I Am a Fan, But... (What Makes You Heretic Among Other Fans?)

The Thriller performances from the HIStory tour was really cheesy and cringy to watch. Especially with the fake MJ dancing around like he had too many cups of coffee.

Thriller on the Dangerous Tour was even more cringy lol Especially during the day shows when you saw people covered in black attire regulating the movements of the zombies. Hahaha

On another note though, I think Thriller from This Is It would have been the ultimate Thriller live experience

Human Nature didn't sound that good on the Dangerous Tour. MJ's vocals sound really out of breath, which is odd, because it was only the 3rd song performed on that tour. And later on in the show his vocals got better.

I didn't like it when Michael was on stage on the floor kicking his legs up in the air - reminds me of my toddler - oooh I said it! He does it in This is it - let it burn bit lol and I think on Dangerous tour, Bucharest. I should like it but I don't.

Come Together/D.S on the HIStory Tour is a massive WTF performance. Good thing he dropped for Blood On The Dance Floor

I WTF all three of these comments. Lol.

I always feel so much empathy for Michael when I hear his breathlessness in concerts.....after all he did have lupus, with lung lesions as a result.

Anything that shows MJ's butt in the air is fine by me.

D.S. is a bit weird with all the S & M masks, etc., but Come Together is awesome to see being performed live on stage.

The highlight of the 30th anniversary concert was Michael out dancing Usher. Not the Jacksons medley, which sounded wrong with rougher adult vocals

'The Man' is the best collaboration with Paul Maccartney

The Jacksons variety show is underrated, and displays Michael's evolution as a performer

Michael didn't need to grab, or thrust his pelvic area when dancing.

The videos for 'don't stop til you get enough', 'blame it on the boogie', and 'can you feel it' are revolutionary in their own right

I one hundred percent agree about the Jackson variety shows. It was a wonder to watch Michael become what he did back in real time. He may not of enjoyed it, but no perfectionist enjoys not having enough rehearsal time. I think most of his education there shows up in the videos that he did later.

And I'll add that I don't mind the pelvic thrust, but I do highly dislike the crotch grabbing. As far as I'm concerned it was unnecessary.
The only time it worked, for me, was when he used it to accentuate a pow moment in Heartbreak Hotel

You are very fortunate to have watched those shows in real time. I hope that we'll get an official worldwide release one day.

It was an example of Michael's acting ability which prepared him for 'The Wiz'; he convinced me he was having a whale of a time! I like to think it was the comedy, canned laughter, sets, and how rushed the process was, that Michael disliked. Rather than the dance numbers themselves. I'd still like to know who choreographed 'Get Happy'!

It was the dancing that lived up to the 'variety' title; from tap, to popping and locking (years before he met Jeffry Daniels), robot, the splits, and Broadway style routines that he would return to later on with 'Beat It'. It was interesting to see his hopping with the back leg, evolve into the skipping with the front. Of course, we can't forget the trademark, and my favourite, tornado spin! 'On the wall' was one of my favourite segments.

I also loved hearing him sing 'I'll Be There' as the closing. He learned to adjust his new voice to the old songs.

He was a warm and personable host. Probably the most that he ever interacted on that level with an audience.

His teen years were trial and error, and he stepped to the challenge with a smile on his face, and passed with flying colours!

I see so many posts wishing that Michael did more live singing, engaged with the audience more, tried different moves, stripped things down, etc. Truth is, he did it all. You just have to broaden your minds and be wiling to look closer to the root..

On the Dangerous tour, songs were sped up and he put it ALL out there.. so yeah by the 3rd song, out of breath! If the tempo in the first two was slightly slower it would have made a worlds difference...

One unpopular thought I have had, it took several years to "except" the gold pants in History.. In fact I did not like the Dangerous outfit either. a leotard on Michael is not my thing lol The jackets were cool in on that tour, I favor the black military jacket with the gold bars coming across etc. but that leotard, I feel weird showing people that outfit... still! if I am not sure how open minded they are.

I know a lot of fans who don't like the Leothong (male and female). Lol. For me, it definitely took some getting used to and it is not my favourite concert attire, by any stretch of the imagination. I DO like the Gold Pants, however. I've noticed that many male fans look at them with a whole lot of WTF, though.

I love the 'Billie Jean' video. It's one of my, if not absolute, favourite(s)

I love the pink jump suit he wore for 'Working Day And Night' on the 'Victory' tour

Not a fan of the military style jackets or overall theme

'Going Placss' is my favourite Jacksons album

'who's loving you' would have worked better as an adult lyrically. even though he did an amazing job vocally as a child. many of the Motown songs were inappropriate for him to be singing - such as 'mamas pearl' and 'touch'.

would much rather hear him do originals. I didn't really like 'smile'. mostly because of the production though. can't fault his voice on that..

I never noticed those gold pants until I saw fans online obsess over them. then again, I'm never actively looking for that kind of thing.. the dangerous outfit was harder to miss, and I didn't like it. I believe that was a fencing outfit. I doubt that he would purposely wear clothes that highlighted that part of him. he already made it clear that he didn't like to be viewed in that way and if he knew what fans were thinking, he wouldn't even go onstage.

I've heard that the Dangerous Tour costume was based on a fencing outfit, and not a leotard. Maybe it was based on both

It definitely was based on a fencing suit. Michael Bush spoke about the origins of it in his book, "The King of Style." The BAD Tour silver, black and red shirts were exactly the same, except Michael wore the crotch part of them inside his pants, not on the outside. "Leothong" is just a nick name for it, amongst myself and some of my MJ fan friends and so now I've come around to calling it that, all the time. I know all about it, believe me. Lol.

To me, it always looked like a bodyshirt-which were really popular in the 70's disco days to keep our shirts from flying out. But about 10 years ago I was on YouTube and a girl was drooling over his Dangerous costume-and correctly said it was a fencing outfit. I just always hated it.

Now, if it had been all black, like these pictures-maybe I could watch the Dangerous Tour. Lol.

What makes me a heretic? I enjoy Smooth Criminal and Dangerous, but they're not on my top ten list of MJ songs.

LOL. Me, too!! Although to be fair, my top ten changes like the wind. One to five is stable, but six to ten varies with my mood.

When someone claims that (insert whatever name who's trendy at the moment) could be better than Michael it pisses me off a great deal :grrrrrr and even more if those statements/opinions come from the MJ fandom.

I think 'just good friends' is much better than 'get it'.

Whenever someone questions why Michael had friendships with children, I hate how some fans defend that by saying ''He never had a childhood'' - I think that is a really weak defense. I always say ''Yeah, it's not common, but his friendships with children were completly innocent''
