Dangerous Short Films are currently being upscaled to 4K on YouTube!

Besides Gone Too Soon having 2 different videos (Vision (YT) vs Dangerous' Short Films)
I think WYBT also has an alternative version too on vision

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it goes
- Dangerous' SF: Free Willy footage + concert footage
- Vision: Concert footage + MTV Anniversary

This is from "Dangerous The Short Fılms" - both DVD versisons are the same. On VISION DVD, they used different concert / audience footage. I think only VHS (DTSfilms) version is different

That has always been there
not on Visionary, Vision, and the previous upload which I checked only, as stated in my last post. Mine definitely don‘t have that and I‘ve properly checked my own copies of the physical releases

Just watched the 4K “Jam” upscale and gotta say, I kinda like that it looks grimy and low-res. This specific video feels very ‘90s in terms of production and set design, so I’m not too bothered if it stays this way (though I’m still in favor of a proper upgrade).

That said, I HATE the glossy AI artifacts. They look atrocious and they don’t improve the video quality enough to make the upscaling worth it.

Edit: just gave the 4K “In the Closet” a try and turned it off after a few seconds. Looks absolutely awful, especially when it tries to generate MJ’s face from a distance. Shameful.

if they would even just re-digitize the standard definition tapes and upscale them natively to 4K, so just an SD source in a 4K video, that would look a lot better than those AI upscales tbh

Also, can they possibly do something about the shortened version... ESPECIALLY BLACK OR WHITE / BAD whose versions outview the longer ones.
I guess it's better than AI Upscale, but if they don't upscale shortened version, then they won't do it with proper 4K

was that suppose to be sarcasm? because I read that as sarcastically lol

Just now, the short film They Don't Care About Us was made available in Full HD on YouTube. This was done by YouTube itself, not by the Estate.

Will YouTube do what Sony with the Estate isn't doing?

Also, how did you know this video was made available in Full HD, did you just cross around it?

Bad also has it as part of a new update Youtube is rolling out. At times it does look better/more detailed but I'm sure some of those times ai will just be guessing what the missing details are. At least there's the option to watch the 480p version too.

On my mobile phone it looks really bad. Possibly also an interlacing issue? Hard to explain

Thankfully you can go back to the original 480p video, so it's not entirely a bad thing... You can also give a note to the upscaled quality if you go in the settings... At least I can

Their AI upscaler seems pretty fragile at the moment, I wonder if it'll be able to reach level of quality like Topaz AI

It's YouTube's automatic Super Resolution feature, currently it only supports up to 1080p but will be updated to 4K in the near future

Apparently, Estate has the right to disable this feature for the MJ YouTube channel... I wonder if they're gonna move... even though they'll eventually post their own upscaled versions ultimately

Since this song was viewed negatively in the US, it's probably difficult to release in high definition. I understand they were cautious about the 2020 remake, too.

We're also introducing a new AI-powered feature that automatically generates higher resolutions for videos. We're starting with videos uploaded below 1080p, upscaling them from SD to HD, with the goal to support resolutions up to 4K in the near future. Creators will retain complete control over their library, as both original files and original video resolution will be kept intact, with a clear option to opt-out of these enhancements. And viewers will still be able to watch creators' videos in the original uploaded resolution, as super resolution will be clearly labeled under settings.

Acaba de ser disponibilizado o curta-metragem "They Don't Care About Us" em Full HD no YouTube. Isso foi feito pelo próprio YouTube, e não pelos herdeiros.

Será que o YouTube fará o que a Sony com o espólio não está fazendo?

I forgot to mention that it's an upscale. Sorry.

I keep wondering what Who Is It will look like; the DVD isn't very good quality, even though it's better than the YouTube version.
