Thriller 40th Anniversary

There is a fair amount of contemporaneous footage that most people haven’t seen / forgot about (eg the natural history museum press conference)
 
tbh I think it's better when Sony buys MJs catalogue. Sony wants to release the demos and make money with them (as you can see with other artists boxsets) while The Estate keeps them to themselves and when they finally release them, it's in horrible quality and they don't want to do any promotion as you can see with Thriller 40.

yeah the Estate is so lazy that the only positive thing that can happen with MJ's back catalogue is having Sony (whose Legacy imprint - while mediocre with their releases - is at least better than the Estate when it comes to curating stuff) take over full-time while the Estate focuses on other matters like the biopic and the musical.

I don't know, to be honest. I made that statement pre-emptively because I didn't want to look like I was bootlicking Sony, but honestly they've been quite cool with their releases. I think the reason I made that knee-jerk reaction was because they didn't seem to release what I was expecting (box sets featuring outtakes and demos), but they do a good enough job remastering stuff on their own.

I don't think they're warner bros Prince tier of demoes on top of demoes, but again, no one is. It's just, nice comprehensive box sets
 
In hindsight Thriller40 was pretty forgettable. I remember thriller 25 being such a big deal and a big seller.
The world didn't care for thriller 40 and it was presented in such a lackluster uninspiring way.
A nice boxset with outtakes would have been much better, for us fans, let the general public rot.
 
Michael's fans are trying to get Thriller short film to 1 billion by the end of Oct 2023.

The #1billion4Thriller covers Beat It as well. Beat It is pretty close, I'd be surprised if they couldn't get that one to the finish line by the end of October.

Oh, I guess that's what the tribute thing was about. Earlier I posted a video clip of Offset in front of a big crowd at something called Rolling Loud. It was labelled as a tribute to Michael but it wasn't really. It was a remembrance for someone in Offset's life who had died / been killed and he played Never Can Say Goodbye for that reason.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I came across a video of Cardi B talking about this very thing. I had to close that down real quick. It went WAY beyond tmi. And I only caught the first 20 seconds, lol.

Posting this from @andjustice4some with the proviso that the new thing Offset has just dropped contains loads of references to the videos for Thriller and SC but the song is also loaded with language that, for some people, will be too violent and aggressive. Just sayin'.

#1 - He supports an MJ event (#1Billion4Thriller) on the same day his own single drops.
#2 - Very few artists have come out publicly in support of Michael. They're worried about the own careers. Offset shows his support and doesn't worry about it.

I just (almost) watched the video, and was appalled 😱 so foul. so cheap. standards have dropped so low in the entertainment world. michael’s name is being sullied by association with this😔

Yeah. I posted it for the @andjustice4some tweet. Seemed like a good idea! I wasn't even gonna check out the song, no interest in Offset, don't really know much about him. Then I had a quick look. It's ... um, not at all what I was expecting, that's for sure.
