What MJ songs that were cut do you think should've replaced released ones? (if any)

I personally think Serious Effect should've replaced She Drives Me Wild on Dangerous.

I don't think SDMW was a bad song, in fact I really like it, but imo SE trumps it by far.

Can I please just state for the record that from OTW through to History the song choice was perfect and no song I have heard from those times is better than any track that made it (possible exception of Sunset driver instead of Girlfriend).

Invincible, as we all know, should have been 50% Xscape choices and We've Had Enough.

For All Time instead of Can't Let Her Get Away on Dangerous.

Streetwalker or Fly Away instead of Just Good Friends on Bad

I agree that Streetwalker is a good song and that it should be on Bad. But it shouldn't replace Just Good Friends. That song is epic. Can't understand why fans hate that song.

Half of XSCAPE should've been on Invincible. Also Streetwalker should've replaced JGF.

I'm So Blue should have been on Bad. I can't imagine a spot where it would have thematically or aesthetically fit, and in my opinion Bad is already perfect but that song is the most excellent thing I've heard from the vaults thus far and deserves a spotlight.

Beautiful Girl should have been featured on Invincible in place of almost anything because that song is fantastic.

Shout should have been featured on Invincible in place of You Are My Life.

Well for me Sunset Driver should had replaced maybe Burn This Disco Out or She's Out Of My Life. Got The Hots should had replaced The Girl Is Mine. Despite the title of the song Abortion Papers should had been on the Bad album. That song to me is just way too amazing. Maybe replacing Another Part Of Me. Even though I do like APOM. Someone Put Your Hand Out should had replaced maybe Can't Let Her Get Away. As for the HIStory album that album to me is just perfect.

'Someone Put Your Hand Out' should've definitely replaced 'Can't Let Her Get Away' for Dangerous. Sunset Driver instead of....um....no it should've just been the 11th track on OTW. Thriller is perfect.... I wont even speak on Invincible. & i think Blood On The Dance Floor just should've been the soundtrack to Ghost....remix albums with club themes....no no...i hate mj "supposedly" gave his approval of them. I'm watching visions as i type this & i just got in my feelings....i really wish he was still here. I cant go a day without listening to him or watching him. Nothing ever gets old. I'm so sorry to get off topic????

OTW

"Sunset Driver" replace "Girlfriend"

Thriller

"Carousel" replace "The Lady In My Life"

Bad

"Streetwalker" replace "Just Good Friends"

I disagree. I LOVE SDMW. It's far better than the repetitive, a bit cliché Serious Effect IMO. The only song I don't like on Dangerous is CLHGA.

CLHGA was my other choice but the chorus alone made me change my mind.

1. Pretty much anything could replace Girlfriend. I'll go with Sunset Driver in this case.

2. Thriller was ok as is, maybe try to cut down the other songs a bit in order to get the full version of Lady In My Life on the album.

3. Streetwalker for JGF, Price Of Fame for Leave Me Alone-(which would appear as a B-side to POF on the single release)

4. Dangerous is fine as is, but if I had to make a change, Why You Wanna Trip On Me would be cut, Can't Let Her Get Away moves to track 2, everything else moves up 1 slot, and I would put Someone Put Your Hand Out on the album to close out the album.

5. HIStory would get a slight change. Come Together moves to the greatest hits disc, For All Time goes in the 8th spot on the 2nd disc.

6. BOTDF- remixes removed, On The Line added to the lineup, along with some unreleased Dangerous/HIStory era tracks like Serious Effect, She Got It, Work That Body, Monkey Business, etc

7. Invincible- total make over. At least half the album would get changed. I would add APWNN, Blue Gangsta, Shout, She Was Loving Me-(rock version), & We've Had Enough-(replace Cry, which would have been released as a stand alone 9/11 tribute along with What More Can I Give)

I can't believe so many of you want to change so much of a pristine back catalogue.

The one thing that makes Michael Jackson stand out from his contemporaries is his impeccable quality control and perfect decision making in terms of song choice.

You really would make changes on the best selling and best albums of all time?

These albums represent Chaos theory to me (ask Jeff Goldblum), any change no matter how minor would have set his career in a very different direction.

Michael knew that an album wasn't just a collection of random great songs, but a specific cohesion of material that had to segue together and make sense to the listener from first track to last.

I wouldn't change any song off any of the albums pre HIStory personally, expect maybe a finished version of Price Of Fame over Just Good Friends.

Just Good Friends is an awesome song, and I will never understand the hate it gets.

I don't think anything should be replaced. all the albums are perfect as they are. even with the songs you don't like. they kinda belong, it would be weird to have some other songs instead of them

me neither! I love Just Good Friends

concept albums

I don't think the songs on Mike's albums had anything to do with each other, not like in a concept album kind of way like Tommy by The Who or some 1970s prog rock albums or a soundtrack like Superfly by Curtis Mayfield. Concept albums are generally only about one thing. The Way You Make Me Feel has nothing to do with Smooth Criminal. Concept albums are not really about having singles and radio hits though, because in some cases an individual song might not make much sense outside the album like the Genesis album The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

I don't think it's a bad song, but it's not a great song either. Streetwalker is far superior, so is Get It which instead appeared on Stevie Wonders album.

1) I don´t care that much about OTW album... I listened to the full album like 3 or 4 times...

2) Thriller - I would cut out WBSS and include Scared of The Moon or Someone in the dark. And full version of Lady in my life.

3) Replace Just good friends with finished version of Price of fame and include finished Cheater.

4) Dangerous - shorter intro to dangerous song, replace CLHGA with Monkey bussines.

5) HIStory... Nothing would change.

7) Invincible, thought to me it is best album, I would replace cry (worst song ever) with We´ve had enough, as on the album there are soo much ballads, I would cut Lost children and replace it with CGYWOOM... And I would keep Michaels first idea about shout. Replace You are my life with shout and include You are my life as a Btrack on single.

On Invincible, I'd cut out the annoying intro for You Rock My World

Off The Wall: Fine as it is.
Thriller: Same as above.
Bad: Replace JGF with Streetwalker and I would probably add another song such as Abortion Papers, Price of Fame, Loving You or Fly Away.
Dangerous: Replace She Drives Me Wild with Someone Put You Hand Out, Monkey Business or For All Time.
HIStory: Maybe replace Come Togerther.
Invincible: Invincible (By far the worst title track of MJ's solo adult career), Privacy, Cry (rubbish song) and Heaven Can Wait out. Xscape, Hollywood Tonight, Blue Gangsta & Slave To The Rhythm in.

There are plenty of songs I feel should have been on a formal album (ie. someone put your hand out / Loving You / We've Had Eough / I Love The Way You Love Me / Cheater / Streetwalker etc) but when we get into what they should have replaced, THAT'S where I have a hard time.. I think the only album I can maybe say "take this out to put this in" is Invincible, and even that is tough for me.

In my personal opinion only the Quincy Jones albums could justifiably considered perfect in terms of track listing (though there are little things I could see wanting to be changed). Dangerous through Invincible could all be improved.
