No, yesterday one of the issues was the discussion (in private) of the questions for the jury.

Jury selection so far will start on Sept 8th.

Prior to that, both parts must know the other part's discovery and prosecutors are complaining they have not received info from 76 witnesses for the defense out of the 103 witnesses they included in their list.

So, next wednesday they will meet again to sort things out...

This short hearing was a “Status Update” on Pre-trial issues.
It pretty much led nowhere and both sides were asked to come back on Wednesday (August 11th) with some issues that need to be resolved by then.
The issues are:
To this day, not all Discovery has been shared between Defense and Prosecution. Prosecution wants to submit new Discovery which includes confidential information from third parties. It relates to some of Murray’s patients in form of prescription records/documents. Defense wants to view 3 items which are in LAPD custody even though they have already viewed them.
The Defense has not resolved the witness list issue since March. Out of 103 witnesses they listed, only the names of 76 of them have been given to the Prosecution and they still haven’t listed who they intend to call as witnesses during the trial. Defense’s response to this was that they can’t predict what witnesses they may finally be able to reach or find by next month when the trial starts.
The Judge seemed frustrated and threatened sanctions if they did not comply.
Next court hearing is on Wednesday, August 11th, 2011. Questionnaire drafts and submissions will also be addressed then.

That is my thing. It seems wanting a person who thinks Michael is an oddball is looking for a juror who will bring some strong bias into the jury room. Hopefully the jury will listen to the evidence and judge from that and not whether they like Michael or think him odd.

I wonder if they kept some of the questions from the last pool?

Guys I hope you are not right about a possible postponement because I can't stand the stress.

well hopefully they will get all the issues sorted so that this trial can move on...I wish it didn't have to even be...but seeing as it does have to...I hope we can just get it over with.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Defense lawyers for Michael Jackson's last doctor met Wednesday's deadline for handing over documents to prosecutors in the involuntary manslaughter case, clearing the way for the start of the trial in 29 days.
Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged with causing the pop star's death two years ago, was not present at Wednesday morning's hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
If jury selection stays on schedule, opening statements would probably be delivered during the last week of September, Judge Michael Pastor said.
Wednesday's hearing offered a peek into the previously secret defense witness list when it was revealed that a former office assistant for another doctor may testify about allegations that that doctor was giving Jackson drugs in his last months.
Jason Pfieffer, who worked as office manager and personal assistant for Dr. Arnold Klein, filed a legal action last week accusing the Beverly Hills dermatologist of supplying Jackson with prescription drugs during the last months of his life.
Klein previously sued Pfieffer in federal court, accusing him of embezzling millions of dollars while he worked for him.
Defense lawyer Ed Chernoff told the court Wednesday he intended to interview Pfieffer either Thursday or Friday of this week.
One potential roadblock to the trial starting on time was removed Wednesday when Deputy District Attorney David Walgren told the judge that the defense has provided a "much greater level of detail as to the status of the witnesses." Walgren had previously complained that information about 76 of the 103 witnesses on the defense list had not been disclosed.
Pastor made it clear that September 8 is still "our go date" for the start of jury selection, with opening statements sometime during the week of September 26. The trial would end around Thanksgiving, based on previous estimates by lawyers.
Several hundred potential jurors will be screened to determine if their personal lives would allow them to sit through a two-month trial. Those who pass that test will be given a questionnaire with more than 100 questions to determine if they are qualified to be jurors.
Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, was from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol, combined with other drugs, the Los Angeles coroner ruled.
Murray, whom Jackson hired to care for him as he prepared for his comeback concerts in London, is accused of administering the fatal dose.

Klien prescribed a small amount (upto 10 tablets) of muscle relaxers in nov 08! and i think the beginning of june 09.thats what was found in the house.so that hardly fits with jasons claims.The question is.is he prepared to help murray walk to get back at klien.will he talk to the defence?Hes about as credible as a witness as the ranch ex employees who owed mj.and that sums up the defences desperation

Jasoon ain't credible.. The prosecution will tear him to shreds.. Besides what Klein gave MJ didn't kill him

Did the defence ever enter kliens medical records as evidence.i know they got a sub for them but did they file a motion to enter as evidence

I agree. I'm also hoping Walgreen get's Pheifer on the stand, and blatantly points out his lies about being MJ's "lover". Fat chance! Literally. I mean, if you were someone's "lover" why would Klein have to tell YOU, MJ is having problems sleeping!? Lover my ass...and HLN ran with this foolishness today, talking about, "MJ was an addict, who was doctot-shopping, and who may have been involved in a sexual relationship with the office assistant of Dr. Klein."!

