Next year will mark J5's 50 Anniversary. That would be a huge opportunity for Universal/Motown as well as Sony/Epic(& Estate of MJ) to release some previously unreleased songs (doesn't matter if J5/Jacksons or MJ solo)
There are about 100 more songs that still await their release. To name a few: Lavendar Blue / To Sir With With Love / Be My Girl / After The Storm The Sun Will Shine / I've Gotta Be Me / What's So Good About Goodbye / Daydreamer / She Say Want / Yesterday / Ace Up My Sleeve / Aged In Love / What’s So Good About Goodbye.ChrisC;4234759 said:Motown have already released hundreds of songs that were once unreleased. I'd be surprised if there was much left.
I don't know why but I get a feeling that something is coming, it's too quiet, like the calm before the storm
Hopefully that storm would be new music

Maybe we'll get unreleased songs from the 1969 Bobby Taylor sessions, which imo would be perfect for a 2019 release (on the 50th Anniversary of their recording).
Is there any confirmation about the existence of I'll Be There and Never Can Say Good Bye adult version that would have been on Decade?

Does anyone know what MJ did for Decade? I've heard all sorts, ranging from Never Can Say Goodbye all the way to Strawberry Fields Forever. It was a rumour that MJ was creating so much he decided to skip Decade and do a full blown album of what he was making.
Long post incoming
Decade was conceptualized by John Branca in response to the unrealistic standards (i.e., outselling Thriller) Michael inflicted on himself and his team during the Bad sessions. Branca felt that a greatest hits set would both lessen any pressure of having to compete or exceed oneself and provide the opportunity for a break from extended recording/touring, all the while still providing something to hold the fans over. An August deadline was set, with a Thanksgiving release earmarked.
According to J. Randy Taraborrelli, the proposed track list was...
... as well as a handful of new songs, which Michael started working on circa June 1989. Whether or not "Never Can Say Goodbye" and/or "I'll Be There" were recorded remains contested -- no one reputable has commented on it -- though both Bill Bottrell and Brad Sundberg have effectively ensured that "Strawberry Fields Forever" doesn't exist.
- "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough"
- "Rock With You"
- "Off the Wall"
- "She's Out of My Life"
- "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"
- "The Girl is Mine"
- "Thriller"
- "Beat It"
- "Billie Jean"
- "Human Nature"
- "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)"
- "Bad"
- "The Way You Make Me Feel"
- "Man in the Mirror"
- "I Just Can't Stop Loving You"
- "Dirty Diana"
- "Smooth Criminal"
- "Someone in the Dark"
- "State of Shock"
- "Heartbreak Hotel"
- "Come Together"
- "Never Can Say Goodbye (Adult Version)"
- "I'll Be There (Adult Version)"
By September 1989, Michael was entertaining the idea of scrapping Decade altogether and moving forward with a full-length album, partly because he was uncertain of the proposed format (e.g., what songs to include/exclude, the overall purpose of a greatest hits album) and partly because his newer material had whet his appetite and he wanted to keep creating. He was particularly proud of "Black or White," "Heal the World" (then titled "Feed the World") and "Earth Song" (then referred to as both "Earth" and "What About Us") and felt that including them on a greatest hits album would be a disservice.
It wasn't until summer 1990, after failing to meet at least two proposed deadlines and battling with CBS over the terms of his contract, that he ditched Decade in favor of what would ultimately become Dangerous.
It's hilarious to think that greatest hits album could be made after 3 solo albums. If that's true, I doubt it [Taraborelli is not a reputable source], it would've sucked. Thank god we got Dangerous!
I was always under the assumption Decade was to fulfil the 'Greatest Hits' release in the contract.

Even though only 3 solo albums were released in those 10 years, almost every single Michael released between 79 and 89 was a top 10, top 5, or number 1 hit. To have all of those in one collection during the bad era would have been a HUGE success.

Hear hear!Thank god we ended up getting Dangerous, what a great album. It became a big part of MJ's legacy selling over 30 million copies around the world and is still the 3rd biggest selling album by a male solo artist ever (Thriller is #1, Bad is #2). I believe Dangerous is MJ's best album, it has heavy black influence and is literally a mural of multiple genres. It has ROCK (Give Into Me), POP (Black Or White, Who Is It, Remember The Time, In The Closet), GOSPEL (Will You Be There, Keep The Faith), Jack Swing (Dangerous, She Drives Me Wild, I Can't Let Her Get Away), sappy Balads (Heal The World), and elements of RAP/HIP HOP (Jam, She Drives Me Wild, rap verse on Black Or White).

Is bad really #2? I used to state that back on the day but when I look at sales numbers I dont see it at #2 anymore.. for a while!
Worldwide, Bad is actually around #12.
By a male, solo artist?
