The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Say what you want about Bryan Loren's tracks, but Serious Effect sounds like single material.
Hard disagree. The Bryan Loren tracks are incredibly boring and bland in my opinion. The only one that had some potential is She Got It, could’ve been a decent album track if finished

Serious Effect sounds much smoother, much more timeless and more elegant than the rather experimental She Got It. But to each their own. Serious Effect also focuses on the behavior of women, which is why the song is a hit. She Got It targets the body only.

OMG - it would be awesome if Bill would share his notes on Victory sessions

It was either mixing the OG State of Shock during Victory session
Or
A session with all the brothers and MJ at CanAm - the fam here helped me think it was Buffalo Bill

Both of these I remember as my earliest MJ session.
I could check my journals
"Buffalo Bill" likely had Bruce Swedien engineering it, the basic tracks at least... In MJ's Musician magazine 1984 feature, it says that Michael chose Bruce to engineer his solo tracks as the Jacksons' prior albums had sounded thinly recorded.

That said, in Bill Bottrell's earlier tweets he recalled overdubbing to a recording by Matt Forger. I wonder if Matt would ever share his calendars at some point...

Any chance of 'House Groove' having something to do with the 'Saturday Woman' snippet?

That's fake, from what I was told the instrumental used was created by Kai (I can't say it's true, but if you notice it has samples that Kai uses a lot). This is the full instrumental

So is the recent BL tape stuff confirmation that Man In Black does only have a chorus or do we still think there could be a version with more vocals?

With Michael you never know what's out there. It could be just chorus vocals on all Dangerous era tapes, and yet Michael could have worked further on MiB years later unbeknowst to original producers/engineers.

This list is from the time when Teddy's joined the team, I suppose??

Oh yeah I see, thanx! So someone used his instrumental and put some MJ vocals over it, or did he do it himself?

To be honest I really liked the 'housey'-sound of that snippet, I would have really appreciated f MJ had done some tracks with house-influences..

Yes, Michael Jackson recorded vocals for "Truth on Youth." However, the song's development stage at the time of recording is unclear. Some sources suggest:

# Possible Scenarios
1. Demo vocals: Jackson might have laid down temporary vocals, intending to refine them later.
2. Guide vocals: He could have recorded guide vocals to help LL Cool J align his rap verses.
3. Completed vocals: Jackson might have fully recorded his parts, but the song wasn't finalized or mixed.

The song's status and details remain unclear due to the unreleased nature of the track.
