concerned, I don't really see the connection if in fact Michael did give these pieces to the artist. It almost seems like a drop in the ocean in r/t what he did artistically over his lifetime.

As for LaToya being there, what can I say?
