Are there still some so called “ hidden gems” left in the vault?

Agreed. It should also be noted that there is also an earlier version of Little Susie (from some point in the early 90s I assume? there's not much info about it) that was recorded with a full orchestra that we've never heard. The version on the HIStory album was all redone with synthesisers and samplers by Porcaro and a couple other guys as a sketch because iirc MJ wanted to change the key or something like that. Either way, it ended up being the final instrumental used. I'd love to hear the live orchestra recorded for that song, it's a killer arrangement.
😲

Generally just that it's bad lol. Everyone noted that the vocals are mumble like (they definitely are) and that it's just not good. I personally completely agree although I like the beat.
How mumble and there is snippet in YouTube he sing it look like invincible

This guy hasn’t heard “Got the Hots.” Bless your soul.
I don't know why everybody's decided to turn on this song lately, it's really not that bad. I've always liked the harmonies of the chorus the best. It just feels nostalgic to me. Disagree, but I like it. Is that a crime, Always there, regular MJJC member since at least 2013, and regular forum user of HIStory Continues? Lol

Most of those don’t have many vocals aside from 2 or 3 unfortunately. I’m also interested in hearing them though.
Tbh, that's ok. Let Will rap on them if he must. Or at least, Q-Tip. I am totally cool with a sampling MJ era. It's the most creative way to pay it forward. As long as it's not Drake.

This was just a cheeky joke haha. I personally hate it, but if you like it, that’s totally okay! There’s no right or wrong when it comes to music quality!

Well thank you! No harm done. I'm really not picky with MJs music. Nothing wrong with it not being a favorite.

And, also, didn't mean to come off like I was gonna dox you lol. I have been a member on this site before, and I lurk on all the MJ sites really. Your information sharing has been some of my favorite over the year.

@Clay7

Hot street is not a gem otherwise it would have been on thriller. But it is catchy, it is something that nestles in your brain and before you know,it you’re humming it 😃
But imo this holds up for most thriller outtakes. I like them all. If the originally intended thriller album would have been released it would not have sold 50+ million albums though

Got the hots is such a fun track as well, I can see myself driving a car without a roof in sunny California while blasting it lol

Shocking twist though I have no car and sunny California is lightyears away from me.

Yeah I agree for the most part. It’s definitely NOT bad. I just don’t consider it particularly great.

Something I would like to make note of is the Rod Michael tracks. I actually met him once and we talked about alot of music related things but one thing that came up was Michael. He confirmed to me that Michael DID in fact record them. He also gave some interesting details about Michael's planned album. I'm very interested to hear those.

Was it ever confirmed that Rod Michael was being honest? It’s very easy to say, “We met and he recorded my songs” without any evidence.

Would you care to elaborate on this?
Apparently they were trying to "recapture the success and vibe of dangerous" with it, whatever that means. Teddy brought in alot of new songs to mj from established artists like Rod. The whole process behind the production of the songs was interesting.

I don't see why he would lie about it in a private conversation but yes I suppose it would be possible for anyone mj worked with to lie. There is a confirmed song that Michael had been working on titled "Don't Walk Away" around the time period that Rod's was submitted to him, could be the same one.

And there is a song where there is MJ's voice? Damien Shields said "Don't Walk Away" was an instrumental.

There are Michael versions of all 3 Rod songs. I guess there must be multiple songs with the same title. Or maybe the one Damien heard was a new instrumental for Michaels, Not really sure.

I have already inquired about him. From what I understand, he was able to send his demos thanks to a nephew of MJ. The titles are "Don't Walk Away", "U Are" and "What's Your Name". Rod Michael said MJ worked on those tracks, but did he actually sing them?

I don't know if the songs that are on YT are real, at least I don't think What's Your Name is real because Janet Jackson has a song identical to it called What's Ur Name. Unless the song was a writer's demo for Janet.

Edit: Nevermind all of this, I was thinking about this song instead LOL

When we spoke he said specifically that Michael did record them. He first heard Rods songs from Teddy who was working with him (Rod) sometime in 2006/2007. I remember him saying that he thinks they have a completed vocal on them, but I personally doubt that.

I doubt too.
If you can contact him to confirm that would be great. Thanks for your feedback.

I asked him specifically if mj fully recorded them which is when he said that.

I don’t buy Rod’s story at all. Not doubting you personally, @Clay7, it’s just very easy for people to say that they worked with MJ with absolutely no evidence. Eddie Cascio did it for 12 years.

Even if he is telling the truth, the songs he uploaded are just okay. I can’t imagine MJ would record Rod’s songs but not his own.

Am I the only one who has never ever heard of Rod Michael.
Me neither. I feel lost!
He's pretty inactive now with his career but he is a singer and songwriter who eventually wrote a few songs for Michaels upcoming album that he was working on in his final years. The 3 songs he submitted to Michael are known as - "Don't Walk Away", "What's Ur Name", and "U Are". All of which are pretty solid. Super nice guy.

Yeah i don't blame you. Im usually skeptical as well. Also the Cascios did work with mj lol.

Wouldn't be all that interested in hearing MJ sing those songs tbh, they are really meh.
