IJCSLY Single with "Don't Be Messin' Round" bonus track [Discussion]

wouldn't it be great if they add the final version of this song on bad...we all know how different can a mj demo sound . i would love to hear the final version of this song

It would be great, but the final version wasn't completed in the BAD era, so we are going to have to wait to get it in the future.
They are choosing demos/outtakes recorded between 1985-1987.

I was importing my copy into iTunes, and "DBMR" appeared as "Baby Be Mine". Title's wrong but the song is DBMR! Strange!

My Walmart just had 6 copies yesterday. I bought two.

I bought two yesterday also, they only had 3 left. It's nice to see it is selling very well. :D

I got one off ebay, but it will take about a week to reach me in the mail. How much does it retail for at walmart? I paid $8 for mine.

Got 1 copy today here in Morgan Hill, CA (10 mins south of SJ).. Didn't find any Pepsi cans tho.. I visited two walmarts in the area and today and both had about 5 copies each.. Both had NO Pepsi cans!

Edit: also visited 1 Target store... NO Pepsi cans either!

The hook/chorus is really catchy..

I wasn't a huge fan at first, but I keep catching myself singing this in my head..

I'm interested in hearing some kind of remix to this..

I don't understand why the stores are only carrying a few copies?

Because it cost money to have CDs just sitting on a shelf. They rather keep a smaller inventory & replenish if needs be.

People don't go to record stores anymore. And this is a 25 year old song being re-released.

Here's an interesting twitter condo that might help people understand:

Who's Bad ?@thegirlwasbad
Unfortunately, that's how it works. Stores aren't going to stock items they don't think will move fast. Especially CDs, which no one really goes out to the store to buy anymore.

3 is a reasonable number. My friend owns a record store. I've worked there. They don't wanna be stuck w/ inventory that isn't moving. It costs them money and space. Willing to bet Walmart didn't think this was going to sell fast / well and now that they see it moving, more will be ordered next inventory time. my Walmart had 5 copies and I was really surprised tbh.

Ihre Amazon.de-Bestellung wurde versandt

Means - my order has been shipped!!!

Can't wait for it to arrive!!

Little story for you all:

My girlfriend leaves for her mother's house at around 8:30am. I leave for work at around 10am, and stop at Walmart on the way, where I find out that someone bought all four copies. Disappointed, I got home at around 5pm, only to find four copies of the single on my bed.

Yeah. I love my girlfriend. :D

Your girlfriend is the best. - I need to find a girl like that!!

I haven't got my copy yet, but I'm so excited.
I heard that IJCSLY comes with the spoken intro in this single. Without any doubt this is the first time ever that this rare version of the song gets released with digital remastering. The spoken intro imo is purely amazing. I don't know why they had to edit it out in the later releases.
I hope all the other songs, namely Bad, TWYMMF, Dirty Diana and Smooth Criminal also come in their original form in the upcoming BAD25 release, so that we can finally quit running around to look for the 1987 original first press.

I found one at my local Walmart the day it was released bro! $8 is supposed to get you like 5 copies lol

Aw that sucks, but I don't live in the US and I don't think any local stores will get it down. Ebay sellers always keep high margins :(

Still nothing here in Canada, Quebec.. Called Wallmart, never heard of the single.. one said it was suppose to arrive the day after, but there was nothing...

^^ I thought it wasn't released yet in Canada? I think I heard somewhere that it's released June 8th in Canada....not sure...

Agree! I already have the original spoken intro on cd from the original release, but didn't consider that this version will be remastered! Something else to be happy about!

Just orderd the cd and vinyl! This is awesome!

Ah, maybe that's the reason.. I did ask couple of pages ago if release date was also June 4th for Canada but didn't get an answer... but if it's June 8th.. then I'm calling my Wallmarts around to see!
Thanks! :)

I just read this on twitter...

[h=6]From the Estate: We've just learned that Michael Jackson's new single, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You"/"Don't Be Messin' 'Round", available exclusively at WalMart, is currently the top selling music title on Wal-mart.com and has a real shot at being #1 on the Billboard Single Sales Chart this week!! Sales will be counted 'til this coming Monday at midnight (local time in each market), so please urge everyone you know to grab a single at their local WalMart store or on the website, and let's get Michael's first single from BAD25 a #1 debut!! #BAD25[/h]

^Oh seriously? That's amazing! Go Michael! Go Bad 25!

I seriously doubt this. The number of CDs is likely limited since people don't buy them anymore. Without airplay and digital sales it will be hard to even make the chart, let alone go to #1. I wouldn't get my hopes high.

I believe the chart the estate is talking about is a different chart than the Hot 100 chart that is the most commonly referenced chart.

I think you have things confused. The Hot 100 chart is completely different from the Single Sales Chart.

The Hot 100 is based upon single releases in ALL formats: digital download, CD single, vinyl, etc.
The Single Sales Chart is based solely upon sales of a physical single. Digital downloads are not a factor.

It is fully possible for "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" to chart on the Hot 100, but it is extremely unlikely. Roughly 99.99% of single releases are made available as a digital download. "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" is part of the 00.01% that are not available on iTunes. As many people have said, little artists release CD singles anymore. That alone could launch the single to #1 on the charts.

I'm really curious to see the Singles Sales chart just to see what singles are still being released for purchase these days. I don't think there are enough singles out there to fill up a whole chart!
