The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Bill Bottrell:

Working with Michael on BAD I learned that you always put in many extra bars in places like the intros and outros, cause you never know if he'll go off in a vocal or spoken-word thing. Or maybe a guitar part will be so good you want a breakdown.

Now 2 of my unreleased productions that came out have these looonng intros. With no reason.

This is how you can tell they never got the final edit or mix.

Streetwalker is a mix I'm fine with. But that long intro is crazy!

Monkey Business has both- long intro and a mix that my perfectionism cringes at.

Hopefully Bill Bottrell will be able to do a finished Monkey Business mix one day, adore that song already and it can be made much better.

too bad he doesn’t have the version with lyrics.
So childish. Really?

I Love You More (Eric Kirkland, Michael Prince, Michael Jackson) - __/__/__ (maybe the almighty Motif knows the date)

Verse 1
I’m imagining, imagining right here in my arms
And you’re holding me, it’s the sweetest dream
Now I’m wondering, if I surrender my heart to you
Would you do the same? And maybe one day share my name?

Now... I don’t know what’s going through your mind
But I swear I’d love you 'til the end of time
I could be your everything
And you’ll never need another
I’m the Mr. Right you’ve been looking for
So girl, don’t look no further!

Chorus
(I love you more) More than words could say
(I love you moore) And I love you more each day
(I love you mooore) Oh girl, you know it’s true
(I love you moooore) I’d give my life for you

More than the air I breathe **
Oh girl, you complete me **
I love you more… ooh, I love you, baby **

Verse 2

Skeptical is what I felt the moment my heart told me
Don’t let go of this love so strong
And when it’s said and done, I wanna show you what I’m feeling
Baby, one on one, making sweet love 'til the morning comes

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

Girl, I need you to tell me what you’re feeling
Because my love’s so strong, I know it will last forever and a day, baby
Now we need to hold on to every single minute
Only your love makes me feel this way ***
But my heart will always say ***

When life is too short to hold back, girl **
I wanna say just what I feel! **

Repeat Chorus

Chorus Out

So these are writers demo vocals, right?

1. In the biopic teaser, there's a scene where Quincy and MJ are deciding the Thriller tracklist. Among the titles, besides Hot Street, we can also see Midas and Paradise. Does Forger know anything about these tracks?

2. In the past, Forger mentioned that MJ gave the multitrack of Tomboy to Roger. Does he know what use was made of it? Is there any connection between Tomboy and Zapp's Stop That?

3. Are there any updates regarding the search for the tape Groove of the Midnight? Forger once said he couldn't find it during the Bad 25 research.

4. In his opinion, which unreleased song or demo was MJ most excited about? Any anecdotes about its creation or what his vision for it was?

5. On the flip side, were there any unreleased tracks that MJ told him he was really unhappy with and never wanted to revisit?

6. How involved were the Jackson brothers in Buffalo Bill? How much of MJ's vocals exist, and in what condition? Was the track ever presented to Quincy?

7. Did Michael ever record Spice of Life and Mystery? Both songs were reportedly presented to him, some sources say he recorded them, others say he didn't. Can Forger clarify that?

Great questions!

1) I'm really keen to learn more about Midas, Paradise, and Out Of The Dark!

3) I seem to recall Matt Forger eventually saying that a demo existed but that he never found it.

7)Spice Of Life is definitely recorded, but I'd love to know more about Mystery.

My second priority is getting confirmation of the demos for You're the One, Eaten Alive, and Centipede. (And even Alright Now, just to be sure...)

Allow me to throw my questions into the ring:

1. Did you ever hear a song named "Attitude" during the Thriller sessions? Furthermore, were "Stay," "A Chance To Dance," and "Let's Fall In Love Tonight" actual songs worked on at Westlake?
2. What about the songs listed in the 1993 deposition, such as "Cry," "She's Not A Girl," "Sister Sue," and "Why Shy?" Do you remember hearing those?
3. Did you exclusively use 24 track 2" tapes while at Hayvenhurst during the pre-production sessions for BAD, or did you also make use of 16 track 2" tapes and even 1" 32 track tapes?
4. What did the HIStory version of Don't Be Messin' 'Round sound like?
5. Are there any early tracklists in existence for BAD, Dangerous, and HIStory that had different songs and orders in place?

1) I'm really keen to learn more about Midas, Paradise, and Out Of The Dark!

Could Out Of The Dark be a demo of Someone In The Dark ?

Also, I see a song called Obsession (on the right of the Hot Street card) and another called [...] beat (below the Beat it card) in the teaser (on the same board as Midas and Paradise).

Does anyone knows about these songs ?

wait where do you see those? I couldn't make the others out (unless you confused "Odessa" with "Obsession")

Addendum because it just hit me: "do you remember anything from 'Get Up' and 'Dreams?'"

Obsession is the card between Hot Street and PYT, I don't think it is possible that Odessa is written on this card because we can read clearly a "b" on second letter and a "s" on a third letter.

[...] beat is just below the Beat it card.

It's possible that it could be a groove named "Backbeat" that was tried out in hopes of fleshing it out into an actual song. About the "Obsession" thing, it actually makes way more sense because why would MJ and Quincy name a song after a random Ukranian city, even as a work title?

Speaking of that shot, the Westlake tracksheet reads "DEMO" over Tracks 1 and 2. It's mostly blurred on top so I can't make much out, but from what little I can see, the blurred lettering in the "Title" section reads to me as "Midas."

Also I have noticed that the lyrics of Billie Jean on the board are not the one we know. In the teaser, it is written "she said don't mind", when in all versions of Billie Jean we know Michael sings "I said don't mind". Could it mean that we will have an unreleased alternative version of BJ ? Or maybe they will use Bille Jean to show the creation process of an MJ song with all the existing mix for Bille Jean ?

I'd like to ask: can Matt tell anything about "In the Life of Chico"?
