No actually, no. I delved into Prince a few times over at some given moments in the past 2 years but at the earliest I would say I only became much of a fan a year ago. I still haven't heard everything (because... you know, around 40 albums and so), but I would say I have listened to a good portion of his stuff, at least.because seems you are an OG Prince supporter so you can hopefully teach me lol since @Fuzballhas bloody slackened on his otherwise recommendations.
You know, as a Batman fan (and in no way trying to deminish your reaction) I find this pretty funny due to how good it represents the character, I absolutely loved how he acted in the Batdance and Partyman music videos due to this, his Joker interpretation, it felt true to the character and he looked like he was having fun going at it too which in turn made the whole thing very fun to watch to me. I get it though, it is exactly how the whole thing is meant to be seen at its core so it all makes the most sense and I can totally see how off putting it could be to you.it was scary cos i never really got Gotham city or BM or the joker dammit. The sound was freakish, try listening to that in bed late at night ... and the video did not help matters at all, It was that which that created a problem seed for me in all this,
The video.... that ... that Joker... thing i wanted to smash the telly when he kept popping up on that . I really hated that imagery ~that kept talking , laughing with all his mates - to me , Was laughing so evil and twisted ~ to me , The character he was playing The Joker thing was possessing the pretty boy who was trapped on the keyboards
Maybe I should give it a try when I can, I don't know. I loved the album at least, and at the very least I expect the full film to be fun.And the thing is with that , He had so many sides, And acting i think is the one huge one for me.
I see, it makes sense. I would expect at the time to be two spectrums in a way for younger audiences which could overlap at times. I'm very happy for you to try and revisit it in all fairnest for the times you blocked him out, that's very cool of you.So, that was my truth . I was a Michael Jackson fan hardcore and solid. I did not know of any Prince. Who was he?
From the Love Symbol album, pretty short and segued from the song beforehand (Damn U, really sweet one), I like the energy on that one, in fact, the whole Damn U/Arrogance/The Flow/7 sequence flows really well and is great to listen from time to time, check that out too if you can, the two songs in-between Damn U and 7 are kinda short and make it all stand out pretty well.there is a song on The ...i am not sure which album but it was written for me. arrogance. Yep . i am yet to check that out
As I said, I am pretty happy that you can do it now even if it's late and the man is gone, with that you can appreciate his artistry at least in your own way at this time and have an outlook on things, how you felt before shouldn't matter in terms of that right now, because you were able to outgrow it in given time; again, even if late.At 14 i thought he was 'dirty' [even though i was listening to rap at the time !!!!!] Shamed to say this - i really vilified him and the air he breathed. That is, untill now. Untill 2023. yh too late. that's what stubborness does 2 ya.![]()
Parade is the album for Under The Cherry Moon, what you're thinking of is Around The World In A Day (really good, came out after Purple Rain and is of around the same quality to me).Parade i am assuming is raspberry right? No maybe not.
That really is a lot, you may end up more caught up than me lol. It seems you're getting quite the treasures, happy for you.I have got so far... 2 CDs . Come , and GB. the 2004 DVD boxset , and the book by his first wife and his um book by his personal photographer. Which was a good look into well , his clothes really. He was quite the model I would like to get his autobiography but what puts me off that is he never got to finish it ...and it is difficult reading Maytes account.
.. I will catch up ha! that i will.
I have searched this before and all I have gotten is... I don't know. There doesn't really seem to be one, the closest I have is how he had relation to calling his fans "fams" but that would be it, really.Question ? Assuming his supporters have a name too , What are we called then? His Knights ? cos he is so dark n Princey and .regal & ... symbol ...maybe not.
I really love The Funk Bible/Black Album. As a whole I would consider it just ok but it is by far one of my most played and prefered albums of his, the whole thing is just really fun and easy to listen to, while also each song being unique. 2 N*** United 4 West Compton is my favorite song of the album and one of my favorites of his, Bob George and Superfunkycalifragisexy too. And yeah, Camille (the high pitched voice) appears in the last song, though I never was as interested in that one as the rest of the album. You what i am excited about? The Black Album? because yet another character... Camille . oh my gosh that ...the whole concept of Camille. I plan to follow closely ! happy 2 say!
Ah yes this is what i was trying to nab!
ahh So, That' could b partly the influence from Little Richard right? well for doo rags , wraps, bandannas
I don't know where that photo is from?I know you don't like this one, wend, but I adore it. There's not too many Prince photos that I like but I love this one.
Love the sunglasses. Can't get enough of them. I never see it as Michael 'hiding' his eyes - although I understand that part of it, jeez, all those camera flashes.I don't know where that photo is from?.... it's not bad actually. I am not too keen on the sunnies to be fair. I never rated it when m chose to wear sunglasses as opposed to eyeglasses either.
Mm, not sure about that. Every interview I've watched with Prince he always has good things to say about Warners and makes it clear that he has lots of respect for them. He has always said Warners gave him lots of creative control and freedom. The issue with his masters, well, that applied right across the record industry. It wasn't Warners being crap, it was just the whole entire industry bleeding the artists dry which they had been doing from day dot.Oh absolutely. I cannot begin to think about it ...poor sod was contracted under WBro..that was prob worse than sony
40 albums --- i just cannot get over the amount of art he hasNo actually, no. I delved into Prince a few times over at some given moments in the past 2 years but at the earliest I would say I only became much of a fan a year ago. I still haven't heard everything (because... you know, around 40 albums and so), but I would say I have listened to a good portion of his stuff, at least.
