Was DYK re-done because it sounds so 'now'

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

No, the guitar riffs are the only thing added

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

They wont give crap about the dang song lyrics because every news outlet knows they are opening themselves up for lawsuits.. He was acquitted, legally if a news cast team, person, channel makes him appear to be guilty of the type of behavior he was found NOT guilty for than that opens too many windows for financial loss and ridicule..

The media has no problem falsely claiming, implying, suggesting MJ was a child molester despite of his acquittal. How many lawsuits have you seen for that? The media very well knows the tricks about how to word certain things and cover themselves against lawsuits but still implying ugly stuff about MJ. It's very hard to win lawsuits against the media. Sorry, but sometimes I feel some fans live in so much denial about the unfortunate impact of these false allegations on MJ's public image and how much damage they have done and - unfortunately - continue to do.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

My question is is there a new album on the way?

Did the Estate say there would be 7 or 10 albums coming out now until 2017? I could be wrong anyone feel free to correct me.

It was 10 projects over 7 years not 10 albums . I think they have at least 7 already

Thats must be a good news!!! Bravo, Thanks qbee:)

Interesting thought!

What do you think were the projects already released?

In my opinion there were these:

#1 - This Is It 2009

#2 - Vision 2010

#3 - MICHAEL 2010

#4 - Immortal Soundtrack 2011

#5 - Bad25 2012

#6 - The Indispensable & Ultimate Fan Collections 2013

In my opinion 'The Experience' game was also one of the projects covered by the contract, even if it was developed by ubisoft, the game's focus is 100% on the music of michael & so was licensed by sony.
Furthermore the 2010 contract explicitly states video game releases as possible projects, so i can't imagine "The Experience" not being part of it.

Therefore:

#7 The Experience

My count is also at 7 projects already released.

maybe we are forgetting the way it was post 93-2005 and between 2005-2009!! They did not just imply he could have but they portrayed that he DID... Those make a big difference, look at the polls, listen to the general public, the tide completely changed.. As many artists they build them up, and make them crash.. After death they turn to glorifying again.... That's exactly what they've done! There was no tv specials on his innocence, or big names defending him etc. Now there is!!

People have made there minds up on Michael and now it will be much harder to sway either way for people.. There has been several negative news mentioning's in the past couple years and what did it do to his legacy? you tell me because the last I checked the MJ Vegas show and the tour that came before it broke records even with some negative press!!! And I NEVER thought I would drive down to the strip in the United States and see billboards representing MJ!! That's something (pre passing) we have not seen in over a decade prior.

His concert always sold well - O2 sold out immediately before his death. Also see the reception at the WMAs in 2006. But that does not mean that his image is not heavily damaged by these allegations, whether before or after his death. It speaks for the strength of his art that despite of these allegations his music can still achieve success, but imagine how much bigger it could be without these allegations! And then the Estate would not have to edit "she's only 15" out of Hollywood Tonight and we would not have to worry about how DYKWYCA could be twisted by the media.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

^ You are backing/supporting my statement! post 2005 he was heavily more excepted!! and after his passing even more. I'm thinking we are on the same page on this one, at least same chapter!

I'm just saying that what you said about any media accusing him of molestation being ridiculed and called out and sued is just not true. Unfortunately. They may be called out in the comment sections by MJ fans, but that's it. It's not like the general consensus on MJ in the mainstream media is that he was innocent and any media claiming otherwise gets called out by all the others. I wish it was so, because that would be ther right thing, but unfortunately it's not the case.

My count is also at 7 projects already released.

Per the Sony contract, we're only at 5 projects.

1. This Is It - CD soundtrack
2. Vision - Box set
3. Michael - Studio album
4. Immortal - Remix album
5. Bad 25 - Box set

* The Bad 25 documentary may or may not be counted as a separate project. It all depends on if the estate decides to drop two projects in one year, as they did with Vision and Michael.

* The Experience exists on an entirely separate contract between Ubisoft, Sony and the estate. It was originally going to count as one of the projects, but they decided against it in the end.

* The two box sets released (Indispensable + Ultimate Fan) aren't counted towards the project. They were just small treats used to tide the community over as the long awaited studio album wouldn't be done by the end of the year as they had originally anticipated.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

My apologies; in hindsight that wasn't the best comparison. It was the only sensible one that came to mind at the time however. But regardless, no business would do that. It's a prime reason why Monster (the 1998 Brad Buxer collaboration) won't be released anytime soon -- because Michael Jackson singing about drug addiction leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I find it hard to listen to Morphine for that reason alone.
Monster is about drug addiction. Where you'd hear that?! :D

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

what I was meaning is when the media ridiculous Michael, they are subjecting themselves into a dangerous territory because they COULD be sued. After MJ passed Michael Jacksons name went from a name to a person to a name of a business. (Not literally), when someone slanders another entity there are many lines that cannot be crossed. They wont sue every person that says something bad about Michael but they are far more subjected to be sued or publically called out for there actions.

There will always be some type of negative press about Michael -that's a given.. But you would have to admit you have to have noticed a big change in the way the media talks about Michael.. How many times do you hear him being called "*****" now? Because I don't really hear that anymore.

Naturally after someone passes it becomes a lot more sensitive in all areas... Before they'd alwaysss call him "Troubled Pop star", "***** *****", etc.. Now I hear "Pop Icon", "The late King of Pop".... They did not talk about him like that much in the late 90's and 00's until he passed.

