New MJ content (Possibility)

Re: New MJ content?

that would be waste of time and money in my opinion. they just need to put all unrelease songs on an album. like xscape.

great artists at mj caliber take risks and it most definitely pays off,if they want buzz if they want to appeal to gen pop then thats a good strategy to take
either way i believe there is more than enough money to "waste" and it shouldn't be a factor in their release strategy

Re: New MJ content?

The "singles ultimately compiled into an album" strategy would've been innovative in 2009, but it's already been done by Justin Bieber and Kanye West (among others), so it's sort of a useless endeavor at this point (in my opinion).

I'd rather they just do a traditional 2021 album rollout -- at least two singles before the album drops, TV performances with the MJ ONE dancers, interviews with the creative team, music videos, etc.

a kanye a justin is no michael its different from the get go
i think it would be amazing if done right and could for sure get A TON of press and intrest.

i know i personally dont care for the one dancers, i care for possible features and big creatives from the industry coming in to work on the release

Currently, Kanye and Justin are hotter musical properties than Michael, simply due to the fact that they're (a) alive, (b) capable of making contemporary music, and (c) capable of physically interacting with fans. Michael will always be the more important figure in history, but Michael will NOT receive half the attention that they would.

I don't want any features. I want a classic Michael Jackson album that sounds and feels like Michael Jackson.

Spot on! Couldn’t agree more.

I agree with both of you. i mean having a album full of unrelease songs won't hurt but at the sametime it would be target for the fans not the general public.

like i said before they put feature artists to boost sales and get the younger fans involve. while at some point cool because that understandable but at the sametime i feel they shouldn't.

i'll be happy with something like xscape.

Re: New MJ content?

mmmm, The paper says "warner-Tamerlane". That seems suspicious to me. It would be very odd for the Estate to do anything Warner related considering the HBO ordeal.

Just sayin'

Re: New MJ content?

yes they did. the closer one was xscape.

Xscape sounds nothing like a Michael Jackson album. Not even close.

Michael, on the other hand, does. Which is funny because of the circumstances around that album.

Absolutely agree.

Has the estate delivered such an album so far?

Yes, very close with Michael - just erase the 3 fake songs - then Michael feels and sounds like a true MJ album IMO.

I would say Michael was the closest to a true MJ album. - Xscape is great, thanks to disc 2, but the contemporized songs are not all made like a MJ song/feel. - disc 2 with MJ's original demos as he left them is a great tesatamony to his was of creating.

what you expect? xscape was release almost 6 years after his death. in my opinion that was the best they could do. let's be honest michael is gone. there probably never be anyone like him in our lifetime again. i'm sorry but that magic is gone.

..that's completely irrelevant.

'Michael' sounded like a Michael Jackson album. The drums, the strings, all of it. It sounded like Michael Jackson music. Just funny that some of the vocals weren't his.

Xscape does not. It's 2014 R&B, not Michael Jackson.

Compare 'Hold My Hand', to 'Do You Know Where Your Children Are'. One sounds like it came from MJ, the other sounds like a remix.

the Michael album was great but like hess just said if they can just take those 3 songs off we all be happy campers. their trying as we speak.

That's what i mean. you don't have to like the remixes. that was for the newer younger fans to enjoy and how michael probably would sounds by now. he wanted to try different genres before his death. i like both versions of some songs.

That because Michael was made when Michael was alive. i see what you mean but that magic is still gone because he isn't with us anymore.

that's your opinion if you feel xscape isn't michael but i'm not sure what are your looking for.

do you know where your children are have a remix.

'Michael' was mixed & mastered in 2010 after his death and not released until December of that year, Hold My Hand was recorded in 2008 and their wouldn't have been much work done on it as it was one of the most complete songs.. Big respect to Akon.

Re: New MJ content?

i personally liked Xscaped WAY more than i did "michael",it was really well produced as far as the remixes go(apart from a place with no name) and the songs had the potential to be commercially successful and chart well given the right promo but also gave the fans the demos as mj left them which is the best of both worlds.

if they have to release more unreleased music thats for sure the best way to go.
the magic is in the vocals anyways and not in the productions for me, either way mj would have rearranged those demos if he ever wanted to release em to be more contemporary.
and hold my hand is the most generic mj song to have existed in my opinion and def not his signature sound as far as production goes

Re: New MJ content?

^^ Whilst I agree in the most part I have to disagree with your last statement, personally I think 'Hold My Hand' is one of Michael's most beautiful songs period. Aiming at the younger generation is okay up to a point but it should still at least contain some artistic integrity in the final mix. Also, it's kind of frustrating how the demo's that are included are of lower quality in terms of technicality.

Re: New MJ content?

This is only IMO but personally I would pick CGYWOOM or TYLA ft. The Weeknd as the possible lead single, how about you guys?

Re: New MJ content?

also the remix version of Hollywood tonight is so obnoxious to me it really just sounds like an attempt at an mj production with those billie jean drums but mj is DEAD ,no one can recreate his production touch and magic it comes off as disingenuous to me thats why the producers(who are mad talented to begin with) should be left to remix the songs with their visions and not try and sound like mj,what timberland pulled with Chicago and also blue gangsta was really really really good imo and again if those two songs were given a good promo they would have FOR SURE charted and made waves

i read here that mark ronson worked on songs and i hope they would release whatever he worked on

another point to make is that ever since mj died there are no more Michael albums, were getting unreleased albums which are a totally different game the expectations must change if we want new material and the estate wants to make an impact and money

Re: New MJ content?

^^ If you listen to the original demo of Hollywood Tonight and even a couple of mixes the Billie Jean throwback is much more prominent than it is on the album mix imo.

Re: New MJ content?

i love hold my hand, chicago, and blue gangsta. love both of remixes of chicago and blue gangsta.