I will giveIf you want recommendations of my own: it depends since his range was very varied and he was always finishing and releasing stuff, that be on his main brand or with his band members, but I would suggest albums like For You/Prince, 1999 (a favorite), Sign O The Times, Purple Rain (these last three have very good SDE versions, specially SOTT), Love Symbol, Gold Experience, and 3121 for a roundabout on his usual music over the years, as each decade he evolved on his own and with the times, I would also recommend Emancipation since that one has my favorite overall sound of his from the 90s but that album is VERY long, so that is up to you.
a whirl...and some of the others. Early days ~ exciting !Emancipation
I appreciateIf you want to check some of his experimental stuff, there's The Truth and One Nite Alone, which feature primarily acoustic guitar for the former and piano for the latter, some very good stuff there, specially a song that would later get remixed for another album of his later on:
Thank You
And of course, there are the instrumental albums Xpectation and N.E.W.S which are really fun to listen to.
You know i really appreciate all of the input..You know, as a Batman fan (and in no way trying to deminish your reaction)
Yeah see when i was typing that out i was thinking ..well... he did get 'through to kid-me' somehow because he was able to elicit a strong trigger emotion within. Although i didn't follow that path or at least split /shared it . When you are young though you tend to dance to your own tune. i guess. I know i did. literallyI find this pretty funny due to how good it represents the character, I absolutely loved how he acted in the Batdance and Partyman music videos due to this, his Joker interpretation, it felt true to the character and he looked like he was having fun going at it too which in turn made the whole thing very fun to watch to me.
See this is the thing when i mentioned acting - he was muti talented it probably why i connected with that , although on that occasion negatively but it shows how supreme he was at his craft and to of course, elicit emotions.I get it though, it is exactly how the whole thing is meant to be seen at its core so it all makes the most sense and I can totally see how off putting it could be to you.
Thank you i appreciateOn that note, I would like to recommend too some songs sampled in Batdance, that be its
My excitement is picking up when i see B side words attached to P because i know that from the little that I do know and have heard ...his B sides creations are so far what i have heard , really something worthwhile. I picked that up straight away. We have some hidden gems !B-side
TY i will finally revisit this ..have a snout. Between the photos throughout his 40 ? year career and his music and vision , we have something to scream about lol200 Balloons, or the unreleased ones like We Got The Power.
I knew it. This is the evil twist ..Another footnote that I want to get through here is the song that would've taken its place in the album before being replaced due to being
I'm hooked. ...i'm gutted .....and i am hooked ~and i feel everything else in between ! ha! wow - aww man...My coffee has gone cold.too dark,
Oh. If only. Now see if this...and one which (IIRC) was credited to "The Joker" in the beginning (which was a recurring theme in the album notes if I remember well).
That is really appreciated thanks. I will make sure to check it out. Also, if you're having trouble keeping up with his music I heavily recommend princevault.com,
i have bookmarked this prince vault dot com site thank youit's a gargantuan encyclopedia of all of his works released and unreleased and all of it is mainly easy enough to navigate, so you could check out what songs and albums you could be interested in with things like the song list or his discography page.
Well i must say UTCM was something i was not expecting at all. Graffiti Bridge... well i knew of it course i didMaybe I should give it a try when I can, I don't know. I loved the album at least, and at the very least I expect the full film to be fun.
Yes it felt that way Maybe the media made it so. We were all so young. i have this nagging regret no matter how hard i try to excuse the fact . Although now i have m and P in my heart.I see, it makes sense. I would expect at the time to be two spectrums in a way for younger audiences which could overlap at times.
Well... I am really happy that you have discovered him too and i one hundred percent know now that i missed opportunities of knowledge & perhaps memories, because this is an artist i would have definitely gone to see live. Especially in his later years. I decided this when i stumbled upon the video the other day of his Piano playing in his LOvesexy 88. tour. if he was that good when younger when he was mature the piano playing will have been off the charts.I'm very happy for you to try and revisit it in all fairnest for the times
Sh1tty of me. Every day P gains new supporters and they are coming in daily , and now i am one so that is something positive i tell myself. [ early days still LOL because i don't like everything he put out ~ but 40 or so albums ....well that is , i am sure something for everyone who listens.]you blocked him out,
Certainly will check the flow sequence. tar very muchFrom the Love Symbol album, pretty short and segued from the song beforehand (Damn U, really sweet one), I like the energy on that one, in fact, the whole Damn U/Arrogance/The Flow/7 sequence flows really well and is great to listen from time to time, check that out too if you can,
Sounds pretty interesting . Well i do have that album coming. I am waiting on that one.the two songs in-between Damn U and 7 are kinda short and make it all stand out pretty well.
i need an arse whopping plain n simple babe It is unforgivable ignorance. As I said, I am pretty happy that you can do it now even if it's late and the man is gone, with that you can appreciate his artistry at least in your own way at this time and have an outlook on things, how you felt before shouldn't matter in terms of that right now, because you were able to outgrow it in given time; again, even if late.
Gosh i am cluelessParade is the album for Under The Cherry Moon,
Okay i will check that one outwhat you're thinking of is Around The World In A Day (really good, came out after Purple Rain and is of around the same quality to me).
Just a start , I like physical media alot. It is nice to have a 'new' cd or dvd or a new book. I know what i am looking for when i see it ..it is in some ways de ja vu because [i am not comparing these artists, it is impossible to do that [& probably why i got in such a pickle first time round] cos it is clear both have different quality mindsets and boundless artistry and ideas but the same values at being a huge, powerful, and overwhelming force in their artistry's. ] but it is that feeling that happened when i first discovered Michael. so if i do compare the feeling this is my epiphany P. moment right here. That really is a lot, you may end up more caught up than me lol. It seems you're getting quite the treasures, happy for you.
I have searched this before and all I have gotten is... I don't know. There doesn't really seem to be one, the closest I have is how he had relation to calling his fans "fams" but that would be it, really.
