I would say you failed at managing your expectations.

Compounded by unrealistic speculations & personal opinions presented as facts.

+ a whole dose of negativity

= this thread in a nutshell
As someone who constantly complains about an over abundance of negativity towards the estate and their projects, this thread really hasn’t been bad in the slightest lol. If anything, this is the most optimism I’ve seen since 2014.

This has the potential to be a fantastic project. I think it's very unlikely we will get modern remixes because looking at the sequence, the remixes would seem out of place when you have unreleased original songs closing the album. If we add Carousel, Hot Street, Nightline, and Got The Hots to what we have right now, it will look something like this:

1. Hot Street
2. Nightline
3. Carousel
4. Got The Hots
5. Behind The Mask
6. Unknown
7. The Toy
8. Unknown
9. Unknown
10. She's Trouble

The last 3 songs are a guessing game, but if you look at the digital edition it leaves some clues. For All Time and The Girl Is Mine (Demo) are not included. I doubt For All Time will be on here because it simply doesn't make any sense when it isn't even a Thriller outtake to begin with. The best-case scenario is that we could see 2 more brand new songs on this disc if The Girl Is Mine is not included, but I believe the 3 songs likely to fill up this disc are:

Starlight - I think this is a given.
The Girl Is Mine (Demo) - due to the fact this isn't on the digital edition.
A brand-new song from the Thriller sessions that we haven't heard yet.

Slapstick is the wild card here. This song could be included, but if I were The Estate or Sony's A&R I'd push Hot Street as the single to Thriller 40 and I'd put out a digital release of the song with Slapstick as the b-side...so you'd get the demo to Hot Street as a bonus song that isn't on the project...and so that we'd get more music.

I really do hope they put slapstick instead of Hot street. I hope we get a song we never have heard of, BUT if they put one of the 2 songs on it , i want Slapstick, we don't have that one in good quality.

I really hope that they include the longer version of lady of my life. Or is it on digital album?

Could someone give me link to where I can see all the versions coming out? Plus is the digital album apart from disc 2 got all titles out now?

Impossible we get 4 unleaked song

tracks 1 - 9 --> CD #1
tracks 10 - 19 --> CD #2
tracks 20 - 34 --> digital only

He should've gave "she's trouble" to latoya. It sounds like something she would sing & dance to!

I think there will be one more demo that we have not heard on the track list. I guessed that the 1st unheard track would be announced week of announcements 3 and the 2nd week 8. Let's see!

Honestly 2 unheard song enough for me (with the toy)

Honestly I would like them to include Slapstick just because the files we have of it are not really that great quality. I know they will likely go with Hot Street though, even though it is pretty good I don't think they'd use it on a studio album, so putting it here makes most sense.

I prefer hot street anyway...slapstick is so weird. Slapstick & beautiful girl can stay in the vaults!! Never thought I'd hate any of his songs even if they are demos

What's wrong with beautiful girl 🤔

i think it’s only right we get hot street seeing as michael himself said how much he loved the song. i agree that it would be awesome if it were released as a single and maybe with a b-side being slapstick

I can't see them releasing two demos of the same calibor on 1 new album

“Beautiful Girl” is in his top ten best songs. I won’t be taking any questions.
I don't know about it being in his top ten best songs but it is quite magical and very soothing. I like to look at it as the first part of the trilogy ('Beautiful Girl', 'The Loser' and 'Days In Gloucestershire').

I'd love to see Hot Street as a single, but a b-side? Are they still a thing in the age of streaming?

The questions no one seems to be asking themselves are: will the vinyl contain the bonus material also? And will they change the artwork for the vinyl, as they have done for the CD?

According to the first announcement: no, the vinyl will contain the album itself only, nothing else. So, I'm assuming it'll be the new remaster and that's it.

How disappointing! Why release the same album with the same 9 tracks again, but with a different cover? Doesn’t make any sense. Besides, many people prefer vinyl over CD.

My guess is that this reissue (Thriller 40) will be a new remaster and they want to put it out in replacement of the 2014 one.

That’s an interesting theory. I do, however, doubt they will take the 2014 reissue off the shelves, and instead use this edition, with the awful-looking artwork and the number, as a replacement.

Yes, that's what I meant. They will stop pressing vinyl with the 2014 master.

This album is nothing but a money grab. They missed out with Dangerous and History anniversaries . There were a LOT of songs made for those.

Apparently the Estate believes that a potential anniversary release of the 'HIStory' album may not be a good idea because it would attract people's attention to the accusations against Michael Jackson.
A lot of History outakes? I thought there are barely any.
It has been estimated that there are about 40 outtakes from the 'HIStory' album, but most of them are not fully finished (they are still in the final stages of production).

They have stated that an anniversary for HIStory was indeed planned, but cancelled, due to the COVID pandemic. And no, they did not make such a statement only to give a pathetic excuse to the fans. There is truth in what they have said and we have proof of it: the Munich 97’ 4K remaster. So, there’s another one of your theories debunked.

Highly doubtful. 40 outtakes is way too much for the HIStory era, especially when taking into consideration how many songs which did make the track list, were written many years before.

Iirc, one of the engineers who worked on the album sessions said there's about 3 or 4 finished songs and anything between 10 and 20 unfinished tracks in various stages of completion. According to him, HIStory was rushed to the point where MJ didn't go for his famous work ethic of trying various ideas. He just got what he felt had the more potential at first and developed them, leaving all the rest aside.

I guess it would explain why a recording from 1988 ended up on the album.