Someone MUST notice this with me!!

That's not true. In fact, it's more difficult to sue now because there is no law protecting the dead from being defamed.

^ the Michael Jackson Estate is not a person!

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

And? They do not slander the Estate, they slander MJ.

Did the Estate sue the Sunday People for that fake ass "FBI files" story that spread around the world like wildfire and that is still being referenced by people as if it was true? It's demonstrably a lie, there is evidence for that, yet the Estate did not do anything. To sue the media you don't only have to prove they lied but also that they acted with malice. That's the hard part. And it is even harder to sue if the person they slander is dead, because there is no law protecting the dead from defamation. What you say that after his death it somehow became harder to slander MJ for the media is just not true. On the contrary. It's actually easier now. Not that they held themselves back even when he was alive.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

when they slander Michael it can effect the business, and if it puts the business in any kind of jeopardy the estate could either speak out, or if it worth while they could sue.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Well, they did not even sue the Sunday People with hard cold evidence about the true origin of their so called FBI files and that they are fake. In fact, the Estate did not even speak out... That's the simple fact. It's just as much open season on MJ as when he was alive.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Im not going to go back and forth and get this far off topic, I see a BIG difference in how people respond to Michael Jackson and I know I'm not the only one that sees that. Im tired of so many people here being so pessimistic about everything it's becomes so depressing sometimes.. (Not everyone)

To somewhat get back to topic, we don't have to worry about DYKWYCA or scum Wade Robson in regards to the albums success.. Michael has much more controversial songs and news out there.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

You are right we went OT but the whole thing started here:

They wont give crap about the dang song lyrics because every news outlet knows they are opening themselves up for lawsuits.. He was acquitted, legally if a news cast team, person, channel makes him appear to be guilty of the type of behavior he was found NOT guilty for than that opens too many windows for financial loss and ridicule..

It's not negativity, it's realism to point out that the media would be perfectly able to criticize and mock him for the song lyrics without having to fear any lawsuit for it.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I think things has changed a bit for how people see Michael. But it could still be better. I had an argument the other day with a friend that Michael bleached his skin. I told her to google vitiligo and she did and saw what I was saying was true about his skin disease.

I think the more times passes people will appreciate Michael even more. There is so much good that he did that people don't even realize. Focusing on his work is a good way for people to see. Whatever comes I just want people to enjoy it. Everybody like Michael would want.

In amazed every day when I see comments online and hear people say that mj wanted to be white or that he turned himself white. It just shows how powerful the media's misinformation is. People were told for years that he bleached his skin and it has become 'fact' in so many people's minds. They chose to ignore his explanation. The coroner report confirmed he had vitiligo but still people believe he bleached himself. It's sad.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

just like they ridiculed Morphine/Little Susie??

Michael has had several songs that had controversial lyrics and it never stopped the potential of the music, Black or white, They Don't Care About Us, D.S... All songs that had some type of controversy.

BOW was released before he ever publically spoke about his skin disorder that was controversial at the time, not to mention the video of him being very aggressive and touching himself etc.. They Don't Care About Us, we already know the controversy there.. D.S. about Tom Sneddon with a gun shot at the end. Or how about This Time Around, Killing and "Blowing someone open" is controversial..

Not only that you know how many times Michael with his own omission stated things that made it worse for himself, sleeping in beds with kids etc.. So I don't see why we would freak out over a song that is about a run away child because her father sexually abused her.. If anything it is bringing awareness of an issue, yes controversial for who its coming from, but Michael has never shied from that line.

I'm not freaking out about it. All I say is it's unrealistic to imagine that some part of the media would not see it as another opportunity to try to bash MJ. We can say who cares and that's OK, but let's not pretend it could not happen.

Personally I don't mind it if they release it, but I can also understand it if they don't. What I don't want is that the lyrics get butchered like in Hollywood Tonight. So either release it as Michael intended it or do not release it at all.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Quotes from a few folks I've talked to + a Spanish magazine who reported on the track sometime in 1999! I'll see if I can locate the clip :)

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Michael Jackson has written a letter to his nephew about molestation and could be anyone even an "uncle"..... So this song is far less than that.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I agree that whatever they do decide to release that they don't change any words or anything and just release it the way Michael wanted it.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Michael Jackson has written a letter to his nephew about molestation and could be anyone even an "uncle"..... So this song is far less than that.

By bringing up this letter you are proving my point. Here we have a letter that Michael wrote to his sister-in-law, Dee Dee about an article he had read about child molestation and how even uncles and aunts can be molesters. It shows where Michael's heart was regarding child molestation - that he found it unacceptable and he was upset by it. Yet, the media and the prosecution tried to twist it into something different by reading things into it which simply weren't there. They tried to suggest Michael consciously or sub-consciously was referring to himself even though it doesn't even make sense.

My point is, if the media could try and twist this letter into the total opposite of what it was about or if they could try to twist TDCAU into an "anti-semitic" song then we cannot be naive to think they won't try that with a song like DYKWYCA. I'm not saying don't release it, all I'm saying we have to be prepared for some crap by some of the media if they do. Especially with Wade's case going on.

All I'm personally against is compromises - ie. changing the lyrics like in Hollywood Tonight. Either release it as Michael intended it and say "screw the ignorant, manipulative crap by the media" that could follow or if you are not ready for that then do not release it at all. But I don't want them to mess with Michael's vision.
