"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Don’t think I’ll be going to see this film. Looks really poorly done and the wardrobe is awful. Looks like a cheap clone especially the thriller jacket. No attention to detail (the white socks for Motown 25). Just lacking where Michael was perfectionist. It will just make me sad they still can’t do him justice.
Socks were lacking sparkle, so I guess the final verdict is in: It's a 0/10 affair, guys.

Well, the whole wardrobe looks kinda cheap, the fabric of the clothes is way too thin etc. - that's a fact and something they could have done better. It always depends on what's important to you in movies, so the complaint is justified.

Will it annoy me? Yes. But... I still think the movie will be great.

This might sound odd, but one aspect that makes sense to me about obvious details being different, is that the many people who are new to MJ will better be able to tell (like with the Beat It t-shirt) that a clip is actually not the real thing and might appreciate this in the process of discovering his actual video legacy.
And sure, on close ups it will be obvious, but quicker moving clips is another story

Anyone going into this film looking for THE Michael Jackson, it wont be found. There's been numerous movies we've watched and loved that the level of detail did not matter because we are not "experts" going in. One thing can be said, Jaafar did an incredible job at bringing something that no other has in film (or any sort of acting) when it comes to Michael Jackson.
Expect prop, outfit inaccuracies, timeline and story liberties, and various things that as a huge MJ fan, may get under your skin.. Expect this. But if your hope is for people that want to celebrate or the general public who want to learn about MJ to do so, and for MJ's essence to be captured in ways it hasn't before in film - we will get that.

There will never be another Michael Jackson.. Looking at the thread, talking about the teaser view numbers. It's clear we (as MJ did) find huge value in numbers, views, listens, purchases. This film, we should band together to show support... Not for anyone else but Michael. The better the film does, the more a message will be sent to the general public and to those who create media product. Pro Michael Jackson product sells, and is good to do.

I promise, if you take the film for what it is and what it can do for MJ's legacy - you'll enjoy it. I'm telling you, Jaafar does something special that not even the teaser captured.. Though the voice was a good 'teaser' - pun intended.

So variety (who everyone seems to trust) recently mentioned the biopic and specifically referred to it as PART 1.

So even hostile sources are saying we're getting a part 2 like it's fact.

Let’s talk about the film title again.

My theory is that the film is titled “Michael” so that in the future nobody talks about the Michael album from 2010 anymore! Think about it… once the movie is released, people will mainly find the film when they Google it, and no longer the album with the Cascio songs.

Maybe. But the Elvis movie was also just called Elvis.

Who actually plays Brooke Shields and Tatum O'Neal?

I don't like the Billie Jean image in that poster. It just feels wrong seeing Motown 25 Michael like that. Why not use Bad Tour Billie Jean outfit?

If Michael's creative phases are to be depicted, then please do so completely. The Bad era is clearly missing. Or does the film end at Thriller?

How is the Bad era clearly missing when he's wearing the Bad jacket in the teaser?
That's right, but I'm talking about the poster. The official poster is missing an outfit from the Bad era, like the one from the Bad video.

It could well be. Would make sense to take the product you're embarrassed with and try to erase it from existence.

If you search for the Michael album in 2026, you will find the soundtrack first, not the Frankenstein album from 2010.
Therefore, the theory could be correct.

But why would you call two different products the same?

Michael also didn’t call his bad album the same as thriller
Diana Ross has 2 or 3 different self-titled solo albums (Diana Ross) & also 2 others just titled Diana. Peter Gabriel's first 4 solo albums are titled Peter Gabriel. Some fans differentiate them by the cover photo, like 1 is nicknamed "melt".

Also there's 3 different One More Chance songs related to Mike. (Jackson 5, The Jacksons, solo). Janet Jackson remade The Jacksons' One More Chance

The only Problem is: NOBODY is talking about the Michael album already.

I wonder what it would need to break in order for the sequel to be officially greenlit (announced). Dune: Part One was released as Dune, originally - and not Dune: Part One as they needed to wait for the box office results.

So we could expect this movie to be released with little to no mention of a potential sequel until those attached are authorised to say.

It's the same with Avatar. Even James Cameron is talking about how Avatar 4 and 5 are absolutely not guaranteed yet until they see the results for Avatar 3, which is already tracking to make a billion (the first 2 made $2+ billion).

For anyone here who is not that used to following the production of movies, it is a very turbulent period right now. So many movies and shows being cancelled, studios downsizing and cutting staff.
