Did Michael get the gold leotard for the Dangerous Tour from Madonnas Blonde Ambition tour?

his best outfits are the 1988/89 ones.
But i really wish we would have used the Pepsi (the chase & on stage) outfits on some shows.
Love those!

Not really. In fact, chances are, Madonna copied Michael, rather than the other way around. The BAD Tour shirts (silver, red, black, etc.) were actually a leotard design as well, except that Michael wore them on the inside of his trousers, rather than the outside.
Go, Mikky Dee!

OK, so this is the thread where I found the little video of Michael Bush talking about Michael's clothes. It's on the first page and further down there's another little video clip of a news report re Michael's prep for the Superbowl. Nice footage of Michael, it's edited really fast but still worth checking out.

As for the question posed by the thread, even if I hadn't seen the MB video or read the interview, my answer would be, no, the gold leotard is not inspired by Madonna's Gaultier corset. The two garments are vastly different, imo. Both in terms of aesthetics and, more importantly, in terms of their functionality as a dance costume. I'm biased cos Madonna doesn't interest me but the corset is inferior, imo, to the gold leotard. I've seen the BA tour on film, it's OK. But the corset? I just don't think it's as effective, as a dance costume, as the gold leotard.

I am a bit jealous, the girls on here not only get to appreciate Michaels artistic genius, they also get potentially aroused as a bonus  Pretty cool! ;)

Oh, and I hate the leotard, haha.

lmao this is something I think about all the time. I feel so happy I get to thoroughly enjoy every aspect of Michael, but I feel bad for the people on here that don't! :ROFLMAO:

I love how consistently unimpressed you are with Madonna. It always makes me laugh.

I think M looks good in his, id say that was a gold fencing suit , It looked especially good with the Jam military jacket. I don't think he got the idea from the Blonde Ambition tour cause hers is a John Paul corset leotard with cones. I always thought M wore a gold fencing suit and he had another similar in black also . Although The designers were big on these designs and fabrics at the time I believe M made this style his own. I also love the Bad Silver & Black Bondage pants outfit too . The black long jacket he wore in This Is It the one with the cross on the back, where he is with Orianthi is another fave jacket although i realise we aren't talking about jackets

Tbf, Madonna does do some stuff that impresses me. She is really good at being a pop star. I find her voice, dancing, lyrics, songs, costumes, image and pretty much everything about her as an artist to be dull. But a pop star as a 'thing', iyswim, she does that really well.

She seems to be a really good business woman. She knows her own mind and I don't think too many people would risk messing with her. She seems to have managed aspects of her career better than Michael. She has handled the interview thing incredibly well. She wasn't up against it like Michael was but she did get a fair amount of flak and outrage. But she's made some really strategic decisions about which interviews to do and when to do them.

I admire the fact that she's kept going, that she's kept her career on a high for so long. I find her work to be tedious beyond belief but that doesn't matter. Her fanbase is huge, she doesn't need me, lol. She does her thing, she doesn't give two ***** about anyone else's opinion.

She did a great tribute to Michael after he died and she was on tour. One of her dancers (who was a massive Michael fan) stepped up and did a whole routine. I think she might have dropped one of her own songs to make space for the tribute. I can't remember, it's been so long. But the tribute was a really good one. Not just a token thing, it was full on. I love her for that.

She did her big speech about Michael:

"I abandoned him. We all abandoned him."

Yes, Madonna, you did. And so did all the others. But at least she had the ***** to stand up and say it. No-one else, imo, was as heartfelt and emotional and truthful in what was said as Madonna when she did that speech. I will always love her for that.

Afaik, she has refused to cave in to the nonsense around the tv programme. She certainly did when it was first out. She made a very strong statement. Whether that changed later on I don't know. But she certainly didn't jump on the bandwagon of hate as so many others did.

So there is a lot to love about Madonna. Just not the art. Not for me.

OMG! can't believe this thread existed and I did not know about it. I absolutely love the gold Dangerous outfit. Don't have much to add other than what's already said here. He looks so sexy in it, all his moves are enhanced by the outfit, it really flatters his dancer's figure, abs, arms everything!

The weird thing for me is, there is no appreciation thread for the gold leotard. I know a lot of people really hate it but ... still weird. That said, it would be a bit pointless. So many gold leotard photos belong in Manhood. Pretty much all of them. So I guess it's fine. I do disagree with some of the comments here, that the leotard looked better when it was tucked into his trousers. It's perfect the way he normally wears it.

yes, that outfit is another things that has the fan community totally divided, but in a good way :) . I love the fact that we all care so much about a piece of clothing that Michael wore and have developed such strong feelings (negative or positive) about it. Maybe that's what he was going for :ROFLMAO: . I guess this is the gold leotard appreciation thread now ;) . Though I have hard time keeping it together whenever these pictured are shared elsewhere, don't know how I am going to handle a whole thread!

I never thought of it like that.

Well, it's worked a treat, lol. Here we are, 30 years later and the gold leotard is still a hot topic of discussion. Or just, you know, hot. 🥵

Oh, I completely understand you here. I actually feel much the same way. For a hot minute last fall (as in, one lonely evening lol) I spent all of it watching Madonna content. I really enjoyed watching her interview. I also really enjoyed a performance here or there. Mostly it was her self assuredness that I was into. I've never felt much about her voice, or her music though. I think you put it perfectly when you said she's great at being a pop star and she's a good business woman. But I definitely don't see her as some artistic genius or anything. I'm open to being disproven about that, but it's just not my impression right now.

I have watched very little of the memorial coverage for Michael (I'm not sure if I will ever watch more than I already have because it messes me up). But I absolutely did watch her speech and I thought it was great. I cried a lot about it. I also do think she defended him in 2019, and I know she has always respected him a lot, especially as she got older. I didn't know she honored him on tour, but I'm not surprised. I love and appreciate all of this about her.

I think I just laughed because it's funny spending time on this board and getting to know people, what they like, dislike, etc. I didn't mean to call you out for your comment!

I love this photo. She looks so happy! And I can't tell at all what he is thinking (which is often the case, of course). Still, so cute. Also his tie is 🔥
She is so happy because she is with Michael! He is probably thinking I can do better ;)

OMG, that coat from TII!!! Awesome! I love it. It's quite goth in its design, I think. And the way it moves when Michael moves ... really hot. I know he had great style and pretty much always looked good in his clothes, onstage and off, but, omg, that coat. It's sexy and stylish and cool and hot and ... I ran out of words, lol.

That coat is 🥵

Love it ! Though that sparkly jacket looked better without the belt going across the shoulder.

Here you go. Not the best photo of it but the best one I can find. I love this coat. The way it moved when he moved. It has a real goth vibe to it. Such a cool coat for a cool rock star.
