'Can't Get Your Weight Off Of Me' did not even make the 'The Ultimate Collection' box set, although the track is said to have been mastered for inclusion on that box set.

It's formulaic as a Darkchild song with the structure and melodies which is why I believe it fails to be noteworthy. It is similar to Invincible and Privacy in several ways. The adlibs at one point really remind me of 2000 watts as well. The beat is pretty different from the rest, more gritty and edgy. I think that the mix and master could be better (not a fan of the earrape drills and static sfx) although this could be fixed, it may have been with the 2004 remaster. The vocal is really pretty bad though which I think is the main issue. They left Lashawn Daniel's vocals on some parts and it feels very strange to me musically. Michael almost sounds off key. I can see why it wasn't released. Overall you're pretty accurate about it being generic and overhyped.

It'd sound soooo weird lol. As disappointing as it sounds I hope they never release the song if they're really trying to protect mj's image. The song isn't a very good look for him considering that the vocal performance sounds like a mumble demo and the melodies make it seem like a ripoff of previous songs.

Lol yeah. I've spoken with multiple people who have/have heard the song. Not a single person has said it was good interestingly.

Generally just that it's bad lol. Everyone noted that the vocals are mumble like (they definitely are) and that it's just not good. I personally completely agree although I like the beat.

The song cannot possibly be any worse for me than Privacy. I even like the Casio songs.

Given that there's a part of the song that literally uses almost an almost identical melody and lyric from Privacy, I wouldn't get your hopes up lmao

Of course I know Michael would often work a long time on songs, but still. Interesting how little the music apparently changed during all that time. Agreed. It should also be noted that there is also an earlier version of Little Susie (from some point in the early 90s I assume? there's not much info about it) that was recorded with a full orchestra that we've never heard. The version on the HIStory album was all redone with synthesisers and samplers by Porcaro and a couple other guys as a sketch because iirc MJ wanted to change the key or something like that. Either way, it ended up being the final instrumental used. I'd love to hear the live orchestra recorded for that song, it's a killer arrangement.

Hot Street, despite leaking, is definitely still a gem. A quality song that the public is less aware is exactly what a gem qualifies to be, and even if it's not put out on T40, there's still plenty left to do with it.

I find it interesting that everyone seems to think Hot Street is a gem. I always thought it was mid and generic.

The only hype I have is for the Will I Am tracks and that's within reason too. I have hope only to get to the point where I can listen to it.
