Never heard of Jungle City. Is that a writers demo with just Babyface on lyrics, or do we know MJ also worked on it?Even if those Babyface songs are writer's demos I still wouldn't say no to listening to them honestly lol. Some of those writer's demos can be a diamond in a rough and I think they should get more attention within the fanbase. "Jungle City" for example is one hell of a song, and I still can't believe we got to hear it. I was sure it would be unheard forever. "Change" and "I Want You To Stay" by Marsha Ambrosius are great, also.
And there's some demos out there that I'm eager for them to leak, such as the Ne-Yo and the Eric Kirkland songs--especially the Ne-Yo songs. I'm sure those are complete bangers.
Yeah, I thought about him, too. There are a couple of Teddy songs I'm not really too fond of in terms of creativeness, but he also contributed to MJ classics (RTT) and one of the best Invincible songs (Whatever Happens).Tbh Teddy, too.
Friday Night and Midnight by Dr Freeze. Two of my new fave songs actually.Even if those Babyface songs are writer's demos I still wouldn't say no to listening to them honestly lol. Fair point! Id say its the same for Bryan Loren and Rodney Jerkins.
Might i add TimberlandTbh Teddy, too.
It’s a demo with Dr.Freeze vocals, worked with MJ, Freeze, Prince and Buxer in 1998 - 1999 (and later with Prince and Buxer in 2000s), mj never recorded itNever heard of Jungle City. Is that a writers demo with just Babyface on lyrics, or do we know MJ also worked on it?
Agreed. Writers demos are cool to listen to but if Michael never laid vocals, I don't care to hear it.I‘m definitely not interested in some writers demos. I’m a Michael Jackson fan and I listen to MJ songs because I wanna listen to him.
The more input MJ has in a song the better.
That said: I do also like the songs where he put only his vocals to it.
But I’m not interested in a demo song, sung by anyone else.
Those two were never recorded by him, Shut Up And Dance has a nice groove but the lyrics are rather mid while Jungle City sounds cool in it's own way. And for just written for MJ songs, I think they are way too many of thoseI’m interested in writers demos for songs that MJ actively worked on and/or wanted to record. “Jungle City,” “Shut Up and Dance,” etc. If they’re just songs written for MJ, that’s not really my interest point.
Cringe.Hearing demos to songs he actually recorded, like Human Nature, Man in the Mirror, Carousel, 2000 Watts and things like that are cool because you can hear how they changed when Michael recorded it but a regular demo of a song that grazed his ears at one point doesn't do it for me plus I hate when the demo mimics his voice. Cringe.
But MJ worked on both of them and expressed an interest in putting vocals down. By nature, those songs stick out more than others. Those two were never recorded by him, Shut Up And Dance has a nice groove but the lyrics are rather mid while Jungle City sounds cool in it's own way. well it's just my personal opinion and I have only heard around half of both tracks but from what I have heard it's like not on MJ's level of writingBut MJ worked on both of them and expressed an interest in putting vocals down. By nature, those songs stick out more than others.
Exactly! And it's just what I was trying to say. Those songs, though may not have been recorded by MJ but instead by another vocalist are still MJ songs by extension since he made contributions to them, so they retain a certain value. Songs like "Jungle City", "Is She Coming Back", Shut Up and Dance", the Ne-Yo songs, etc. sparks almost as much interest in me as an original MJ song would, especially if we know it comes from a good producer/songwriter.I’m interested in writers demos for songs that MJ actively worked on and/or wanted to record. “Jungle City,” “Shut Up and Dance,” etc. If they’re just songs written for MJ, that’s not really my interest point.
Agreed! There are a good amount of MJ songs that can be a great listen just with the instrumental track alone, Michael's voice pretty much just makes it the cherry on top. "Will You Be There", "Stranger In Moscow", "Beat It," etc. sound great on their own.One of my fave Marvin Gaye songs is instrumental. I think there's value in hearing those kinds of tracks.
I’m right there with you. Honestly, I’ve grown to appreciate unreleased songs of all stages of completion. Even if MJ’s just mumbling, it’s fascinating to see what was going on in his head and to wonder where a song could’ve gone. One of my fave Marvin Gaye songs is instrumental. Exactly, but MJ‘s involvement is key.I’m right there with you. Honestly, I’ve grown to appreciate unreleased songs of all stages of completion. Even if MJ’s just mumbling, it’s fascinating to see what was going on in his head and to wonder where a song could’ve gone.
I think the biopic would be the best place for these. Just as incidental music, maybe during the credits. I cant imagine any other project they’d fit on.Like I’m still hoping for his classical ideas/compositions to be released one day.
Only other one I can think of would be an anthology set of unfinished demos, but obviously the estate has shown zero interest in doing that.I think the biopic would be the best place for these. Just as incidental music, maybe during the credits. I cant imagine any other project they’d fit on.
Riley was only brought in during the early months of 2001, and the original 1999 configuration of the album included compositions by Brad Buxer, Dr. Freeze, Walter Afanasieff, and Cory Rooney. Oh yeah, and at least one track from Wyclef Jean and Rodney Jerkins
Story I heard is that there was an MJ fan event of some sort and a collector passed on a cassette tape of demos and outtakes, which was eventually transferred and leaked. Not sure how true that is.Is there any backstory on how the thriller era demos leaked in the early 2000s (baby be mine, Wbss, hot street, and state of shock)
Are you sure? What if Cheater really was Buffalo Bill's demo?Cool fake
State of shock ?? A different version / demo ? The leaks from Thriller occured in 2002. Those tracks were considered for the 2001 special edition . In early 2000 , several projects were strike by leaks. Usher , RKelly , Nas, D'angelo etc...Is there any backstory on how the thriller era demos leaked in the early 2000s (baby be mine, Wbss, hot street, and state of shock)
Available on the internet as illegal downloads, yes. But these were traded on cassette tape way before since late 1990s.The leaks from Thriller occured in 2002.
Nope. Those tracks were considered for the 2001 special edition .
Early mix with Freddie MercuryState of shock ?? A different version / demo ?
