Hopefully he can capture Mike's essence in his acting, Fuqua is a great director to learn from

Seriously, though, I've had thoughts about a few of the garments we've seen, the jacket most of all. I haven't seen the musical so I can't compare. I'm not going to post my thoughts on the jacket (nitpicking!) but I'd love to know more about this side of things. Maybe when the film is out, that's when people will do interviews. I tried to find interviews with John Logan but they are all old ones. Really good stuff but nothing about the biopic. Which makes sense, I understand that, but I need interviews!

I'm not slagging off Marci Rodgers, btw, I'm not saying she's doing a bad job with the costumes. I don't wanna judge her work on the few, random photos we've seen so far. That wouldn't be fair.

Absolutely. We’ll hear Thriller obviously. Maybe a clip of the short film or live performance, MJ in the recording studio or something. To re-shoot the short film would be massively impractical and reductive I would imagine.

Gotta say, when this thing was first announced I was kinda terrified that it would be a trainwreck. My attitude towards it is a bit better now, it seems that it has a good chance. Good vibes and reviews of the trailer from people who saw it is a very good thing as well.

Casting someone else as 1990's / 2000's Michael isn't going to happen, imo. The casting is already finished. It would have been complete before they even started to film any scenes. The only reason we're getting delayed announcements about who is playing which character is so the production team can maintain interest in the project (fans, media), especially given that we are almost a year away from its cinema release.

Even if they decided to have a different person playing mature Michael that person has already been cast, they just haven't been announced. But I don't think that will happen. I'd be really surprised if they split the role between two people. I just can't see that happening. It's Jaafar all the way

Lol! But nah, truly I'm not. But after just remembering what the jacket looked like in the Musical, I was like hmmm . And whew, you know way more than me about the Biopic ins and outs because besides the list of actors we know so far, I don't know much else. After some fans had reservations about the musical which was understandable (the show is amazing btw, seen it three times) I stopped getting too emotionally invested. I just pray and hope for the best. I ain't here entirely for MJs estate but based on the Musical and Michael's son, Prince being involved, Imma just hope the biopic does what it needs to do, and I belive it will! However, my sideeye will probably still make a few observations--I just won't be taking it to the floor with some stuff. Thanks for hearing me! Lol. And I truly understand how you want to know about the side of things...I'll do that after the biopic is released.

I don't have a problem with this specific question. I think it came up already, earlier in the thread. So far we haven't got the faintest idea how they are going to tackle it, assuming they go all the way which they have implied they will.

Make-up? CGI?

I haven't seen the musical but the photos from the end of the show I find very jarring bc of the darker skin tone. I understand that it's more difficult for a theatre production to tackle this but the film will need to grapple with it. They will already have made their decision on this, it's just that we don't know what the plan is. Jaafar's skin tone in that MITM photo that was released, it was too dark.

I'm taking it for granted they will include the vitiligo in the story line bc how else can they expect the audience to understand? Younger people or the general public who don't know much about Michael do need to have this properly explained to them. Not everyone who goes to see the film will be someone who lived through the 80's and 90's when this was all happening in real time.

It's a challenge, that's for sure.

Michael Jackson was unique looking. There was always going to have to be an element of:

Suspended belief
Heavy makeup
Possible CGI.

They have a much bigger budget than MITM so I'm not worried about them making it look silly or laughable like Flex Washington.

Same. I'll decide what to do when it comes out. Right now I'm madly keen to see who they cast as LMP. I'm intrigued as to how they are going to create a coherent story out of Michael's drama filled life. Apart from that, I think it's fair to say my feelings about this thing are mixed, lol.

It seems that every message board is wall to wall complaining and nit picking about something we haven't even seen so much as a trailer for. Relax and wait and see. All earl indications for this are much more positive than they could have been considering all that's gone on.

After seeing Back To Black, everyone should be much more concerned about how MJ is portrayed, and not about his jackets (if you are going to be concerned about anything). I came out of Back To Black feeling sorry for Amy that it was even made. Everyone around her came out of that film looking better than they did in real life, and Amy came out looking worse (which says a lot considering how she ended up).

There are so many snakes and ladders in MJs life that this needs to be presented in a way that compliments the man and the art, something that we cannot get from still images.

CGI? I don't know... How did old Harisson Ford turn out as young Indiana Jones?
MITM was probably just a rehearsal and they do not need full mask or CGI when rehearsing.

Usually what happens then is loads of people rush in and tell them to stop complaining - which they haven't necessarily been doing, merely expressing some doubts.

We really haven't a clue how spruced up everything will look in post production. They're running with a ridiculous budget so my point is we aren't supposed to see the majority of what we've seen, and will look better/pop more on the big screen.

Dunno. Didn't watch. I've only seen one Indiana film, the one with Sean Connery. Everything after that I ignored. Other people have suggested CGI as a possible solution and I figured they must know something I don't. Film is not my jam so I hardly ever watch contemporary films.

Not wanting to keep banging this particular drum but it's the size of the budget that made me disappointed with the styling we've seen so far. They have the money to make it look much better, imo. That said, I'm not sitting in judgement. That would be ridiculous. It's early days yet.

I agree with all of this. I hope it does look much better once it's seen for real. Not sure if I'll be watching the film but I do want to see if I can watch the trailer when it comes out. That'll tell us a lot. And I still think it's interesting that the CinemaCon preview got so many positive reactions.
