Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

Haha, that was two weak "shamones"!

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

At least they like "American Dad" use MJ reference respectfully unlike "Family Guy".

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

The Captain EO bit from Family Guy was funny, though :D

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

I find "Family Guy" is mostly disrepectful to Michael.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

Yeah, but I don't stop watching shows because they make fun of a singer/actor I like.

Well I don't mind them making fun of the ones I hate, but I thought to myself if they make fun of Michael one more time, then I'm done.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

If I stopped watching shows because they made fun of MJ, I'd have to cancel my cable.
You can't let stuff like that get in the way.

I still like the comedian Katt Williams, for example, even though his bit on MJ was really harsh (and a bit lolzy, too).

But yeah, MJ is god and you can't make fun of him EVER.

EVER.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

But when these people make fun of MJ they are calling him a pedophille. That is not funny to me. Plastic Sugery and vitiligo jokes i can put up with. I don't find them funny but they don't really offend me either. I'm more indifferent towards them, but pedophille jokes are just too far for me

But for me some people making jokes about children being molested is a real knee slapper

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

As far as Katt Williams goes, the joke he did that had me in tears was something to the effect of:

"Don't you like to climb trees?"
"NO MOTHERFU**ER! WE GOT BILLS AND SH*T!"

And the Family Guy Captain EO bit was funny to me more-so because they referenced a semi-obscure Michael Jackson/Disney theme park film to begin with. Even the music was similar.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

Lol but Family Guy,Cleavland Show, and American Dad are ALL made by the same guy:
Seth MacFarlane.
He's actually hysterical, and the Captain E.O. bit from FG was hilarious.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

Oh yeah, MJ running out of a screen snatching children implying he is a child snatcher with the undertone of him being a child molester is f'n hilarious. Sorry, but that is not funny if you support the guy. It just isn't.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

I honestly can't stand any of the jokes family guy, south park, or so called comedians make about Michael because the majority of them are based on bs like having tons of plasting suregery, skin bleaching or being a child molester. Making jokes on such horrible crime is beyond me and quite twisted, I don't understand it. I totally agree with dam, it has the connotation of a child molester, I'm sorry. This Cleveland video is quite nice comparing to other parodies or references.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

The South Park episode about Michael wasn't that bad because while they did make fun of Michael they also made fun of Tom Sneddon. Infact they made more fun of Tom Sneddon than what they did of Michael and in the South Park episode about Michael they did say that Michael was framed in 1993 by racist police officers who hated rich black people.

But, those are things he did do though.

Whether for vanity or to even out the pigment loss, he bleached his skin (or whatever the proper medical/cosmetic term is).
And he did get a lot of work done (it was rather blatant, actually).
That's just me saying how it is, not like HOW DARE HE DO THAT.

And yes, Seth McFarlane created all 3 shows, but he doesn't write every episode of each show.

ANYWAY, before a mod comes here and cleans this thread up, alls I'm sayin' is that I wouldn't stop watching a show (which I love all 3 of Seth McFarlanes show, btw) because of a bit they did on one my my musical idols.
To each their own.

If you saw his new special, Katt Williams sort of redeemed himself. He said he jokes about people who are alive but he'd never disrespect a dead person. Then he went on about how fake Dr. Murray was and how he was out for money, in a comedic manner. It was real, but funny at the same time.

Lol, "alls".

well the making fun of Michael was and is unprecedented and outstandingly awful and above all else of any artist ever disrespected. It stands alone, so it affects me and a lot of others. Thanks to those who made the reference to family guy. i've never seen the show before, and now i will not start. besides..i heard a segment of an commercial for family guy..it's premise is disrespectful in general. it depicted parents calling their kid 'ugly'. right there..the atmosphere says it all. 'funny' is no excuse..and can't hide truth in intent.

Re: Cleveland Show (shamone!)

@ Hunterr : Thanks a lot for posting. Haha I'm loving it! :D
I look at it like, it's a light-hearted MJ tribute. Feel-good one at that.
*picturing Mike himself cracking up watching this*

If you like and support those show it's another story but supporting and/or celebrating the bs these shows say about my idol and hero is something I can't take it.

