Michael's background dancer saying they performed RTT on the dangerous tour once, where is it?

Don't wanna derail the thread but just wanted to say, Bill Bottrell is the one I'd want to listen to. More than anyone else Michael worked with, more than Brad Buxer, even.
Bill was awesome!

He had some really interesting stories particularly on the creation of Streetwalker, Come Together, Black or White and Earth Song.

I got to meet him after and have got his contact details so hoping to sit down and interview him in depth on this and more so watch this space!

Is it true that Lavelle Smith said in Kingvention that MJ wasn't injured but he wasn't satisfied by the choreography in Soul Train 1993 ?

I usually never speak on you but this.... bruh where tf do you get this delusional a$$ unfactual unreliable sources from? Too risky? To dance??? Idk what to say about you sometimes. I usually never don't because it's entertaining but this 1 disturbed tf out of me because as a tribute artist & as many times as I did it.... this is just mind blowing to even read
Of course he feared that it was too risky for him to perform the 'Remember The Time' dance moves during the Dangerous Tour.

That is why he decided to never perform it during that tour.

Keep in mind that when he rehearsed those dance moves for the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards, he severely twisted his ankle.

So, he had to perform the song while sitting on a chair during that Awards Show.

Michael Jackson was injured during the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards.

He was even seen walking on crutches on certain public occasions in the following days (after that Awards Show).

If u really believe that then ok...I watched his feet that entire performance. He would not have gotten up & been moving both of them if the ankle was twisted...trust me!

I read that Lavelle said he wasn't at Kingvention, but he wasn't satisfied with the choreography

..... and you know that he feared it was too risky because .....?? This sounds like utter nonsense.

But Michael Jackson was seen walking on crutches on certain public occasions in the following days (after that Awards Show).

For example, two days after that Awards Show, he attended on crutches an American Film Institute tribute event (on March 11th, 1993).

Also, his costume designer Michael Bush confirmed that the singer was injured during that Awards Show.

Michael Bush stated that after the 'Remember The Time' performance (at the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards), Michael Jackson could not wait to take off the gold lame leather strappings from his pants, which the costume designer removed promptly in the car.

There are even photos from inside the car that prove it.

What about the story about him throwing the crutches to the side saying "poof" or something in a magical sense that it was just a joke...(which I believe way more) just me because I know this guy when it comes to performing & not to ever do that song again....nah! Not believing it or none of what you say. Sorry frenzy!

I honestly dont believe MJ would fake an injury and choose to perform in a chair. He was too much of a perfectionist to do that. If he really didnt like the choreography then he could of easily performed a different song.
I'll upload the source as soon as I find it

Bob Jones and Stacy Brown claimed that particular thing in their 'Michael Jackson: The Man Behind The Mask' book.

But that particular claim is not true.

The claim that Michael Jackson did not like the 'Remember The Time' on stage choreography does not make sense.

It was the same choreography as the one in his music video, which he had liked and thus he had approved of for that music video.

Remember that Bad also had -IMO- a extraordinary choreography but it wasn't performed live

Being in music video doesn't mean he saw it live on stage. He didn't even perform it on one of his tours

Actually, the 'BAD' performance has a very simple and easy choreography.

Michael Jackson basically just walks on stage while performing it.

He did not perform it in the HIStory Tour apparently because he had difficulty in lip-syncing it (due to the song's high tempo vocals).

Source?

A source also told me that MJ was planning to go to Egypt in 1998 to perform "Remember The Time", "The singer" would have had all the background dancers dance in chair's made out of crutches while "The singer" himself would come out of an oxygen tank when the performance started.

Pretty sure he was referring to the video and how that amazing choreography was never performed on stage.

At this point, I realise that you must be trolling. There's no way on earth you ever read that somewhere because it is absolutely ludicrous.
How did he lip-synch it on the Bad and Dangerous Tour then? Was his mouth not able to move as fast three years after the Dangerous Tour? What on earth???
The vocals are not even sung that fast. The staccato in Smooth Criminal is much faster.

You always talk like you were inside Michael's mind. I wish I had that much self confidence lol.

I've heard at Kingvention (London fan event), this year and about 3 years ago from two separate people - Eddie Garcia and it was either Kevin Dorsey or Lavelle Smith Jr both confirmed it WAS performed on a live show of the Tour

I just can not believe this. We have some amateur footage, back then there was fan magasines, 40.000+ fans who attended the concert.

We would know by now if it was performed and NOTHING and NOBODY that went to the concerts have made any claims of RTT to have been performed.

I really do hope I'm wrong and I really hope RTT was performed, and maybe there is footage in MJ's archive - BUT I highly doubt it.

I think they are painfully mistaken on where they performed it but I can guarantee there is no rtt performance on the dangerous tour. Just like the post above states. I just don't can't think of why out of everything we got...no evidence & only 2 ppl in the entire world can state that it did (when we all know) when it didn't happen. Maybe our minds just want it so that we believe it. It'd be different if we had like a tiny chat with video but we are reading so our minds think deeper. That's why ITS NOT GOOD "FRENZY" TO SPREAD FALSE INFORMATION!

There is no strong evidence that "BAD" was going to be on the "HIStory Tour" although according to Sugarfoot "2 BAD" and other songs were

For what it's worth, you can see here that Remeber the time was rehearsed on stage, in Bucharest, on the 30 september 1992 :
(at around 1:40 into the video). Taken from the documentary “Michael Jackson in Romania”. RTT segment also isolated on this video :
. We all know it was not played at the subsequent concert, but at least it could explain why dancers remember the time when they rehearsed this number in a realistic live setting. With no audience anyway (unless there was a later dress rehearsal, not filmed, where select audience or at least a bunch of people could have been present, that would explain why they remember having performed it (with costumes ?).

They must have really taken it out at the last moment. The curious cat in me wants to know the real reason why.

To refresh us .

Taken from it's Wikipedia - Michael's Song Remember The Time was released in January 14, 1992 ... recorded Feb 1991 but no particular date.
What year does Michael's dancer recall this ?Sometime during 1992/ late 1992 maybe ? because in 1993 .....M was dancing and he twisted his ankle! , thus the RTT performance in a chair. I never saw any performance of remember the time other than Soul Train awards in that gold chair. i remember that vividly cos as a child, it was a shock seeing him entering in on crutches like that. you'd be worried as a fan. personally , i wasn't too keen on his outfit there with Murphy because i was worried it was a back brace, meaning he might have hurt his back. ( personal thoughts of a fan. this was never said)

I also recall rumours though that , Cant let her get away and In The Closet was performed on Dangerous tour. i do not ever recall seeing any of those performed on the tv or radio .. you'd always wonder.
It is a mystery.

Edit - the video @laconcombremasque has posted. i'll go with that for now.
