The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I agree! Dangerous is my favorite album and I really wish there was more recognition for it. Full of bangers, both released and unreleased.

Bill Botrell on the Smooth Criminal demo (from Sundberg's laptop):

Ok I recognize that. It's got David's gtr. Early guide vocals

You all want rarities.
I want to find out how identical the releases are to the HH tapes.

I have asked before who might have those tapes and I've forgotten the answer!
Also, don't forget Liberian Girl, TWYMMF, Price of Fame, and IJCSLY.

Don't waste good unreleased material for anniversaries or deluxe editions!

Throw a bunch of good unreleased songs together, let's say six or seven, add another one or two deep cuts from earlier compilations (like Cheater, We've had enough, In The Back, and the like).

And release these as an album of previously unreleased/rare material. Like they did with Xscape & Michael.

"Major playa move" for DEFINITIV and huge worldwide success:
Add 'Ghost Of Another Lover' (mixed as a most complete version possible, with all vocals from all different sessions edited together) plus all different demo versions of the song!!!!

Anniversaries are a double edged sword. There’s very rarely enough material to justify buying an album I’ve bought like eight times already, but the albums also deserve their moment in the spotlight.

I’d honestly rather a new album. Whatever form that might take, then maybe a box set with demos and alternate takes.

Rob Stringer said there isn't gonna be any more Michael/Xscape-type albums a few years ago though, I don't think we should expect them to do these anymore.

With that statement Stringer also said that we would get singles every few months instead. Never happened.

A lot has changed since then. A lot has happened. And the movie will switch up everything once again.

The movie and it's aftermath could very well be THE biggest and probably the last hurray for MJ since his passing. They'd wanna take full advantage of the pulling effect the movie and marketing will have on ALL things MJ. To have some of the biggest music related releases in that same time frame would only be logical and rational.

Though it goes without saying that I'm not forgetting that we're dealing with THE ESTATE of estates and the JohnJohn's here.

(I hope Prince MJ has a weighty word in and an eye on EVERYTHING and that there will soon be a transition phase to a new and better leadership for the MJ estate (at least on the creative side).)

Michael Jackson's official YouTube channel has released the full audio of the Bad Tour show in Yokohama:

I agree with you, the tracks released on Bad25 and Thriller40 could have been used in a more attractive way, especially Price of Fame and Who do You Know. These songs, if finished, could be real hits.

Hmm.yeah it would be good if Prince MJ .....(can't even type/think it ...cos you know it would be so meticulously organised...💯)
But isn't he busy with his own projects ..??

I haven't been too interested on outtakes from the HIStory album but when Brad Buxer gave praise to "Rich Girl" a few months back and said it's one of the songs he wants to see get released the most the song's been on my radar since then. Would love for them to include it on a re-issue of HIStory if they really make one.
Do you have a link to that interview?

So there is a version of Ghost of Another Lover with more (proper) vocals? 🤩

MJ had a cd with two mixes of the song in his house when he passed. We don't know what was changed or if more vocals were added.

Between Changes and Ghost Of Another Lover, I can't stop playing those tracks. I'd be so surprised if Michael never went back and did more to them because he had a great ear for hits and the potential these demos had was crazy.
I don't even care how incomplete they are, I'm hooked.

Changes is so soulful, I find myself going back to it more and more, I wish Mike did more stuff like this post Dangerous, it just suits his vice so well.

Yes That's at Soundcastle. MJ was there only a few times. JB and MJ at Soundcastle at the same time could only be Pepsi - Billie Jean. We did the whole thing that day.

I don't remember. I remember Spanish vocals on Bad, not sure about Billie Jean?
Fam here might know about that.

Seems like the "Pepsi Generation" mix of Billie Jean was done over at Soundcastle. I sometimes wondered when he did that version: now I know...where, at least.

New music was just uploaded to the official YouTube channel. Unfortunately, there’s no description or information. Maybe this is one of MJ’s classical compositions?

Yes. I remember Greg coming to Soundcastle around the Victory era recording this song.
I can't tell if we finished it to this extent or not.
Because on YouTube they credit Richard Perry as producer. And I know RP was not at our session.
