Michael Jackson Scream - The Album

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Just another compilation album no one wants or needs. Estate must be desperate to get the contract finished with Sony so they can either renew or get a new deal elsewhere.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

They have just released the Remix. The one thing that no one has heard, they just released that. So now literally every MJ fan has the album. We already have all the songs now and we have the artwork from google. So if you buy it, you are literally only paying for just the CD case... -_-

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Anything for money!!!!
Sooo sad!!! :(

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Yeah, these are the standards of excellence I expect from Michael Jackson: a random as **** re-release of decade-old songs. Some of you are so desperate for anything MJ you'll throw money at anything it seems - I can also make this album on Spotify and I don't have to spend a dime.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

There's still one announcement left isn't it? I hope it's the Victory Tour

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Are these really going to be the same as original releases? It's an odd choice then putting Unbreakable right after Dangerous in their respective positions considering how different they sound and they're both pretty lengthy tracks

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Looks like this album is only being released digitally in September and the vinyl version is being released at the end of October. This does just seem like an iTunes playlist! I will still buy the vinyl.

Not sure how I'm meant to feel on this project. Feel left out because I'm a loyal fan...

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

You set yourself & anybody who starts running with this kind of wish(es) up for disappointment!

and what else could be? You know I'm tired of all those comments of people saying "but the Jacksons have to agree with the Estate to do it" that's bs, they want the Victory Tour to be released, don't you all remember that this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=005gOtKbF58 - was uploaded to their VEVO account and then it was removed by SME?

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Love this project! I can see the mash up playing out the animated film.

This release, alongside the animated film and Thriller project, keeps Michael's name in the spotlight. Michael would love it.

I'm going to be playing the CD outside the house on Halloween, whilst dishing the sweets out to excited children and their parents.

Best Halloween ever!

We can spend our money on anything we like, without your permission.

You get Spotify for free, I take it?

People may question why you are playing a song about a slutty groupie seducing some guy though

Does anybody even thought that there could be a new vocals? Or different takes? As the´re surely are in the mashup?

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

What are your pros and cons with Scream?

Mine are...

PROS: The Blood on the Dance Floor/Dangerous mashup really isn't bad. Trust me, I've heard worse. Somebody's Watching Me and Torture are some favorites of mine and I'm glad they're included on here. I'm also happy Thriller, Ghosts and Threatened will be on here as well. And Blood on the Dance Floor, This Place Hotel and even Dangerous are some nice choices as well. I also really like the cover art. It looks cool.

CONS: No Is It Scary. Why is Is It Scary not included?! Why? Just why?! Where's Little Susie? That would have been a great song to put on an album like this. And in my opinion, so would Smooth Criminal and Do You Know Where Your Children Are (based on their names and lyrics). And why are Scream, Dirty Diana, Leave Me Alone, Unbreakable and Xscape on here? I don't think they're qualified to be on a Halloween/horror-themed album. And why is the album titled "Scream" anyway? With the animated Halloween special coming up, why not call this album "Michael Jackson's Halloween" or something like that instead?

Depends how you look at it, based on Branca's quote below, there were to be two more announcements. One could be the film, the other, the album. Or, if counting the film and accompanying soundtrack as one, there could be another. Who knows, take it as it comes!!!

“Now we have ‘Thriller’ 3-D and two more announcements are coming up in the next couple of
weeks,” Branca said in an interview, declining to elaborate further.

“Michael had and expression: ‘the quality goes in before the name goes on,’ so we are not ready
to announce them yet,” he noted.

Asked if there may be an album of unreleased recordings from the vaults coming Branca said:
“I don’t forsee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time.” But he added:
“That doesn’t mean there won’t be interesting [new] record releases in the very near future.”

the animated film doesn't counts because it was announced before Thriller 3D ;)

Theres no new vocals in the mashup. Its very unlikely any of them are different takes or it would have been made known as a selling point. #MJScreamSpotifyPlaylistForSale

Hmm, true, so maybe there is more to come. Again, just gonna take it as it comes and enjoy. I refuse to be negative Nelly, don't care what anyone gripes about. I'm excited, and I too already have the songs listed. Doesn't matter, it's still going to be a fun release for Halloween.

