I know that if I was in MJ's position in '93 and '03 I would have been incredibly stressed, depressed, and much more. then throw in the medical issues and the negativity in the press about his skin colour etc.
Actually it must have been hard even at other times because the allegations haunted him for life. Wherever he went there people who thought he was guilty, and although there were fans there too he would have been hounded by the negativity. Just watch the Monaco World Music Awards from '96. There are quite clearly a couple of lads there who are aggressively shouting abuse at MJ during his performance. That must have been upsetting.
Laughing a lot does not always mean that you are a truly happy person, because for example your laughing can be a result of drugs/substances.No he wasnt... he laughed a lot, and had that true joy. But I guess he was lonely, since he always said that himself.
According to sources close to him, Michael Jackson exhibited signs not only of sadness but also of depression during the Victory Tour.I am sure he was happy during Thriller/ Bad era, maybe even upto Dangerous. He had success he dreamed of, he bought Neverland and converted it into his dream house. His autobiography at that time seems happy. Though in later years, are a different story.
There was also his Body Dysmorphic Disorder (i.e., his excessive concern with a perceived, minor physical irregularity). What really angers me about some people, is when I hear comments like "He was so loved and successful; how could he possibly be sad?" They're conveniently ignoring the fundamental fact that Michael was human, just like the rest of us. He had some happy times, to be sure...but because of various circumstances (very few consciously chosen), his personal life was one step away from the phrase "a living hell". He was robbed very early on of his innocence, denied a proper childhood, and ridiculously restrained by the cult of the Jehovah's Witnesses (and yes, they are a cult; do your own research on the subject). After he left that group behind, he was more free career-wise, but he still had many inner demons to fight. His chronic insomnia, continued pain from the burns he suffered during the infamous Pepsi video shoot, and undergoing multiple surgeries, some of which never fully healed...quite frankly, I'm surprised he lived to 50. Throw in the vitiligo and lupus, plus fools around the world claiming that Prince and Paris weren't really his kids...I still love his music, but I'm selfishly glad I never had to experience his life.
Jack still cries day and night
Jack's not happy with his life
He wanna do this, he wanna do that
He wanna be kind but ends up flat
For love
But you can't take my blues away
No matter what you say, hey
You can't take my blues away
No matter what you say
What you say, hey, babe
