Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

It makes a difference in terms of their description of the alleged events. In my experience (I used to do transcriptions of police interviews with kids who have been sexually abused, so I'm no expert, but I have heard a ton of stories), even teenagers and adults won't call being abused "having sex." It's just not a term that comes up. Most people draw a very distinct line between consensual "sex" and abuse/molestation, and they won't use one term to describe the other. This is not to say that no one who has actually been abused would ever refer to it as sex, but it is highly unusual.

Dan Reed has said that he specifically wanted them to use the term "sex" and talk very explicitly. He claimed that was so people wouldn't misunderstand the story, but the bigger reason seems to be to amp up the shock factor. For what it's worth, throughout the movie, they do refer to it as sex, which is one of many ways that their accounts differ from actual abuse victims. Words matter, especially when, as they claim is the case in the movie, someone is talking in a stream of consciousness and is not scripted.

Very much agree. But then thats nambla dan for you.

Except, the arbitration with HBO. What's the next steps from the Estate?

Yeah.... when children would describe sexual abbuse as "having sex" istead of using other words I would see a red flag in it.
But when this grown man who say that they occupy themself with what had happen to them as children for over six years still call it mostly sex in LN I see again a NAMBLA backround behind LN and a scripted movie where thr familymembers don't really talk freely in the interviews.

When Reed wanted percifically that Wade and James describe what should have happened to them as children sex in LN, he seriouly semed to have a strong connection to NAMBLA with their destinations and should be investigated further.

This LN came out at the same time that a book came out for school to teach kids about pedophilia as another sexual orientation. Strange timing isn't ... whoever" wrote that book should never see the light of day."

Does someone know anything about this book?

I belong to the people who are a little bit dissapointed from the podcast episodes from the Michael Jackson Innocent Project.
Its not good that they have problems with critizism!
I know some podcasts like anyone who is younger and that they could do a much better job to structure the episodes and made more interesting for the listeners.
To answer choosen questions which the listeners can send them before they start recording the actual episode would be for example much better instead of answer nealy everything what people wrote in the chat and asking back if they have understand the question right and other stuff.

Wait, what book is this?! I hadn't heard about this before. Is it connected with anyone involved with LN? So messed up.

Whould you guys who have watched LN confirm that when they describe in the movie what should have happened between the children and Michael they mostly called it SEX not ABUSE or MOLESTATION or anything simular?

Im don't really wanna read the full LN transcript to know if this claim of the Michael Jackson Innocent Project is true.

Wade Robson describes most of his "abuse" in the film as "sexual stuff", while James Safechuck consistently refers to it throught the film as "having sex".

Further down the 'Confidentiality' section is a sentence which begins : HBO shall not make any disparaging remarks.... or do any act which may harm or disparage or may cause to lower in esteem the reputation or public image of performer...etc. (The whole section under 'Confidentiality' has to be read together.)

Ok I really need to read the whole thing to see how this fits together.
The quote taken out of context (as quoted on here) DOES NOT support the MJ Estate's position but perhaps it does when the whole section is read in full as you suggest.

EDIT:

Yes I read the whole 'confidentiality provisions' section and see where you're coming from now.

https://3xf8fq40r09d2057kq393vj4-wp...ads/2019/02/0221_Michael-Jackson-Contract.pdf

HBO shall not, in any manner nor at any time (either during or after HBO's contact or HBO's relationships with Licensor and/or Performer), use or disclose, directly or indirectly, even in the course of casual discussions, to anyone other than representatives of Licensor or other persons designated by Licensor any of the following described information (the "Confidential Information"): any information, data, documents, or other materials of any kind or nature in any way related to Performer from any source or for any reasons, including without limitation, as acquired by HBO in the course of HBO's contact with Licensor and Performer. Confidential Information shall also include, without limitation, any Information relating to Licensor's business affairs or operations, the business affairs, operations and/or personal life of Performer, the business affairs or operation of any and all entities in which Performer has controller interest, which Information is generally not known to the public. Confidential Information shall also include, without limitation, any and all photographs, films, videos, music or other recordings, Including negatives, prints, or copies thereof, relating to Performer or his likeness or any of his corporations and/or other entities, and/or corporations or other entities doing business or in any way related to Performer, and/or and of his or their activities. All such Confidential Information shall be deemed to be private, secret and sensitive and shall be kept confidential and secret unless Licensor otherwise advises HBO in writing in each instance.

I think this section is particularly strong.

It shows the agreement extends beyond the concert broadcast itself. BUT no end date/event, e.g. death, is stipulated. This will be a matter of serious debate!