Having reconstructive surgeries (serving to rebuild, restore, or correct the appearance and function of defective, damaged, or misshaped body structures or parts) on the nose and lips due to the damage discoid lupus cause in some people like Michael is not the same than having plastic surgery. And also he had reconstruve surgery on his scalp and face because of the 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the Pepsi commercial accident.
Tons of plastic surgeries, :bs:

In these pictures, does he look like he bleached his skin!? His vitiligo is quite evident!

I agree on what you're saying analogue, besides that they made fun of his parenting skills, his genuine desire to be Peter Pan and "falling" nose and the last episode they did, they ridiculed him making him a beauty pageant little girl.

I don't think you realize that these people assume Michael hated to be black and therefore turned to "tons" of plastic surgeries and "skin bleaching" to change who he was..which is NOT true. If they cleared out he DIDN'T "just bleach his skin to be white" it wouldn't be so disgusting, he had a condition we all know severely affected him both physically and psychologically and it's not like he had a choice, he HAD to try to make himself look the best he could, it wasn't "out of vanity" wtf.. and to make fun of that to me is just tasteless and stupid. I've had it with "comedians" and their MJ jokes, they know it's gonna make their show more entertaining and controversial and honestly that's just vile. I just don't see myself as a big supporter of his, laughing at that or finding it remotely entertaining, just NO. :trish:

But, it's a satirical show parodying and lampooning a lot of things in pop culture. It's not supposed to be Full House or something.

If you're referring to Meg, then it's a long standing running joke of the show. The family is constantly berating their daughter. It's become laughable how they keep it up every season.

The show isn't saying "HAY, ITS OK TO CALL YOUR DAUGHTER UGLY, K."
Why would anyone watch an animated show geared towards teens and adults looking for respectful, politically correct humor?

She's animated, by the way, as are the other characters in this animated show. It's not to be taken too seriously. :)

Well, skin thing aside, I believe he got a lot of work done because he wasn't satisfied with the way he looked. Over time, it just got more and more (especially his nose).

And when I said vanity, I meant regardless of why he did it.

I´ve never seen Michael as a God.
He was a human with human feelings who was ridiculed and bullied by media.
I think it´s been enough with that.
I don´t really understand why it´s so fun when people are ridiculed.
There are many other tv-programmes to choose from nowadays, otherwise there are books and MJJC of course.

Re: Cleveland Show-Shamone! [ Debate -Is cartoon satire disrespectful to MJ? ]

^^ Hunterr, the loss of pigmentation was the result of vitiligo like some people who lose their hair as a result of chemoteraphy. To remedy the situation, Michael sought some treatment that will help him with his skin decoloration (keep in mind that he was an artist who had to wear make up for presentations). Can you imagine the amount of make up he'd had to use to get an even color? If that were his choice, people would have make jokes. Now, is it right to make fun of people who tried to do what is best for them to cover the effects of an illness? What about people who wear wigs because they lose their hair due to chemo treatment, would it be ok to make fun of them too?

Do a fun routine of one of Michaels's dance moves, sing one of his songs out of tune, that's okey, but let's not forget that what might be funny for us might be painful for the person they're making fun of.

Re: Cleveland Show-Shamone! [ Debate -Is cartoon satire disrespectful to MJ? ]

What I think some of these shows are doing, especially South Park and a lot of times Family Guy, is just taking everything and anything about the world and making fun of it. That's why I agree with those who say they won't stop watching a show just because they make fun of their idol.

I think you should be able to laugh at yourself. Even if it's complete bullshit sometimes... The South Park creators constantly say that they will make fun of EVERYTHING, it's their agenda and they don't want to feel like they've chosen one thing over the other. That's why I think they make fun of even the things they believe in! I think these shows often poke fun at even things they care deeply about, because it's for comedy and art. It's definitely a form of art and some people think it's very twisted but I see it for what it is and I actually think it's usually very innocent and just to get a rise out of everyone. It usually works but some of us see through it.
