Thats great. The more exposure the better. Keep sharing on high viewed mj videos :) We should plan a group hashtag on twitter eventually. If the estate knew about the old wembley petitions than they WILL know about this one.

Also, as part of the Bad 25th anniversary celebration, the Wembley concert from the Bad Tour was released on DVD. Michael’s performance at this concert is certainly the best live concert performance by any artist ever. As explained at the time, had we been able to locate any original source films/tapes for this performance we would have used those to create a fully edited concert. Unfortunately, that was not the case and we released the only thing we found – Michael’s own viewing copy of the concert. We continue to search for the original elements in the hopes that one day we will be able to share this concert in the best possible format. Just like the fans, we would be ecstatic if this happens.

The Estate has every intention of upgrading Michael’s short films wherever possible. Upgrading Michael’s short films is more akin to what is required for older theatrical motion pictures as opposed to music videos by other artists in large part due to all of the work (e.g., effects, etc.) customarily done on each short film beyond the actual filming and the manner and format in which all of that work was originally done. A few short films, like “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal”, have 35 mm masters where the upgrade is expensive but much more doable. However, that is not the case for most of the short films and, in these cases, the process is more expensive and requires more work (and time). In some cases, it may not even be possible if all we have is a poor quality master tape and no original source materials are located. It is important for fans to understand that not everything that was created by Michael actually made it into Michael’s storage facilities (including, for example, the high def footage of the full Bad Tour concert at Wembley even though we know that Michael shot “Another Part of Me” at that and other concerts on film to create the short film for that song). But we will continue to look for the best solution for the challenges we face with each of the short films and we look forward to sharing the upgraded short films when the work required has been completed.

It looks like they don't have them. I hope they keep searching for them and they should contact the people who worked on the tour.

That FAQ still hasn't explained how they found Wembley July 14th The Way You Make Me Feel, which was shamelessly dubbed with edited multitrack audio and labeled as July 15th in the DVD bonus.

July 16th shouldn't be the best Bad Tour performance because it doesn't even have a full setlist. I think they chose this particular date just because of the multitrack audio and Princess Diana. I believe they should at least have Wembley July 14th tape in much better video quality, along with many Bad Tour concerts that they've talked so little about.

Look, i believe that things over the years gets scattered over the years for various projects. Especially in regards to tapes and film.
I believe at the time, they could only find a VHS copy of THAT particular show with matching multi tracks (that being a crucial element that I'm sure not every single show was taped this way).

But they clearly have tapes of other shows at their disposal to use.

That TWYMMF performance from the previous night was probably from a better copy of the show (you can tell the quality of the video LOOKS different. But also, maybe like they didn't want to show how good it actually is, as it would be too jarring after seeing the main show of the 16th. They probably dumbed it down to look rougher than it actually was).

Someone above said that they used audio from the 14th for TWYMMF's 15th performance. Is that true? That would lead me to think they had the u-matic for the 15th, but no multitracks for that show. BUT, had multi tracks for the 14th, but no copy of the show video.

I believe they wanted to use a stadium show, and having the one Princess Di attended was marketing fluff they could throw in, AND his performance maybe was better overall on the 16th than 15th, so they ultimately chose that. (Wembley has an allure to it)

And yet, Spike Lee/his team was able to recreate the video using most of the footage (with previously unseen stuff) from film reels, so.....what is the truth)
Not a shot-for-shot remake, but got the job done.

It could really be his personal VHS copy. The concerts were recorded on Umatic tape but they made VHS version too if Michael requested to view some concert. That is what they said in 2012 if I remember right.

Didn't Michael sometimes watch his concerts over to, you know, improve upon his craft? That can vindicate the evolution of his dancing and whatnot in later tours and performances. Hence, Michael having a personal copy of the concert should make sense.

Yes, i heard sometimes he even had a tv in the car and was watching the show he just performed on the way to the next show.

I believe they have July 14th (and many other shows) in higher video quality, but they didn't choose to release it because they only have multitrack recording of July 15th and 16th, and they want to use multitrack because they care move about a live CD release rather than video quality.

I wonder if the fully edited wembley show that the estate was alluding to was from the 22th? If so then that means that they have multitrack recordings from that night.

Petition has almost 7000 signatures. I think we should still try to get more people to sign it even thought the Estate might not have the film footage. I hope they continue to search for it.

Maybe we should ask Taj if he was aware of any film reels being in the storage.

However, unfortunately he’s not still in charge so what the Estate have vs what Taj had could be two vastly different things.

I agree that Taj should hold something of interest, at least to us, like precious information or catalogues. Like Rocketeer said, it would not hurt to find out.

If he has his own storage then Taj could have some lost film/tapes. Someone should email or tweet him about this.
