One of my mad YT moments. Was looking for something entirely different and YT suddenly threw this Prince link at me. I loved the photos so I had to post them. I like his taste better than Michael's. Neverland is too full of baroque, OTT stuff for my liking. Too heavily influenced by European aristocratic interiors which isn't for me. This all looks quite Art Deco so I like it a lot more.

I went wild for m s kitchen that dark real wood back in 00s , also the sleigh beds....

See, that's exactly what I can't stand. The rococo aspect. Loads of people - especially rich people - seem to love it but I never have.

It is interesting how much you can pick up about a person based on their interior decor choices. Michael's clothes ... so elegant and streamlined and with those beautiful outlines and yet his home furnishings are so florid and OTT - imo!

Prince in the 80's with those flouncy, annoying (to me!) outfits and yet here is PP looking cool and elegant and so 1930's - but also very modern.

i am just checking it now . It might give an eye ache or two when slicing the bread! lol ...i like it though. def. ....unique. bit claustrophobic.

Actually zin i don't know if you have ever seen Under The Cherry Moon [1986] he wears this ..oh man , it is truly stunning.. there is a certain lace shirt there but it is sparkly and it is really something glorious. Its flows so beautifully on him And then there is a black jacket which is really sparkly. It is all filmed in black and white and it just really works. Shows the lines off beautifully. i can't find that shirt on pin and i think the jacket he wears in a video but im clueless to what vid i mean so i can't pinpoint it currently.

P i think, favoured a certain colour pallet , & designs with an asymmetrical edge with immaculate detail.

and yet here is PP looking cool and elegant and so 1930's - but also very modern.

It really is a beautiful place i have to admit. So cool !

I have zero interest in that part of his work. I mean, I'm still not that up with his music, tbh. This time last year I had one song I liked - SOTT - and now I have ... actually, I don't know how many. Maybe 10 - 12? I've got that Mick Wall one. Read it a couple of years ago, can't remember anything about it except it was really dull. The other one is that one by Neal Karlen. "This Thing Called Life: Prince's Odyssey On + Off the Record". I've dipped in a couple of times, haven't liked what I've seen so far. He doesn't seem to be a particularly good writer, imo. The two mentions of Michael are not nice. I'm not trying to put you off. I haven't read enough of it to form an opinion. But it hasn't got off to a good start, put it that way.

No i am not put off i did pit them against 1 another for thirty five years , & got very very angry with P but doing that is like comparing chalk and cheese. i need this. lol ...and i am curious about the Neal mj bashing hmm . That reminds me of an experience i had lwith one book ..Pearl Jam it was .i never finished it because i stopped reading when they did that . the author bashed Andrew Wood and it was unpro when they do that.

I think, at the very least, the situation was probably way more complicated or nuanced than that. Prince might well have had his issues with Michael but I'm not sure I trust Karlen's representation of the whole thing. I could be wrong but I'm just taking it with a pinch of salt. People are on record saying that Prince really admired Michael and was cut up when he died. We have the Lenny Kravitz story about the three of them just hanging out for a whole day and having a blast.

"He said that Prince called him and said, “I need you to be ready in 30 minutes. I’m coming to get you.” Curious, Kravitz asked where they were going and the purple one responded, “We’re going to mess with Michael.”

They drove over to Sony Studios in New York where Jackson was working at the time. Kravitz said he booked the entire place for himself. “Prince and I went there and we hung out with him all afternoon and just had fun—made fun of each other, laughed, hung out.”
