Michael - The Great Album Debate

Either way, he rocked it! Have you ever seen him do Monster live? It's amazing!

I guess we are all fans of Michael, only in different ways. Some people are more fan of his music, some people are more fan of his dancing, some people are fan of the man himself, and some people might be a fan of the overal.
And maybe some are just fans of his autobiography and that's it.

Just here because they like to drink Pepsi.

:lmao: I know I'm so predictable. Guys here, don't ne jealous. Michael is probably the only man in the world who can turn millions of women on (from teenager to grandma of all races) just by one pelvic thrust. I have no idea he still has so many teenager fans on Twitter until recently.

CHEERS! :)

I have also gotten confirmation that some of the Cascio tracks will be released on the 2012 album. They include: All Right, Burn Tonight, and Water. They also stated they have proof the songs are Michael and that it will be used for the promotion of the album.

If they have proof then they should show it before the album is released, not after the album is released. If they claim to have proof then it better be some real proof and not another statement.

"I have read the statement from the MJ estate and I have to say that it's just more bullshit! I was in that room, and the majority of the people mentioned did NOT agree that it was MJ! Some felt it sounded like him but all agree that there was nothing there that was consistent with any MJ habits like finger snaps, headphone bleeding, foot stomping or just simple things like his voice asking for another take. Both Dr. Freeze and Teddy Riley sat with Taryll Jackson and myself and stated that they felt what we felt. As for the specialists that were brought in, I don't think anyone from the actual Jackson family got any direct confirmation that made them feel any different then what they have felt all along."

— Cory Rooney, producer

I have just learned that Sony are planning to use the rest of the unreleased CASCIO songs for future albums.

"We want to use the cascio songs for future albums", is what they have recently told someone.

F*** you, Sony.

If true, it wouldn't surprise me a bit. I said that their protection of the songs to the point of a legal action and BMI registrations always felt like they had plans for these songs. I didn't expect it to be soon. I was expecting it to be more like down the road.

some people aren't really fans of "logic" but to me it was very obvious that if this controversy was any concern to Sony, they would have not release this songs to start with. As they did release them , it seems like they were confident and ready and accepting of any backlash.

first of all I don't think there'a an 2012 album. Or as far as we know 2012 is the year set aside for Bad. Is there any changes to the plans?

As for the proof , handwritten lyrics, sms messages and even audio recordings have been mentioned. After Michael album release through grapevine the existence of some proof - not absolute proof - has been mentioned and there was talk that those will become public. But as it didn't happen everyone became skeptical about existence of any proof.

So IMO any proof is unexpected but not that surprising. Especially if you account for some people's and Sony/ Estate's confidence in regards to these songs and their examinations.

The indiffrence of some fans amazes me. Clearly they don't care about Michael as an artist. Why are they even fans in the first place?

This is something that should NOT be said at all. The notion of real fan versus fake fan, or good fan versus bad fan is highly disturbing and not really allowed on MJJC.

Once again stick to your opinion about the songs and explaining it. If your point of view is strong you don't need to resort to personal attacks or need to discredit of people.

In my opinion, since I can't recognize MJ's voice on the Cascio tracks which have been legally and offiicially released on the last MJ album, I consider myself a deaf and bad fan for not being able to recognize my idol's voice.

Well I hope they're prepared to accept that the next album will have the LOWEST sales in Michael Jackson history, including compilations, special editions etc. No-one's going to pay out for an album with well-known fake tracks, not again at least.

It all depends to who the buyer is and how many people are feeling strongly about these songs. If there's enough general public buying the albums it might not matter that much.

In a few months we'll have the sales figures for 2011 and we will have a better idea about if the sales were good or bad.

As far as I am concerned it is not a very good sign to wait one year before presenting proof. It's too late. They should have presented the proof from the very beginning to shut our mouths. Now all of sudden they are willing to present the proof? Gimme a break.

"Looking back, I firmly believe that the 'grit' was a tool Michael developed to survive his voice change. We all know that when a male singer's voice changes, it normally brings the death of their career. But Michael was very scientific about it, and used it to create his signature sound. When you hear hiccups, grunting, or 'hee-hee,' you automatically know it's Michael Jackson." ? Jason Malachi, August 29, 2008

And that's where you make a big mistake Jason. He was more than that.

"[...] if I wanna sound like Michael, you won't know the difference [between me and him]. If you want me to get Mike-ified, I can do it." ? Jason Malachi, October 1, 2010

I'm mentioned a lot on Michael Jackson fan websites. People will say, 'now that Michael's gone, he's the closest thing we've got vocally.'" ? Jason Malachi, October 1, 2010

I believe you if I hear you sing like this, Jason.

Agreed, the damage has been done. It's only logical to assume that proof of these song's legitimacy could have been released or even leaked at any time. A note or a vocal clip would've sufficed. Waiting a year and using authenticity as promotion because it badly affected the sales of last time seems very nonsensical to me. Not every album has to cause controversy, and I don't see why these songs are special enough to make it on a big album, even if they are him.

^^because Sony obviously want to maximize profit. It doesn't make the most business to them to put all eggs in one basket. Sony may think the difference in sales between an artistically great album and a mediocre album is not big enough. Even if they put together a great album, it's still a posthumous release. It's highly unlikely to be a blockbuster. So, they'd rather maximize the number of releasable album. In fact, what they are doing now is the exact opposite of what Michael would do.

I just wonder how can Eddie Cascio be so silent about all this controversy. I dunno you guys, but if I was relentlessly accused by people of committing something wrong I'd do anything in power to provide proof that nothing wrong has been done rather than ignoring people. After all, the controversy is about his "friend" Michael!

The same with Jason Malachi. It seems that he has erased himself from the surface of this planet!

Imagine if someone accused you of singing songs that you never sang. Would you keep quiet?

OT: I am reading Joe's book now. It's been a great read so far. You'll never see Michael's works the same again. I gain a new found respect on Off The Wall. Too often, we forget the social context under which the album was released. Our man crossed barriers upon barriers. We have a lot to be proud of as MJ fan.

Sounds like a great read!!! I gotta check it out.
