That member is a strange one, for sure. The persistent use of such terms is definitely worth an infraction if it continues.

My name's Sammy, I'm a researcher at VICE - an international media outlet.


I'm currently conducting some research for a documentary series we're producing about fans of some of the world's biggest, but also controversial stars.
The aim of each short film is to get a perspective of these superstars and the controversy that surrounds them from some of their biggest fans. I must stress that these films are not investigative in their nature - our aim isn't to expose anyone or shine a critical light on either the superstars or their fans - we just want to document a slice of life from the fans who give their all to follow and support their idols, and the potential conundrums they face when their names are dragged through the dirt.


As a Michael Jackson fanclub committed to preserving Michael&#8217;s legacy, I would love to have a chat with some representatives of MJJ Community to run some questions by you and see whether you would be interested in contributing to our project.

For real though, given the nature of their documentaries and the articles they put out, I think participating in this is probably not a good idea.

I agree. Better to continue to celebrate Michael's life and legacy in a positive way and make it about MICHAEL, not his fans. It seems strange that someone wants to make a documentary about the fans, not the man.

NatureCriminal has been driving me round the twist lately. The constant drama. If I say she's done something wrong or if someone disagrees with her she gets out the victim complex and makes out she's being bullied. She expects to just be left to do whatever she wants and for everyone to tiptoe around her all the time. If you have a problem, that doesn't mean the entire universe revolves around you. That's not how the world works and certainly not how the internet works. This is a discussion forum with people of all kinds, with varied views and opinions. A structured environment with rules that everyone has to follow. Beyond people being respectful, she can't expect special treatment or to be above the rules. She already gets away with a lot. Like the insane amount of pointless consecutive posts all the time, despite being told many times not to do it. There is literally pages of consecutive posts in that thread about Michael's change of style after Thriller. Good lord.

I agree with you, Anna. You might remember that I said something about the way she drives me mad, very early in the piece. I try to be understanding, but as you say, she does expect special treatment, which is not fair to everyone else. There would be plenty of other members on here with disabilities, special needs, mental disorders and delays, etc., but they don't fly it like a flag in their signature and they don't expect to be treated differently from anyone else.

I'm not sure what else we can do, other than a temporary ban (??). Particularly when she doesn't take notice of rule reminders and requests from us, or from other members who feel constantly annoyed with her.

Yeah. If she can't follow the rules and basic instructions, she probably shouldn't be on here. It's not right that we spend so much of our time cleaning up after one person because they can't or won't listen. I always try to be patient and understanding too, but yeah, we need to have limits. I just spoke to Gaz about her and he said we can do whatever we want, so there's that.

A little update on Elton-Cetera: They posted a bunch of crazy conspiracy theory stuff saying that Jordan Chandler is Michael's son... I deleted it and told them not to do it again.

Well, if they continue to make so much work for us, I'm up for deleting them, at least temporarily. LOL

I'm not sure what is wrong with Elton-Cetera, but there's something weird going on there, for sure. It's like they're just now discovering things on the internet and posting them, willy-nilly all over the place. A lot of the time, it's some ridiculous video (or discussion topic) that has been around in the fandom for years and often already on this forum. Argh! The entire debate about the long list of different people who are apparently Michael's son is SO tiresome and frustrating.
 
Anna, have you noticed this thread, by Miss Rose? It began as an introduction thread, I think, although now she is up to about five pages and 67 posts! She is using it like a stream of consciousness, of sorts and is basically just talking to herself, while acting as though she's talking to the members. A few people answered her in the beginning, but no one is bothering to reply to her, now. She is saying some very strange things about herself.....one of them is that she believes that vampires are real, but there is SO much more. I find the thread rather unsettling and I'm not sure if it belongs here; albeit it IS in the "Anything Goes" section. Haha!

Have a scroll through and see what you think. Gaz probably won't care. Lol

I don't even know what to think... But I guess we just leave her to it, unless she makes a post that breaks the rules.

Do you ever secretly wish that NatureCriminal would give it a rest and just SHUT UP for a couple of days?? I certainly do.

I've taken to just going straight to her profile page to check her "latest posts" and "latest started threads", before doing anything else, because it's in her posts and threads that the mess usually resides! Sigh...

Yes... I really do. Over 2,000 posts since April. It's ridiculous. Every thread she uses ends up clogged with pointless consecutive posts. Having to move and delete her posts/threads all the time really gets on my nerves sometimes. And we may as well be talking to a brick wall when we tell her not to do something.

Exactly. I'm going to start merging her consecutive posts (you know, the ones where she's mostly talking to herself) into one post. I've already done that once today. Maybe she'll take the hint??

I often just delete her crappy, superfluous, repetitive threads, too, without any ceremony at all, because I've asked her so many times to post one-off items/topics in the MJJ Miscellaneous thread! She just won't do it and it's too much work to move them all.

I wonder if it's possible for Gaz to take away her permissions to start threads, considering she doesn't understand how the whole process works and doesn't check to see if certain thread topics already exist??

I might ask him on WhatsApp.

P.S. Your signature mantra is spot on. LOL!!

I've merged her posts before, because the amount was just totally insane, but since she does it all the time I don't usually bother. She's been told not to do it so many times and it still hasn't sunk in.

Yeah, well if she's going to ignore what we say, she needs to get used to just having her posts/threads removed. And since it happens so often and she ignores my PMs, I don't bother to tell her when I delete a thread, unless it's because it violated a rule.

Would be great if Gaz could stop her making threads. Though that also creates a new problem, because she'll start putting all that pointless crap in other places.

LOL. I thought a reminder might be useful, since some people on here are apparently incapable of doing these things of their own volition.
 
She put the same post about how well Thriller is doing, in multiple threads!! I have deleted them all as spam. I am SO close to banning her, right now.

She'd probably just start up another account, under a different name, though, so we'd perhaps have to ban the IP address as well.

Yeah, she does it all the time and it drives me up the wall. I've done the temporary ban, so now we have 30 days of peace. If she does make another account, she won't be hard to spot...

Yes I did, actually. I didn't think it would matter how it was deleted. Discussion about another member, why they didn't accept friend requests and why they might have been banned, etc. isn't really appropriate - especially in that particular thread. Those members probably aren't aware that the ban is temporary and that she could be back, so the discussion might end up being a little embarrassing for them, I reckon.

Okay. Well Gaz said nothing should be hard-deleted, that's why I asked. I think it's important so we can all keep track of what's going on. Especially since threads have been disappearing.

I usually DO soft-delete...this isn't my first rodeo. I just didn't this time, because of the number of posts discussing all the ins and outs of the situation.

NatureCriminal has been online every day since the ban. I would have thought that she wouldn't be able to log in, but obviously she can....otherwise she has just stayed permanently logged in. I guess that means she'll be posting again, when December comes around.

Well if she's not put into moderation she will probably just end up getting banned again.
