So it's The Weeknd ft. Michael Jackson basically, Branca and Prince have things in the works... Maybe next year is when the next Michael Jackson project will be released.
 
It seems more like it all comes from the Weekend's side. They are teasing MJ fans. Has anyone seen anything at Weekend's forums or groups? What does his fandom say about it all?

He said so, yes. Also that the Musical is the only thing in the pipeline. He’s the one who told me about Thriller 40 and Sony conflict

That's actually the second post from him about Xscape. The first from him was in February that year, he didn't mention the name of an album then, but posted some hints about the huge upcoming MJ release.

I really don't think that the estate and prince will let Michael's 50th year pass without something!
I feel there holding back because of competition.
Don't forget Michael is not here now, the other artists are!
 
So, following this for many weeks here a my thoughts and hopes:
A single will be released with The Weekend in 2021. probably Throwing Your Life Away.

Then in early/mid 2022 the MJ Estate is going to release an album with lets say 8 songs. 6 „new“ ones + TYLA solo MJ-Version + TYLA MJ / The Weekend.

i would be totally cool with that 🙏
 
I think it’s stupid to hold something back only cause any of the other artists is releasing something.. MJ is still more successful than all of them.. really… if they drop an album now with zero promo it would still sell very good..

Several artists do this though. Especially if Adele's new album is coming I think they should wait a bit. She's the only current artist I would hold it for tbh.

Adele’s last album sold 3 million copies in its opening week. No one, MJ included, has EVER done that. Literally every living music act moved their projects because they know they’ll get no attention.

December into early 2022 is the best bet, especially if we wanna get MJ another chart topper.

No - just that MJ and Sony teams aren’t in a good place right now and aren’t actively working on anything. The Musical is the next thing coming. Sony want Thriller 40

I think it’s Universal who run The Weeknd’s label - they were close to signing the MJE deal a few years back.

It could absolutely be happening - but from what I have been told, it won’t be on a Michael Jackson project.

He just said that MJE have nothing in the works with Sony so if it is coming it’ll be on a Weeknd project.

If it's something just for fans like "Bad25", then yes. But if they want "new blood", then a good collab with pops Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars or the Weekend will definitely help in promotion.

Then we cannot compare Adele’s and MJs sells. Last time when MJ released an album (2001) download/streaming was not a thing…

Do we know why the Estate and Sony are on bad terms?
 
Well maybe Mje are going to Universal and that's why nobody Sony wise are saying anything??
I remember when Michael was going to switch record company's.

Something else I think you should all keep in mind, I have gone too many mj days of Adrian Grants. When ever he had one (of course last one I went to Michael was still with us!) But! Whenever he had one it would have exclusive news of projects coming!

Given the fact that this has been moved to next April for the main part of this instead of late October maybe the new release as in Album other projects won't be ready till then and this is why this has been postponed/changed!

Maybe a single will come out first as part of The weekends project and then the MJE will follow with other projects early next year.

Something I been thinking about since that delay.
