This is the place, here I decide to talk about the Cyndi Lapuer Paris concert of 1987, i’m so edgy , doing as I please
I watched the entire thing.
What’s with her accent, is that an act?
Yes, it is. She's from Brooklyn so she's just taking the p*ss out of herself, entertaining her audience, exaggerating her accent. Did you watch the bit at the beginning, before the video starts? Where she's pretending to be an unsophisticated, uninformed American tourist in Paris? Same thing, just a gentle, enjoyable p*ss take. If you listen to her speaking voice at the end of the show, where she's thanking the audience for being so lovely, that's her normal voice.
On to the music. I liked the first 5 or 6 songs then there were a bunch of songs that were boring
Her set list is a bit uneven, imo, and Good Enough is a crap song to have so early on in the set. All Through The Night is one of her best songs but it's far too early, imo, to be doing such a slow song. So the show doesn't get off to the best start but it picks up energy as she goes along.
until true colors came along which is a world class song.
ooh, gotta disagree with you there. Calm Inside The Storm, 911, One Track Mind. That is a cool run of songs for me.
I checked her first 2 albums and she did no less than 8 out of 10 songs from her then last album. That is cool. This is what I call promoting an album! I like the sober stage, musicians in plain sight, I like the simplicity.
Yeah, all the attention is on the songs. That's what I like. And, yes, I wanna see the band.
I also like her tight fitting dress or whatever that is called. As a healthy man I have an eye for tight dresses.
The first song reminded me of a Paula Abdul song, the way it sounds.
Er, excuse me! Cyndi is far superior and Change of Heart, one of her best songs, sounds nothing like Paula Abdul.
Moving swiftly on, lol.
The second one starts out like a Talking Heads song. It was called good enough which I couldn’t find on her 2 albums she had released by then. B side?
From the soundtrack of The Goonies film. She did release it as a single, it was never an album track although it did turn up on one of her compilation albums.
I was surprised to see a what’s going on cover, not bad.
Yep, she does that and then covers Jackie Wilson's Baby Workout as one of her encores. The girl has got good taste!
I had a feeling this would get followed up with Iko Iko which is what happened.
It was fun, good concert, good energy, good crowd interaction and a whole bunch of songs easy enough to bop your head to.
Yeah, once the energy picks up, the whole thing is fab.
Ending the show with an a cappella version of true colors was awesome!
It's beautiful. Perfect ending. And then that frozen image of her reaching her hand out to someone in the audience. Lovely!
