Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael"/ Excerpt @pg151/New Interview Post 3743

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

When you say it yourself, it is not a problem. When in 50 years of your life you never ever mention it, and right after you die, one of your friends says it, then it is a big problem -- disrespect.

I wont argue with you on this, because it's what I was saying before : different sensibilities. I dont think I would care. You would. It's fine.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Because something has not been written doesnt mean it never happened... and the fact something was written doesnt mean it did happen.

Well, in any case Frank wrote Michael got stoned. Michael himslef never said it.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Im not defending Frank for deciciding to reveal MJ's drug use. But Im not going to condemn him either based
on a few exceprt or comments that may or may not be taken out of cotext. Nor an I going to blame him for the
medias shamless headlines. We dont know what context he is using these staments in. Frank may be telling
also what MJ went though and the pain he suffered and why he had to resort to pain killers on occasion (situational)
and smoking weed in he mountains is hardly a sin and is not going to taint his legacy. In fact there are many that
will find that refreshing to know.

There is so much rumours about MJ drug use floating around with no explaination just maybe this book will show the reasons MJ had to depend on pain killers at various times in his life. The media want to portray him as a junkie always... Maybe Franks book will put that to rest and give us ammunition when those statements are made. from someone Firsthand that was there. Why not wait and see before the vicious attacks.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

No but if he lived today you probably would.

Why? What's the difference bewteen then and now regarding drinking time after time a wine and getting stoned?

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Well, in any case Frank wrote Michael got stoned. Michael himslef never said it.

And I will keep saying you still dont know what Frank said. All you have are a couple of quotes from papers. And papers we know we cant trust.

If this is true, if it's that kind of book, I'll be the first in line to diss Frank. And I will base my opinion on the real thing : Ivy's report. :p

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Please buy and read the book about Steve Jobs and then we'll talk.

The thread is about Frank's book. And you far fetch it to Steve Jobs just to justify somehow that Frank said things that Michael never revealed some things aobout himself when he was alive.

I don't know Steve Jobs's stance on privacy, but I do know Michael's stance through his songs:

Why you wanna trip on me
Privacy
Leave me alone
Tabloid Junkie
Money
...

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

If Judas wrote a book or documentary about him, we would. Luckily they didn't live in today's world.

There is as a matter of fact a Juda's gospel, and I read it already, thanks.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Tell MJ's kids that their daddy smoked weed.

And then try to educate yours not smoke it.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Most of those songs are directed at the media... Especially TJ which lyrics I could quote... All your opinion is relying on, are excerpts in papers...

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

You don't really need me to tell you the difference between now and then......

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

A lot of people smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, or coffee, and eat junk food. They still tell their kids its bad for them. I call it the hypocrisy of parenting. What's the difference?

And, btw, we dont know if Michael talked about that with his kids, do we?

I am not basing my opinions on Frank's book. I am basing my opinions on the things that have already been written.

Ivy can write ten reports, it won't erase what Frank revealed in his interview, and what consequently media chose to write about.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

I hope people don't take this the wrong way but it's starting to sound like people need to take a break from this thread.
In reality I think we all need a break from the negativity thrown our way as MJ fans. Sadly it's been almost a nonstop thing since the trial started. (actually it's been going on even longer than that)
It's too much and turning on eachother is not helping things.
At this point all we can do is wait and see where this book is concerned. Of course you can state how you feel, but at this point the discussion is basically going in circles it seems like. Both sides are obviously missing eachothers points.

Focus your attention on something positive concerning Michael, it really helps to calm you down.

The book is only two days away, then we will probably get a better view on what this book will be like.
I'm a little weary of Frank too and if he really crosses the line concerning Michael than by all means let him know then. He would deserve to be called out. I understand the frustration.
I don't like what it sounds like so far either but it's only two days till we will now just what exactly he thinks the world "should know" about Michael.

Edit: I still don't understand why Frank feels the world needs to know about the "getting stoned" part. I just don't see the point. To me it's not refreshing at all, just a bit lame really.
To me it's a tidbit better left unsaid. Is it supposed to make Michael look cool or something? Has nothing to do with having a problem with weed ( I don't),
the problem is why did he feel the need to share that with the world? Which makes me question what he is trying to achieve with this book.
But I'll wait and see for the rest of it. I just don't know if I believe everything he says, honestly. Even if he has known Michael for a long time.

A lot of people do it, true. But a lot of people do it with their own kids. Frank if he wants to get stoned and talk about it to his kids is his problem. But using his friend's famous name Michael Jackson and talk about it is what I call sensationalism, nothing more.

Whether Michael talked to his own kids or not is none of our business.

I am not telling you anything, I just asked you.

I agree Michael was very guarded about his privacy. but so much is already out there. I think it would be positive to
shine some light on the issues and expalin them rather then try to sweep them under the rug and pretend they dont
exist. Thats only more fuel for vicious rumors. I wish the drug stories had never came out. :( but they did. We keep saying why dont they explain why ? It is my hope Frank will shed some light and will show the world what MJ had to endure. If he doesnt I will be among the first to slay him ..

Not in their home or in that period of time. They were saying Mj was fine and was able to sleep.
Frank is speaking of prior about when he was on tour. traveling and still performing and the sleep issues
he had at that time. He was worried about him. Most likely will be adressing the pain and problems MJ faced

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

Really, you want me to list the differences between the two ages?

Well, your comment was about the fact that today we would read that Jesus was drunk or stoned. I asked why would we read it today and why not back then? What's the difference?

If he wasn't stoned or drunk he wasn't, why would anyone write that he was even today?

Bumper - could you please stop multiple posting? edit your first post please

Xrisx - I agree. The book is out in 2 days. We'll get an excerpt that day. (My review wouldn't be that quick) and we'll have the Q&A done by next week as well. I think we beat this horse to death. The best thing is to take a break for 2 days. and then re-examine it as the information starts to come in.

Referring to how the media twist and turn everything.

I didn't mean to. I was answering as the comments were coming. i'll try to regroup them.

Edit: I can't do it now. My internet is being extremely slow for some reason.

@Ben I'm only basing it off the excerpts..Mentioning drug use, doctors, being married twice for buisness reasons, the way he's portrayed as these crying tragic figure..Comon now, you gotta admit that Michael would not have wanted been happy with this, whether it's true or not..It doesn't matter if the rest of the book is positive, we all know the media is going to focus on the crap like this...And yes Frank is to blame for what the media reports, if he was a true 'friend' of Michael then he wouldn't give the media ammunition for bs stories. All Frank is doing is revealing private stories (whether true or not) that Michael himself never told to sell a book, simple as that. For him it's not a question of positive or negative, but that it sells.

Re: Frank Cascio "My Friend Michael" book release date Nov 15 ,2011

this is getting out of hand. why bring Jesus up? Michael Jackson was a human. a very good and decent human but STILL a human! we don't know yet what is in this book but let's face it. Michael is an historical figure and books are going to be written about his life even 100 years from now.
