I can't wait for him to do the trilogy so i can watch them in order. Smh i wish he could do dangerous, history & invincible but...um...well im 4sure he would never do invincible. But at least dangerous or history. They are both hard decisions!

Maybe I do if I hear it. Are you saying there was a staged skit or real disagreement on stage?
It was a classic skit. & the part about Jermaine doing let's get serious. I'm sure everyone was like "Jermaine...you get serious"

Dont know why eveytime i post something it gets deleted but here again is what to expect from the dvd. I cant wait to see the triumph segments finally remastered on blu ray!

It was bigger than fandom

25 million people in the united states alone bought that album and it was probably more than that

And we dont need to know every miniscule detail

There's thousands of clips on youtube right now that captures what the impact of that album had when it actually happened

What a terrible excuse not to make a documentary. So 20-30 million people in the USA alone have the album, so what? I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people who own the album are largely unaware of the process in the creation of the Thriller album and it's short films. Sure, everyone is aware of the fact it had a giant impact, but do you think they're all aware of the details of it's impact? What about those born AFTER the impact of Thriller?

Why is it so bad consolidating it's unparalleled impact in a superb 2-2.5 hour documentary? Honestly any documentary that focuses on Michael as the incredible musician he was is a godsend, given all the bullshit docos we see on television about his surgeries.

Going by your logic, why bother with any more documentaries about Michael Jackson? Guy is literally one of the best selling artists of all time, one of the famous people of the 20th Century, he sold a hundreds and hundreds of millions of albums and you can YouTube a large amount of his performances, we don't need to know every minuscule detail!

Yeah, Thriller is nearly 40 years old, and there is a whole generation who has only heard Thriller during the Halloween.
It does deserve the same treatment as Bad and OTW.

Thriller just got certified for selling 30 million in US. The population is US is 320 million so there are plenty of people who doesn't have Thriller:D

Anyways, countdown for OTW documentary has begun

Well, it's a documentary...not a concert...

That's your reasoning for a Thriller doc to not exist? That's even more of a reason for it TO BE made.
Your average joe isn't going to spend hours looking at random clips on youtube or reading endless wikipedia entries, but they may sit down for a 2 hour movie.

Glad you're not running things. The Thriller doc is getting made.

those "average joes" already know about Thriller because many of those "average joes" bought the album

what's getting me is, where was all this longing for his past work years ago because that initiative to acknowledge his past work was not there when it was expected Michael was always going to release new music

I saw only a handful of people who shared sentiment they acknowledged any of Michael's early solo work prior to the past 6 years

for years, both Thriller and OTW was disregarded as long as it was expected MJ was going to make new music

now that there is nothing else left, we have the grandeur

it's just ironic to say the least

How can u assume the fans who bought Thriller didnt know about the small details when they were the people, including myself who followed the entire run of the album,

We already knew about the creation of the videos before they were actually made, we were already told that MJ was gonna feature real life LA street game members in Beat It, and the making of Michael Jackson's Thriller VHS tape was released shortly after the video premiere, which is something he repetitively did for future songs he made videos for

Whats getting me is, when it was expected Michael would continue making music after Invincible, I never saw the eagerness to learn anything about OTW or Thriller, not when the Special edition of both albums were released in 2001 along with Bad or Dangerous, not when OTW reached its 25th anniversary in 2004, nor when Thriller 25 hit in 2008

Now that we have reached the end of the road with nothing else coming down the pike, we wanna see everything now

What in the world happened

I got selected for the exclusive screening of the documentary in NYC! Anyone else get selected ?

That screening is 4 days before it airs in Showtime, isn't it?
Did you have to sign confidentiality agreement not to say a word about it before it airs, or are you allowed to write review here?

I don't know if the Estate are watching this thread (LOL) but I must say how pleased I am to see the retail price of the Blu-ray package drop so significantly. Amazon UK are now accepting pre-orders for the package at £14.99 - a FAR more acceptable price than the previous £21. To whomever took this decision I applaud them.

Also I asked this earlier, and sorry I haven't been following the thread closely enough, has the runtime of the docu shortened? I'm sure when we first knew of the Sundance premiere it was clocking in at around 110 minutes, then after the Sundance showing I was seeing 90 odd minutes printed.

You think ppl that have that opinion will even bother to watch such a documentry though?or even if they do they will say "well of course they will say that. Its an estate documentry" at the end of the day most ppl believe what ever they are told by the media and even more dont care either way and for decades theres been an intentional agenda of re writing history inregards to mj on a personal and professional level. While im all for documentries that fight the medias decades old agenda against mj i still want to see docus about other releases. And preferably releases that the gen public can easily see not pay per view not having to search the internet to see it. I dont want to see the estate helping one of the many pushed agendas that mj did thriller and not much else by not doing projects about all releases.

Nothing to do with the estate. I often order my coffee from Amazon, and it can range between £15.00 to £25.00.

I've heard it's not uncommon for Amazon to offer Blu-ray pre-orders at high prices but drop them near release to more realistic/acceptable levels.

A new album or film release will generally be uniformly priced. So whether you go into a record store, a supermarket or online you're going to be paying roughly the same price - if not exactly the same price. Course there is the occasional example of a new release being 10-20% cheaper at a specific outlet but generally they sell, intially, at the same price. So whether it's Amazon, or the record company, or the guy who makes your coffee that's deciding that price in this case - I applaud them. I will now purchase the set when I elected previously not to.

Aw man no recording footage.. Still pretty cool to see HQ footage from Destiny and Triumph!

and the reply for question why the length of the document is shorter than originally mentioned

"Branca is most involved in the outlining stage, and then comes in again to help with the edit after Lee has done the interviews. For Off the Wall, Branca helped cut it down from 120 minutes to 90. "We wanted to keep the pace and the tempo moving," he says."

Hopefully all those cuts were about talking heads (Weeknd), not Michael, because if any clips of MJ ended up in the culling floor, Branca deserves to be put in stocks:D

I hope its full songs and not just snippets with people commenting over it.

Onir is right. Michael died-that's what happened.

When he was alive, most of the people who had loved him in the beginning and through the Quincy years had probably not heard too much about him except allegation and innuendo-and had just tucked those old glory days back in their brains. Personally, I would have LOVED them to make some new docs on OTW or BAD-there were a lot of great music docs made in the 90s by the Time/Life people, American Masters, and others and whenever they hit on Motown or the disco period I was all ears. But I'm the minority.
The hard core fans knew he was still creating music and were waiting with baited breath to see what his new music would sound like-Michael was still young, and had plenty of music left in him, so I think that's why all you heard at the time was discussions about his NEW music.

Once he died, that anxiousness and eagerness for new music died too-so we all want to go back and get more detail on what happened before.

(And honestly, there are people who don't know every minute detail-I introduced my little nephews to Moonwalker back in the day-now they have a couple of toddlers of their own-so new generations are out there to discover Michael again).

I hope its full songs and not just snippets with people commenting over it.

Doubt it. Like someone already said: it's a documentary, not concert film. Maybe DSTYGE will be full like APOM was on Bad 25.

A Q&A wasn't mentioned but its possible. Not sure what to expect, its going to be my first time at a screening event like this. Definitely excited though. lol

I'd be surprised if Spike wasn't there. John Branca might also be there. I expect he'll say something, and I imagine a Q& A is very possible. (Both came to London and did a Q and A for the Bad 25 screening)
