The Freddie Mercury songs won't be on this album, but on a Queen album (or EP or whatever way Queen decides to release them). It's Queen who are working on those.

You're right. It also looks like the upper half of the face is slightly tilted to the side, whereas the lower half is faced from the front (except for the mouth, which again seems to be facing to the side a bit).

Well now that it finally came, I'm excited. I like the fact that the Estate are doing what a lot of us wanted them to do in the first place, which is leave us the songs the way Michael last left them, with a deluxe edition. It shows they've been listening. However the only thing I like about the cover is Michael's defining eyes. That's the only part, it reminds me of Dangerous. I just can't figure out why there's a planet ring around his head, it just looks awkward. But as long as the music is good, I can get over the cover, so we'll see.

I guess we can't have everything but you should admit any of these gorgeous pictures look more natural, authentic and it'd had been epic if the Estate could have used them instead. What a shame they can't buy/use them.

it seems to taboo to put an actual picture of Michael Jackson's face close-up on the cover of a Michael Jackson album these days, I just wish that if they did photoshop the hell out of an MJ image, they did it properly, and not so bad @/

I disagree with Birchey on this. I think the cover is really inventive and exciting. And who knows, there may yet be some small tweaks that are made to it.
Let's stay positive. Michael isn't here with us anymore for goodness' sake, there is a limit on what "new" things can be done.

Bad news: The cover art is horrible and only eight songs. (Also no word on a Victory DVD.)
Good news: Fans get the additional cd! There is also time for more promotion (the Good Morning America announcement was a nice touch) and the packaging of the product (two choices to purchase instead of the infinite amount for Bad25) is reasonable. I am watching you Estate/Sony...do it right this time!
The thread has mushroomed so please forgive me as I have not caught up. Did anyone respond to the question of how the purchase will be represented on charts? Will the deluxe count as a separate sale to the 8-song version?

I agree the concept and artwork is nice at first glance I was like "wow thats cool" but the construction of MJ's face is crap, with 1000's of pictures of his face....they made one............badly

I'm super stoked about this release! Finally new music!
As for the cover, personally I love it!
It's going to catch peoples' eye at the store or on iTunes without a doubt. It also looks to me like something MJ would've done/approved himself..
Also for those wondering why there is a "Saturn" ring around his head, it seems pretty obvious to me that sony was making a conscious effort to "hide" MJs nose..
I don't necessarily agree with it, but I do understand their reasons as to why they'd rather buyers focus on the art the cover portrays rather than something MJ was picked on for throughout the last decade of his life...
All in all, I'm excited and I can't wait!!

I'm happy the album is finally coming and we're getting the demos! I'm glad I won't be out of state (like in June) when it is released. It's funny how they used the fan spelling of Escape, but I like it. Like a lot of people have said, I don't really know what to make of the cover art lol.

This is puzzling. Slave to the Rhythm or Xscape or Chicago would not be surprising as the first single. So what could it be then? Didn't Paul Anka say Love Never Felt So Good would be the lead single? Would also immediately explain how the Thriller era is represented..... The fact that there is Thriller era stuff on the album is surprising too, as well as the fact that Vogel seems to suggest that there is apparently no post-Invincible stuff.

Hmmm I don't think so, yes the ring goes through the nose however it seems like that was the perfect place for the ring to be, just under the eyes. If that was their reasoning that's pretty damn stupid, as his nose was fine. Especially in this composite/photoshopped image

I'm excited the album is finally coming and I bet many of us are excited we're gonna have the demos. I'm definitely gonna buy the deluxe edition. But we have the right to state what we like and what we don't like. I'm glad the Estate decided to leave the real Michael music present.
YES, I have enough money saved to buy it as soon as it arrives to the stores! I hope the normal end deluxe versions are released the same day.