By now we know Michael was not doctor shopping so as usual HLN is wrong and pointless. Jason would be quite the witness because I don't believe he is a doctor I don't believe has an idea about what kind of treatment Michael was getting and if Klein told him what was he doing talking about Michael's treatment with people? When Jason filled his court papers he said everything but I did not steal from Klein which kind of leads me to think maybe he did. He is IMO one of those witness who does not want to testify because he will be forced under cross to answer some tough questions. And people tend to forget that Klein was investigated by the attorney general and while he was fined I think for writing prescriptions under false names he was cleared of giving Michael to much of anything anything. People tend to forget that even though Klein is a great big you know what he is a doctor. And there is nothing wrong with a doctor treating his client no matter who it was

I would love for Ivy to answer this for me. If he wants to say Klein gave Michael muscle relaxers but there is proof that he did not over do it and they were not a factor in how Michael died how relevant is he?

Well we knew the defense was going to try and prove Michael had drugs from some other doctor and that is why he died. Somehow the propofol and other medications that Murray gave him did not cause his death, although the autopsy states death was due to these causes. Somehow Kline's treatment killed Michael and you know what guys, the media will run with this; so we have to prepare ourselves.

I do not think the defense can stoop any lower than this. I would really love to see the former boyfriend/assistant/thief cross examined.

^^I strongly believe that the jurors will listen to the facts and do the right thing, which is convict Murray. This will annoy Murray's fans including the TV hosts and commentators. I feel that Michael suffered so much on earth by the actions of these people and certainly now that he is dead, he has to get some justice. I want everyone to think positive and send out positive vibes sorrunding this trial. We certainly will win this case.

1.you can't bring a witness agains Klein that already stole money from him and it was sued...that's stupid, how credible is such a witness?
2.even if another doctor is guilty too that doesn't change the facts: Murray gave Michael propofola nd let him alone to die...

the defense is desperate and childlish...

I knew it. I figured that Jason running his mouth would get the defense to try to involve him in the trial. I saw this coming a long time ago. No surprise to me at all. They are only interested in talking to him because they know he was bad-mouthing Klien. I don't think Jason will hesitate to get up on that stand to drag Klien down because those two guys are on such bad terms right now. What a mess. This is all just my opinion.

Also imo HLN info should be banned from this section just like other outlets were during 03-05. Post their rubbish in the tabloid section if there is one but this section is for the facts of the case.the trial will be hard enough and this place should be a haven for us.

Michael Jackson doctor trial set for September 26

The trial of Michael Jackson's doctor, accused of involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's death, will begin September 26 in Los Angeles, a judge said Wednesday.


Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said jury selection will begin September 8 with the distribution of a questionnaire to pre-selected jurors.

"That is still the go-date," he said of the late September start date. "I want to keep a short leash on this case."

Conrad Murray, the last doctor to treat Jackson, is on trial for involuntary homicide in the "King of Pop's" death on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50 after an overdose of the anesthesia propofol, which the singer used as a sleeping aid.

In late July, Pastor barred the use of a video in court that showed the star rehearsing days before his death and his anticipated return to the global music scene.

One of Murray's lawyers, J. Michael Flanagan, said Jackson was "very talented... even on his bad days," and said the footage would not be a fair representation of his condition in the days preceding his death.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin May 9, but was pushed back at the defense's request after they asked for time to develop cross-examinations for new witnesses from the prosecution.

Prosecutors say Jackson died from an overdose of the powerful sedative propofol, which Murray was in charge of administering to help alleviate the star's insomnia.

Murray's defense is expected to argue that Jackson gave himself an excessive dose of the drug while the doctor was out of the room at the singer's mansion in the affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood west of Los Angeles.

If found guilty, Murray could face up to four years in prison.

This is crazy mess but I saw this coming. It shows the defense's desperateness if they want to call a witness like Jason Pfeiffer, who is obviously claiming these things because he's in a fight with Klein and because Klein sued him. I'm afraid this will force the prosecution call Klein as a witness, who could also be a disaster on the stand. These two guys are both clowns and liars.

It's sad that the media will use witnesses like Pfeiffer to spread falsehoods about Michael (they already put the term "alleged gay lover" in the headlines about Pfeiffer). In fact, the lawsuit Pfeiffer filed against Klein doesn't mention the gay lover claim any more. I don't know if he will still claim that (he may in the hope of a book deal....) or will admit lying about it (saying that Klein forced him to do that too), but what he wrote in his lawsuit is actually contradictory to the gay lover claim. What he describes there is a rather formal relationship with Michael, not that of "lovers".

Klien is listed on both pros and defence witness list. Defence as a hostile witness.but whether the pros were planning to use him who knows as they are as credible as each other and thats not saying much

dont think so. some names were mentioned in the media but i dont know if we can get access to the whole thing. each side name ppl they might call or who might be mentioned during the case so potential jurrors can see if theres any conflict of intrest, ie they might know someone on the list. so if ppl are on the list it doesnt mean they will testify. from what we know the defence has all of about 20 plus actual defence witnesses. the rest seem to be hostile pros witnesses or character witnesses that are irrelevent

Sept 8th is jury selection.i had the 19th or so as testimony to beging.ie a week for selection.but i cant remember if that was repoted in the press or i just guessed it would be about a week for selection. I guess the judges thinks it may take abit longer.tbh its all guess work as in 03-05 it took hardly anytime compaired to what was estimated
