A central figure in the Prince death investigation is the superstar’s longtime friend and right-hand man, who had a cameo in the movie “Purple Rain.”

According to a search warrant, detectives interviewed Kirk A. Johnson — a former Prince drummer and current manager of the singer’s Paisley Park estate — following the performer’s unexpected death last month.

The court document, obtained by the Los Angeles Times, discloses that police seized Prince Rogers Nelson’s medical records from a Minneapolis-area hospital in early May. Investigators were particularly interested in files involving a family-medicine doctor who had treated Prince in the weeks before the singer was found dead April 21 in a Paisley Park elevator.

The warrant also reveals Johnson, 51, told detectives that Prince had gone to another local medical clinic for an illness in 2014 or 2015.

Despite weeks of media speculation that an addiction to prescription painkillers may have led to Prince’s sudden death, authorities haven’t announced how the 57-year-old artist died.

“I am unable to provide any comment or clarification about specifics of the investigation,” Carver County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud told Yahoo News on Tuesday.

The singer’s inner circle has also kept mum.

Johnson, who oversaw Prince’s sprawling studios and home in Chanhassen, Minn., and was described by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as Prince’s de facto bodyguard, has hired Minneapolis criminal defense attorney F. Clayton Tyler. Johnson hasn’t spoken publicly about Prince’s death, and Yahoo News messages to him weren’t returned. Johnson is also a personal trainer at Life Time Fitness in Chanhassen but hasn’t been to the gym since Prince’s passing, the AP reports.

So the media will keep treating Murray as a celebrity? Shame on them.

Murray looks well!! TOO well for a murderer.. with his ponytail, showing the chest with his shirt... The color is right (blue) but should be a jumpsuit

Have the ppls lost they mind. Why on earth would they ask Murray a question like that you know what his answer will be no that doctor should not be held accountable. His words i have done nothing wrong.

I read a article in one of the magazines there was this doctor who had overdose her patients by give them to much medication and it cause they death now she is sitting behind bar severing time 30 years to life.

If Prince was given to much medications that may have cause his death then imo that doctor should be held accountable.
They took a oath DO NO HARM Like i said this is imo i am not saying that what happen to Prince the reports are not in yet.

The battle for Prince's estate continues.

On Wednesday, two more women submitted claims in Minnesota's Carver County District Court, alleging they are entitled to a sum of the late icon's fortune.

One Atlanta resident, R. Kerr, filed a statement of claim, alleging Prince owes them $46,582.29 for "recording cost, post production, equipment rental" and "will seek further legal action" if they do not receive payment by June 1.

Meanwhile, a claim from Kimberly Felecia Potts of Tallassee, Alabama, says she is due $500,000 of the icon's estate, alleging she is responsible for Prince's 2004 album Musicology.

"I am the creator of the 'Musicology.' I created Musicology in the NPG Music Club in 2004. Prince invited me to Paisley Park in Nov. 2015 to reopen the NPG MC, and to reward me for Musicology," Potts claims in her statement, alleging her claim is secured by "NPG MC records," "conversations" and "Twitter Account chats."

Kerr and Potts did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Since Prince died April 21 at his Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen, Minnesota, a judge ruled that he did not leave a will behind. Earlier in May, that judge appointed Minnesota-based financial institution Bremer Trust as the special administrator of his estate, while his sister Tyka and five half-siblings work with the bank to settle Prince's riches in and out of court.

Between Kerr and Potts' claims and another man coming forward alleging he is a long-lost heir, the fate of the estate is far from close to being resolved.

More to come. How can these ppls remember all of this if they were own this money why did they not take care of it when Prince was alive.
It sad that ppls are going after money that they did not earn.

Sheriff: Prince Toxicology Testing Taking Longer Than Expected
May 19, 2016 8:41 PM

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It will still be another week or two before we learn just how Prince died.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office told USA Today Thursday that the additional testing by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is taking longer than normal.

Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park in Chanhassen on April 21.

The investigation into his death is reportedly focusing on prescription painkillers.

Prince May Have Been Dead for Hours Before Body Was Found: Source

Prince, who was found unresponsive in an elevator inside his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota in April, may have been dead for hours before his body was discovered, a source confirmed to ABC News.

Minneapolis' Star Tribune first reported that the late singer was likely "dead for at least six hours."

A paramedic who responded to the scene told law enforcement, Prince's staff, and others that detail, adds the newspaper.

The music legend's cause of death has not yet been announced, though an autopsy was performed April 22 and results of toxicology tests are expected in the coming weeks.

According to the Midwest Medical Examiner's office, Prince's body was returned to the family after the autopsy was completed.

Still, less than a week after the singer's death, authorities obtained a search warrant for Prince’s Paisley Park estate. The sealed paperwork was filed one day after law enforcement sources told ABC News that prescription drugs had been found in Prince’s possession and at his home.

Sources also told ABC News that investigators are looking into whether Prince died from an overdose and whether a doctor was prescribing him drugs in the weeks beforehand.

Investigators are especially interested in the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing that Prince's plane made in Illinois less than a week before the star died. At the time, his rep told ABC News that the singer had been rushed to the hospital in Illinois, where he was treated for the flu.

Days after his death, his longtime attorney L. Londell McMillan disputed suggestions that he had a drug addiction.
"People use medication. The question is, are you on meds in a dangerous way?" he said, noting that Prince was a vegan.

"Everybody who knows Prince knows he wasn't walking around drugged up," McMillan said. "That's foolish. No one ever saw Prince and said, 'He looks high.' It wasn't what he was about."

But there are more clues to what might have happened.

