Pictured in front of a store metal gate featuring Michael in Brooklyn, New York is "Willie The Entertainer" the winner of the 2014 Michael Jackson Festival of the Arts hosted by Katherine Jackson in Gary Indiana, to celebrate the 56th Anniversary of Michael Jackson's Birthday. His grand prize was a check for $5,000.00 Willie is only 7 years old and says he loves and is inspired by Michael Jackson to dance. "I have couple more words to say. Michael Jackson never dies, Michael Jackson is Forever" ~ Willie The Entertainer.
Willie is in New York to try out for the Apollo Theatre.

The artwork ~Michael is portrayed in this "We are the Greatest 'I am in Good Hands' mural painted by world renowned artist 84 yrs old Franco Gaskin on roll-down security gates on 125th St. in Harlem US by an artist dubbed the Picasso of Harlem
84 yrs old artist Franco Gaskin painted 200 murals over a 35 yr period turning the street into a tourist attraction and he is known as Franco the to tourists from Japan, Sweden and Brazil. As new modern gates are added to the shops Franco's work is lost but state officials are trying to find a home for his surviving gates which number around 25, in an outdoor art gallery. In an effort to beautify Harlem in 1978, artist Franco Gaskin began producing murals on the dreary metal gates for storefronts on historic 125th street. The security gates had been adopted due to the 1968 riots that followed Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination. As one shop owner stated until Franco came along, 125th Street looked like a battleground. Now it's an alfresco art gallery. The street is still referred to as Franco's Blvd.
As of last Summer, the Harlem Community Development Corporation was working on a plan to rescue the remaining murals that Franco painted. Hopefully, the metal canvases will be placed inside frames hung between First and Second avenues to create an outdoor gallery.
Franco has received many invitations to paint wall murals in other countries such as France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Caribbean Islands and several African countries. His works are found throughout New York City and in other countries include murals in schools, nurseries, bars and nightclubs. Franco has won several awards, and is featured in several books. His is a fascinating story!

Well-loved Celebrity Pub Mural Restored!
The much-loved celebrity mural on the side of the Prince Albert pub on Trafalgar Street has finally been revealed following its renovation.
The celebrity mural has been a highlight of Brighton’s art scene since it featured a lone tribute to the Radio 1 DJ John Peel following his death in 2004.
Earlier this week the scaffolding that has surrounded the mural for more than a month was taken down.
The mural had to undergo repairment work following concerns about flaky paint.
The new mural features 42 celebrities including: Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Michael Jackson & Prince. The only similarity with the previous version is Johnny Cash who still sits at the top of the mural.
The manager of The Prince Albert Pub, Grace, said: “They’re just iconic Rock n Roll stars.
“You get so many people taking photographs and looking at it (the mural).”
When asked about her favourite celebrity, she said: “Whitney is up there. I quite like all of them really but it would have to be Johnny Cash and Michael Jackson.”

A great mural by graphic artist out of Longmont, Colorado.

In 2009 she painted a four portrait mural depicting Michael as a child in 1958 and through to Michael as a "Moonwalker" in 2009.
People stopped by the outdoor mural, on a vacant garage owned by his uncle, at the corner of Third Avenue
and Lashley Street in Longmont to take pictures and place their own tributes and candles at the base of the mural in 2009.

"On the Rocks" ~ Michael Jackson is featured on several of the rock paintings in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, opposite the Tenerife Auditorium.
The huge block breakwater protecting the Auditorium from the Atlantic were transformed in 2011 by a Bulgarian artist

SANTA CRUZ -- Graffiti artists paid their respects to Michael Jackson last weekend at Bill's Wheels Skateshop by painting a mural as large and colorful as the King of Pop himself.

A team of eight graffiti artists travelled from as far away as Los Angeles and Santa Rosa to spray-paint a 1,400-square-foot memorial mural honoring Michael Jackson's music and memory.
The artwork, painted from Friday to Sunday, is on the east-facing wall of the business at 1240 Soquel Ave.

"It is one of the best paintings I have ever seen," said Bill Ackerman, owner of Bill's Wheels.

The mural's colors pop with precision and movement against a black background, drawing attention to the centerpiece -
- an 8-foot portrait of Jackson's face staring at the east parking lot.

The portrait artist, "Natural," also painted a life-size image of Jackson in an iconic pose -- right arm pointed to the sky, with his head hidden by a white fedora hat that matches his coat.

"It really captured Michael Jackson," said Darian O'Neal, an employee at Bill's Wheels who saw the production begin Friday. "It started out as a big brown blob, and now it really does look like him."

Ackerman's shop has been a forum for graffiti art for more than 15 years. Every few months someone comes in and paints over the previous work.
"If someone wants to paint on the wall, and they won't be intimidated by the surrounding work, I am not going to say no," Ackerman said. "I try to support the art in a legal way."

There is another wall behind the skate shop that graffiti artists use to practice and develop skills, but the wall hosting the Jackson mural elevates prestige.

"These artists were all in their 20s," Ackerman said. "They only used the good stuff for this, and they know what they are doing."

December 2014

~ An anonymous artist known only as 'Guess Who' posted a series of paste ups on the walls in the Fort Kochi region. The artwork combined traditional Indian characters and imagery with more modern, western characters and symbols. These artworks included 2 pieces featuring Michael, dancing Kathakali and making music with Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley.

Have included some location photos ~ Pic No 6 is a paste up from the same artist from 2013..

The Fort Kochi Graffiti is something of a counter-movement to the Biennale, whose idea of graffiti Guesswho felt was more like public murals, the artist began their own brand of graffiti that lifted cultural references from across the globe and painted them with a distinctly Keralite spin. From Michael Jackson dancing Kathakali, to Mona Lisa in a chatta-mundu. In an FAQ list of answers the artist recently published, he/she says anonymity was primary because the “art is more important than the artist. Being anonymous also helps you to be free of any prejudices about the identity of the artist (gender/religion/caste/age etc.)”

Fort Kochi is a region in the city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India

I just went and saw this the other day! I have not gone around to seeing all the murals here in LA (and so, of course, missed out on seeing the TII one that this Dangerous one replaced)

Since the sun was setting in this one, this particular shot shows the color a little washed out, but I took many detail photos if anyone wants to see them! It's really HUGE!

^^cool, reibish-I think this is so beautiful-I like it much better than the TII one-although that one was great also-I love the painting of just his eyes.

It's really stunning in person! Even knowing that it's nothing "new," I really just wanted to sit and stare at it all night. It's HUGE!
