Let's end the confusion about MJ's unreleased tracks here

If such thread exists then I'm sorry but I am very confused often with all the thread talking about unreleased music. Some say there is nothing left, others say there is plenty left. I'm clueless, perhaps one thread about all the 100% completed tracks would make things clearer for me (and maybe for others like me). At least this way we have an idea of what we can expect the coming years

So "Chicago 45" and "throwing your life away" are supposedly 100% vocally completed in all aspects. What are the sources? Is there more or is this it?

So it's true there really isn't much left, most of these have leaked in some capacity. I count 11 songs that I've never heard before. Now obviously I haven't heard the original behind the mask either but the version on "Michael" makes it not one of the unheard songs anymore.
I heard different things about Victory though, it was a very rough demo, I doubt it got near being finished.

I am sure that there are more songs. They considered 24 tracks for XSCAPE. There was a songs named „Turning Me Off“ that was considered for that album. Then there is „I Was The Loser“, „Hot Fun In The Summertime“ and „Jungle“. And I was told that there are 4 usable songs from 2005-2009. Then we have will.i.am and redone-tracks and so on.

@Fuzball What’s your source about „Truth about Youth“?

Whilst the number of songs is indeed pretty low in the grand scheme of things, there are plenty of song titles we know basically nothing about.

Michael Prince said that he would be happy to clear up some confusion over certain titles once the world begins to calm down some and we can all assemble once again. I don't know what forum this will take place in, but I am very excited to hear from him!

How many of the 24 XSCAPE contenders have already been leaked though? Six of the album's eight tracks were old bootlegs, and at least two of the songs in the running ("I Was the Loser" and "If You Don't Love Me") have been heard in some capacity.

"Hot Fun in the Summertime" is only a chorus; that's why John McClain and Aaron Reid (A&R for Island Def Jam) called in D'Angelo and Mary J. Blige to fill in the huge gaps. I don't have much of an interest in this one personally.

"Jungle" was never recorded, according to Damien Shields; only the Dr. Freeze demo exists.

Same goes for the RedOne collaborations: Shields said that only sparse ideas existed. Not sure how accurate this is since RedOne himself said that he had a couple tracks worth releasing, but hey, who knows?

will.i.am said in 2008 that they finished two songs, but he's been steadfast against releasing them. (And by "steadfast," I mean he isn't willing to let the Estate use them, but he's more than happy to try to toss them on his own project.)

It was mentioned being in a non-mixed state w/ completed vocals. In December 1996, it was briefly considered for inclusion on Blood - but don't nail me on that, I might mixing things up. I have to find the og source on

"I Have This Dream" (the 2005 version) is also finished and ready to go.

No idea if there's a Michael solo demo, but John Barnes has spoken incredibly highly of it and said it's the one song he hopes is released in the near future. I think, especially nowadays, we could use a song like that.

Also, "Bottom of My Heart" (the later version of "I Have This Dream") doesn't have vocals, so no use waiting on that one.

Christmas song was just kids. Heard it at a seminar and that was the only intention.

Weird a later version of an already existing song would just have no vocals on it at all, especially one that is apparently complete

Truth About Youth. I think that's the other LL Cool J track.

yea, that's definitely the second finished track with LL.
hoping that we will get that one in the future, since I'm also a huge LL fan.

they did two songs, both complete vocally.

but knowing LL, chances are low that we get unreleased stuff where he contributed... he has loads of unreleased stuff himself which he keeps private (~30 unreleased songs with Dr.Dre).

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I guess it depends on how close "Bottom of My Heart" echoes "I Have This Dream". If it's a "Streetwalker"/"Dangerous" type situation, where the later song sounds nothing like the original, it makes sense.

There are 2 different versions registered with BMI, each one has different writers beside of MJ. Weird thing is, MJ said in an interview in 1999 that he cowrote IHTD with Foster and Bayer Sager.

I HAVE THIS DREAM
BMI Work # 4933089
SONGWRITER/COMPOSER
JACKSON MICHAEL JOE
KIPKER RIC L

Why (Version MJ Solo)
Ghost Another of Lover (a very nice demo)

There are conflicting accounts on the state of MJ's Why demo, some have said it only has chorus vocals and nothing more, whilst others have said that he did indeed record the whole song. It is much more likely that only chorus vocals exist in my opinion.

Faces is an instrumental piece with spoken intro. You can find it on YouTube if you so desire.

"Faces" is an instrumental groove featuring a spoken word verse from Michael. It was recorded in 1994 as a planned collaboration with Nelson Mandela, but it never materialized.

"Rich Girl" isn't a Hall and Oates cover. That's all Brad Buxer said about it, lmao.

"Adore You" echoes "Will You Be There" in sonic terms. It was first written during the Invincible sessions and continued to resurface over the years. At one point, Brad recorded a 30-person choir in his house for it. Not sure exactly how complete it is, but Brad said it's one of the songs he wishes Michael had the opportunity to finish.

"Children's Holiday" is one of two songs (the other being "People of the World") written and produced for the Japanese charity-oriented group J-Friends in 1998 and released on 21 January 1998. In all likelihood there's a scratch vocal demo in existence, made as a foundation for a Japanese lyricist.

"Jungle" (also known as "Jungle City") was written and produced by Dr. Freeze in 1998 using a musical loop from Brad Buxer. Damien Shields described it as "an up-tempo track... with rap-style verses about first-world problems and systematic corruption reminiscent of "Tabloid Junkie" and gritty choruses much like "Why You Wanna Trip on Me." Michael never recorded vocals for it.

No information is available on "Photographs" or "Colorblind," other than that the former was twice registered with the US Copyright Office in 2009-10.

There are multiple YouTube uploads of that piece. Do you (or someone else here) know which one is the best in terms of quality and authenticity? I’m not much interested in remastered or remixed versions. Thank you. :)

I know you said you're not interested in remasters but this is probably the most complete version, all the others are just snippets.

With MJ vocals or the voice of Dr.Freeze?