It extends to ANY information, data documents etc, and it does not matter what the source of information is, HBO is stil bound by this agreement to not use or disclose the information. I.e. they cannot claim the film was made by somebody else so they're not at fault. They have a duty to vet the content and abide by the agreement.

It shows "Confidential Information" is ANYTHING that pertains to his personal life, business or operations. I'd say Leaving Neverland breaches ALL of these, but the discussion about alleged events during the Dangerous Tour (and around that time) will be particularly relevant.

It says that HBO can be released form their obligations ONLY if the Licensor informs them in writing. I'm quite certain that didn't happen here.

Isn't some of the lawyers of the Estate who have participated in writing this contract ?

Yeah since I saw and hear a MJFan in a video reading this section and others of the HBO contract from 1992 I know that the the Estate has very good chances to win this case!
I hope B. Barnes an maybe Mac when he decided to join him has good chances to win aginst them too!
Its very evil that they had no skrupel to make globally child abbuse victims, liars under oath and protectors of a ciminal out of both of them, present MJ in the Jordan Chandler and Gavin Aviso case where he was fully aquitted in as guilty, say in the promoting interviews of LN that it is not imagiable that Michael Jackson surrounded himself with children for any other reson then abbusing them instead of only presented their case!

Nice to see Madonna reminding that MJ is innocent until proven guilty.
She talked about money and allegations too.

Madonna Defends Michael Jackson Over Sex Abuse Allegations: ‘People Are Innocent Until Proven Guilty’
The pair became friends at the height of their fame.
By Matt Bagwell

Madonna has spoken out over the allegations of sex abuse levelled against Michael Jackson, insisting “people are innocent until proven guilty”.

The Like A Prayer singer, who took Jackson as her date to the Oscars in 1991, admitted she had not yet watched the documentary Leaving Neverland, in which two men, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, allege that they were sexually abused as children by the Billie Jean singer.

Madonna told British Vogue: “I don’t have a lynch-mob mentality, so in my mind, people are innocent until proven guilty.

“I’ve had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true. So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, ‘Can you prove it?’”

Asked what would constitute proof of Jackson’s guilt, she replied: “I don’t know, I haven’t seen the film. But I guess it would be people recounting actual events – but then, of course, people sometimes lie.

“So I always say, ‘What’s the agenda? What do people want out of this? Are there people asking for money, is there some kind of extortion thing happening?’ I would take all of those things into consideration.”

Referring to the Leaving Neverland documentary, she said: “I guess I’ll get around to seeing it. I haven’t seen it yet.”

The film, which was shown on Channel 4 in March, was met by a furious reaction by the Jackson estate, which denied the allegations and lambasted the documentary as “an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in” on Jackson.

Following its broadcast, singer Barbra Streisand was criticised for saying the men who claim Jackson abused them were “thrilled to be there”.

She later posted an apology online, saying “I am profoundly sorry for any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully about Michael Jackson and his victims.”

I wonder what Madonna fans (who believes MJ is guilty) will say after Madonna declaration !

Kudos to Madonna! It's simple common sense (and the basics of the rule of law) what she said, but sadly it takes courage to express it openly nowadays :/.

<menu type="context" id="fcltHTML5Menu"><menuitem command="context" label="Copy Link Text"></menuitem></menu>"... Michael Jackson and his victims.”

strong hate @barbara streisand.

Good for Madonna. Never one to bite her tongue, I like her response. She's been in the game long enough to know how the "vultures" get down.

In my opinion, she handled the questions correctly. I have a feeling that a bunch of OTHER A-Listers feel the same way as Madge, but don't know how to articulate their answers like she did. Good for you Madonna, Good for you!!!!!!

Dan Reed is going to be pissed when he finds out that Madonna is NOT on his side!!! LOL. I wish I could see his face.

P.S. A few days ago, Madonna received an award from Glaad. I swear the jacket she was wearing was a "shout-out" to Michael. Did anyone else notice the jacket she was wearing?

I LOVE how Madonna put that into words. Just what I was saying. This can happen to all of them because people lie and want something to gain. I have to give it to her. That reminds me of Denzel Washington response to a reporter. She said the RIGHT questions. And when u examine it, it shows u who is clearly truthful.

Yeah big respect to Madonna. She nailed it with a very level-headed response.

She answered it the way EVERY CELEB should answer. And it is clear it is BS what Wade/James did. What she did was make a person THINK and she put herself in the issue: (I’ve had a thousand accusations hurled at me that are not true. So my attitude when people tell me things about people is, ‘Can you prove it?’”).
