The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I've been convinced ever since it was all just rumours in writing that, post-Invincible and once he was feeling better enough after the trial, Michael was working on some of the best music of his career. Some of the most forward-thinking, sonically rich and interesting ideas that he ever came up with.

The more snippets we hear (and I know they are just snippets) the more I am convinced that was the case. I really do think his next LP was going to be an absolute monster, full of very modern hits and new ideas that nobody else was trying in equal measure. I think it'd have been the first major album to properly exploit the Internet age, too. YouTube records would have been set by his new short films... I can only imagine!

This era of his life has been my favourite for years now since it was surrounded in mystery, so negative on the surface, with shining beacons of hope bursting through from the underground.

The material he was working on both excites and upsets me in equal measure, because he was back, but we will never hear it finished. He was the greatest artist to ever live and I don't believe he ever lost even a drop of his songwriting ability. In fact, it might have even got sharper and deeper as he aged. Blows my mind and inspires me to keep going in my life and with my own art.

Really hope we get to hear some full tracks soon.

That's just wishful thinking, I think. None of that was ever going to happen. Some of us are still falling for MJ's "the best is yet to come" quip 25 years later.

I have to disagree. I’m yet to hear a single track written or recorded during 2002-2009 that hits the same level of his peak 80s/90s material. The only one that is even remotely close is Beautiful Girl, and that was recorded 1998. All the rest are either mid or just okay. There are a couple good songs like HMH, HT. Just my take.

"Hold My Hand" was booty

I’m of the opinion that Invincible was always going to be MJ’s final album, and that what came after would be nothing more than the occasional single, if that.

He was aware that the songs he wrote himself were no longer commercial enough to warrant being on an album by the ‘King of Pop’, hence Invincible’s reliance on outside material. Stuff like Beautiful Girl and In the Back didn’t make the album for a reason, and was put on TUC in an incomplete state for the same reason. Something like Adore You would likely have suffered the same fate

It’s been said many times but MJ didn’t seem to think that his own, less commercial works warranted much attention, but that getting Will.I.am or RedOne to write him a hit single did. HIStory seemed to get the balance pretty spot on between hit singles and artistic merit, but obviously something had changed by the time Invincible came around, and I personally don’t think anything would have changed if he had lived

I do love this thread. I think it's wonderful how we can all hear the same snippets and listen to the same podcasts and draw entirely different conclusions. "This album would have been great" "No it would have been bad / not good enough" "There wasn't gonna be an album" and everything else. It's great to see that Michael's work, even in its most incomplete forms, is still inspiring such deep conversations and a real sense of mystery and excitement.

Whatever you think of literally any unreleased song, rumoured song, potential album, I'm glad we all have each other in these discussions and the pieces of art that inspire them.

I kind of agree. Actually, I'll even go so far to say Dangerous was the last album that I never skip. Everything after that just paled in comparison. There were still some great songs (like Butterflies) but the level of consistency was never the same.

Post Invincible, the only song I ever go back to is "I Am A Loser". That song needs to be completed. Would love to hear what was worked on with RedOne and Will.i.Am though.

Btw King of Aura said all the snippets are previews. so he might just post all those songs he uploaded snippets of. or he'll do one song at a time.

Ok so if I'm right, the songs that are circulating are:
Don't Matter To Me (2014 rework)
possibly Turning Me Off
possibly Crack Kills
Throwing Your Life Away (is it throwin' or throwing?)
possibly Ghost of Another Lover
possibly Michael McKeller
Changes
Innocent Man
Monster
Rocker
Adore You
Water
H2O/Dark lady
Remember What I Told You

Snippets of I was the loser, a bit more of changes (verse stuff) & a good chance of a bit of world of candy. There’s a chance of a few other songs too, such as a version of Xscape featuring lil Wayne, a few writers demos, and some other stuff.

Don’t believe these guys and anything they are saying unless they upload a full version of a song. Dark lady came out of the blue and even my lads are confused to what the fucks going on.

Meant to also mention possible snippets of Michael’s affirmation & some slow song Michael did in a phone call with production over it.

I’m letting everything known that had been shown to decredit these liars. They have snippets of material, but not the actual tracks.

“I happy.”

There's way more than meets the eye, but for the most part, yeah.