Again, it's kinda sad that there is so much negativity. Can't we just try and be a little supportive? If it's not something you want, cool, take a pass on it, but it's really not necessary to trash it.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

It's pretty clear now that this album is basically the soundtrack to the animated Halloween special. Hence the playlist.

Sure, Little Susie would fit well on the album, as would other songs, but I guess they wouldn't fit in to the cartoon itself. Whoever created the cartoon would have chosen songs that fit the story itself, rather than specifically choosing songs with a ghoulish theme.

I'm still excited. I love Halloween!! ?

Agreed!!

However, lol, I do have to wonder about the choice of "Dirty Diana" for an animated Halloween film that seems geared to kids. It's a rather racy song, (although not really by today's standards I suppose). Perhaps there's a groove to it that fits somewhere in the film. Just have to wait and see!!

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Dirty Diana is positively tame compared to the songs 'the kids' listen to today. The videos? Yikes!!

I know, I know, but at the time, it was a little racy, especially for MJ. I still get a little week in the knees watching the video, very sexy without being crude. It's one of my favs!!!!

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

A for the exclusion of Is It Scary. I'm sad about that too, but if it is a soundtrack to the animated film, maybe it just didn't go well with the movie? Besides Ghosts has similar lyrics and although I think Is It Scary is the better song but I think Ghosts is maybe more accessible to a general public and more on the fun-horror side than Is It Scary.

I am pretty sure both Sony and the Estate are aware of the reality of record sales these days (esp. for non-current artists). I guess it is also going to be put on Spotify, so it is not like the Estate is trying to make young people buy CDs. I think it is simply an accompanying album to a bigger campaign that seems to focus on MJ's horror themed releases around Halloween. Actually, it might even prove to be smart on the long term, because just like people keep buying certain Christmas albums every Christmas, maybe this will become the ultimate Halloween album over the years, that will sell at every Halloween. Just like Thriller the song itself has a Halloween boost every year.

This. Frankly, to me the constant whining and moaning is starting to take out the fun of being an MJ fan. This is by far the most negative fandom I know and it is not serving MJ well IMO. And yes, the whining was also there with projects like Xscape that proved to be pretty successful and where the Estate tried to compromise between old fans and aiming at new fans. I remember when LNFSG was announced as the first single and people were throwing tantrums about that here. And the whining was also there about Bad25 which spoilt us with many formerly unreleased tracks. So yes, I sometimes have the feeling that no matter what, the MJ fandom would always whine. And maybe that's why the Estate doesn't even try to please them any more, instead focuses on causual fans.

I am not saying this is a very exciting project for hard core fans, but thing is one week ago we didn't even know something was even gonna be released and now people are throwing tantrums about no new songs as if they have been promised something but stabbed in the back instead. When Branca said over and over again that there wouldn't be new songs any time soon. Not saying hard core fans have to buy it, or even like it, but frankly the overreaction ("pathetic", "the Estate is killing MJ's legacy" etc.) is annoying. Nothing with MJ's music is "pathetic" to me. Nothing that has MJ's original music is "killing his legacy". So please cut the drama! You only harm MJ with that.

This!!!!! 1000 times, THIS!!! Well said!!!

Oh I agree, it's brilliant.

Just replying to those that think today's youngsters will be shocked at the lyrics. LOL

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

I actually don't think this is the soundtrack to the Halloween special. The inclusion of Dirty Diana and Dangerous prove this to me. Dangerous even has "damn" in it. Not suitable for a kids special. This may just be a Halloween album that, as respect77 said, will be bought every year. Michael never put out a Christmas album, so maybe this could be his version of a Christmas album.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

I must say, I like the mashup!! Didn't think I would enjoy it. It sounds almost like a new song, but sometimes there is too much going on.

Re: #MJScream - Coming 29th September.

Leave the haters. That's all they have.

One guy literally hasn't put a comment anywhere on this site for 12 months but comes on today to tell us....................get ready.......................breaking news.....................it's worth the 12 months wait............. he's not buying the album!

What a waste of energy that was.

It could be that, for some of the songs, only the music is used during the film?
