The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I still find it interesting that Michasl thought the 1988 version of Streetwalkee was superior because it isn’t at all. The 1988 one is great domt get me wrong, but the vibe of the 87 feels so much more fitting to what Streetwalker is about, plus it doesn’t feel like an aggressive cousin to TWYMMF
Well Someone put your head out DEMO might be superior as well compared to the progressed version.

Depends what you're looking for. I think the final version is better but the uptempo feel of the earlier is nice.

Streetwalker is uptempo both ways, one's just groovier. Ones more cowboy.

... I think sometime he worked just too long on certain Song ideas.

I mean how good was the simple piano/vocal demo of LNFSG compared to later released heavily produced songs. The pure Michael strikes through mainly from OTW to Bad in my opinion. The Little Susie Demo would be so interesting to hear. Maybe another example.

There was also "Streetwalker" a true orphan, I made that track while MJ was on tour for Bad. Holed up at Smoketree for a couple weeks, played all the stuff, and my friend Jasun Martz came and played the blues harp solo, when I sent it in Michael said, "Billy that harmonica is ignorant!" (and not in a good way) I wrote the whole thing off until noticing a week ago that they released it! As is.

Anyway on to the good stuff. Again I don't remember what was shared in the other seminars so I'm sure a lot of it will be similar. Here is a list of demos he played:
-I can't help it
-Scared of the moon (at least a different sounding version)
-Streetwalker (2 different versions from the one we know)
-Black or white (almost the same as the one released but without the rap in place)
-Monkey business
-If you don't love me
-Who is it
-Give in to me ( Really special to hear, you basically heard a jam session for like 10 min. and you could hear the song evolve in to what we know now, it sounded totally different at first!)
Wait, there's a Westlake version of Scared of the Moon???

Working with Michael was amazing. I'd been a fan from the Jackson 5 days, and I wound up playing on all his solo albums except the last one. There was always something special about him. Everyone who worked with him sensed something bubbling underneath. We wrote a lot together, and I'm still sitting on some unreleased songs we worked on, with finished lead vocals and everything. - Steve Porcaro

When was this said? Before or after Dreams Away got leaked? 😄