The singer's team contacted his client Dr. Howard Kornfeld, a California-based opioid-addiction specialist the day before he died, according to attorney William Mauzy.

Mauzy added that Kornfeld sent his son, Andrew, to meet with the singer, though when he arrived at Paisley Park, he, among others, discovered Prince unconscious in an elevator.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, a search warrant showed that Prince had met with another physician, Dr. Michael Todd Schulemberg, April 20 and April 7. Schulemberg was also present when the singer's body was discovered, since he was delivering the results of medical tests.

Prince's sister Tyka Nelson said in a Facebook post that the family will hold an official memorial in August.

That Prince tribute by Madonna...... yikes!

I just saw it did you hear what BET said Yeah we saw that we got you. Got watch the BET Awards to see what they do for Prince. WOW

I look forward to what BET has in store, I appreciate Madonna for her contribution in pop music but.... she just cannot sing!

Yeh i heard Madonna did a terrible tribute to prince .....lol

Actually, I thought the tribute was fine and doesn't deserve the backlash it got. Her outfit was perfect and the performance was pretty classy. I'm glad Questlove gave a great speech and Stevie joined her for the singalong. Yeah, she wasn't in best voice, but she's 57 and never really known as a powerhouse singer.

I did laugh at the sarcasm BET threw out there but maybe they need to remember that horrible night when they tried to honor Michael in 2009 and failed miserably.

This is the just the first tribute of many we will see this year-we still have the AMAs, the Grammies, the Oscars, NAACP image awards, etc. etc. etc. to see other great performances.

I just think people are griping about her because of ageism. She's not in her heyday anymore, but neither were Michael and Prince. If she had died instead, people would be wailing about what a great performer she was.

^^^Yes, Madonna is not known as being a vocalist like Whitney or Mariah. She is talented other ways.
I feel quite entertained by people saying she cannot sing or her voice is terrible, but then again Bruce S and Bono (as well as many other female - male singers)has terrible singing voice but people still love to hear their songs even they are not delivered a la Whitney or Freddie.

Same goes on about calling her granny or geriatric, which I find funny because both MJ and Prince are the same age, but they don't get called geriatrics:smilerolleyes:

I wonder if these same people say the same about Chaka, Tina, Aretha, Cher, Dolly being too old for stage?

There is one problem with what you're saying.... She stood there and tried to sing... That's why she is getting crap.. Was not an up tempo dance song where mediocre vocals can pull it off... she literally stood there and sang..

Like u said she makes up for it in other ways.. BUT in that performance she did not do anything else but try to sing..

You just need to add to this the hologram touring in place of the living person and the big money that brings in.

Notice how TMZ has been the main media outlet on the scene with these stories to tarnish Prince's name.
TMZ....affiliate of Time Warner which is an affiliate of Warner Bros. which we all know had a shaky past with Prince,
including the struggle over artistic freedom and ownership of his music. They admitted to "breaking" the story.

A lot of people that know Prince are coming out saying he didn't have a drug addiction...

Never trust the media. Never...

Millions of people are awakening to the truth now and it can't be stopped.. and begin to understand what's really going on in this world, on many levels.

Re: The Singer PRINCE died????

I used to be a huge fan over Prince and considered him above Michael but that changed in time. Prince was/is great. Michael is beyond great...yeah I'm sick of the comparisons too but it's inevitable. I really wish Prince would have checked his ego (or more likely insecurity) and worked with Michael on something,

Just dropping in to say that I don't get all of the Madonna hate.
Madonna wasn't/isn't on MJ's level but she was/is just as big if not bigger then Prince, so some Prince fans need to get off their high horses and give Madonna the respect she deserves.

Lately I've noticed the media is beginning to turn on Madonna by saying she's old and washed up, needs to "act and dress her age", etc while at the same time lauding and worshipping artists that may not even exist without her influence.
And all of this is coming from someone who isn't a Madonna or Prince fan in the least, so I'm unbiased and on the outside looking in.
Just figured i'd give my $0.02

CHICAGO — A law-enforcement official tells The Associated Press that tests show the music superstar died of an opioid overdose.
The 57-year-old singer was found dead April 21 at his Minneapolis-area estate.
The official, who is close to the investigation, spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
Investigators have been reviewing whether Prince died of an overdose and whether a doctor was prescribing him drugs in the weeks before his death.

According to TMZ the full report will be out tomorrow.

^ A sad report I am not surprised to read but did not want to be the result.....

Official now: Prince died of Fentanyl overdose: http://www.anokacounty.us/DocumentCenter/View/10066

Fentanyl (also known as fentanil, brand names Sublimaze,[SUP][6][/SUP] Actiq, Durogesic, Duragesic, Fentora, Matrifen, Haldid, Onsolis,[SUP][7][/SUP] Instanyl,[SUP][8][/SUP] Abstral,[SUP][9][/SUP] Lazanda[SUP][10][/SUP] and others[SUP][11][/SUP]) is a potent, synthetic opioid analgesic with a rapid onset and short duration of action.[SUP][12][/SUP] It is a strong agonist at the ?-opioid receptors. Fentanyl is approximately 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine and roughly 40 to 50 times more potent than pharmaceutical grade (100% pure) heroin.[SUP][13][/SUP][SUP][14][/SUP]

According to the report at the time of his death he had just 50 kg and was 1,60 m tall! When MJ died, acoording to the same kind of death report, he was 1,75 m tall and had 62 kg! Yet MJ was "skinny", "dying", "anorecsic", "just bones"... bla bla bla.. but Prince looked haelthy. Isn't it funny how the press can turn everything against Michael? **** the press!!
