During the lifetime of MJ a fair amount of tracks found their place only on b-sides to singles, reissued albums or compilations. Which one do you like at most, and why?

  • Can't Get Outta The Rain
  • Someone In The Dark
  • Someone Put Your Hand Out
  • On The Line
  • Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough [Demo]
  • Working Day And Night [Demo]
  • Billie Jean [Demo]
  • Carousel
  • Streetwalker
  • Fly Away
  • Shout
  • One More Chance
  • PYT [Demo]
  • Scared Of The Moon
  • We Are Here To Change The World
  • We Are The World
  • Cheater
  • Monkey Business
  • Dangerous [Early Version]
  • Beautifull Girl
  • The Way You Love Me
  • We've Had Enough
  • For All Time
  • The Girl Is Mine [Original Demo]
  • Got The Hots

Since demos are not really new stuff I will choose We've Had Enough. - I still hope it gets a proper release on a new album like Michael and Xscape.

But - the solo demo of We Are The World are perfect too IMO.

Scared of the moon is beautiful too.

I like We've Had Enough, For All Time, Fly Away & PYT Demo the most.

Someone In The Dark was on the E.T. Storybook album which won a Grammy.

Fall Again was unfinished. Would have loved to hear it completed.

Of all the songs listed, Streetwalker is tha bomb

Fly Away is heaven.

Monkey Business. !

Shame none of these gems are on streaming services. They need to be re-released.

i've been listening to 'can't get outta the rain' recently. i previously believed that michael just simply sang the word 'rain' over 'game' from 'you can't win part 2'. however, after hearing the two songs side by side, it sounds as though he re recorded everything. the vocals are different. more forceful. interesting that he and quincy are credited as songwriters here, but not for 'you can't win part 2'.. not much of a 'song' here. more like an extended groove. i like it enough.. i will always be fascinated by its existence. šŸ¤”one listener likened it to a song you would hear at a casino when somebody's on a winning spree šŸ˜†

If I'm not mistaking, "You Can't Win, part 2" is simple a part from it's A Side (titled "You Can't Win, part 1"), which is the 12 inch version of You Can't Win.

From your list (donā€™t know if it is complete) I absolutely LOVE the following:
  • Someone In The Dark
  • Someone Put Your Hand Out
  • Carousel
  • Streetwalker
  • One More Chance
  • Scared Of The Moon
  • Monkey Business
  • The Way You Love Me
  • We've Had Enough
  • For All Time
  • The Girl Is Mine [Original Demo]
  • Got The Hots
I am tempted to call someone in the dark his finest recording of his entire career ( though other songs are in contention too).

Streetwalker, hands down, is probably my absolute favorite song ever. I remember the first time I heard it, I was just floored by how funky it was but how it still had this Rock edge to it. I just love everything about it, all the different elements just come together beautifully.

Fly Away, I think, is a very close second for me. It just sounds so heavenly šŸ˜Š

yes, this is the version that was featured on 'the ultimate collection'. however, it was also released in two parts on a double sided vinyl in 78/79. 'part 2' is basically the instrumental groove with the extended ad-libs, after the actual song had ended. he originally sang 'can't get outta the game'. fast forward to '82, it was revisited with the word 'game' replaced by 'rain', and released under the new title 'can't get outta the rain'. it was the b-side to 'the girl is mine'. michael and quincy were credited as writers here, whereas they weren't on the original. i don't understand why this was done at all.

No, I just checked again, "Part 2" is "Part 1" between timecode 00:03:01 and 00:06:01 (approximately).
So, nothing is extended there, Part 2 is just a repeated part from the full length version.
I can play both together and only get a tiny echo.
Edit: Maybe I first misunderstood your post and we're actually saying the same thing.

Also, true in You Can't Win he says "game" most of the time, though just noticed, at approximately 4:53 (in full length song), it sound to me like he may be saying "rain" already, not sure about this one though.

this is 'you can't win part 2' the b side of the 7 inch vinyl single. part 1 is on the other side
here's 'can't get outta the rain' the b side to 'the girl is mine' in 1982

Ah, now it make some more sense.
On 7''
Side A: Part 1 is 3:43
Side B: Part 2 is 2:46

On 12'' (I have this one but without the cover: https://www.discogs.com/release/882047-Michael-Jackson-You-Cant-Win-Part-12 )
Side A: Part 1 is 7:14 and includes part 2 (and is the same things, remastering excluded; and I don't remember if they changed playback speed; as what was included on The Ultimate Collection).
Side B: Part 2 is 2:58

(Also, I think the sound of the 1979 12'' is greatly superior to the 2004 remaster.)

As well as We've Had Enough, am going to add Fly Away. Just listened. Stunning, absolutely stunning.
