Thriller was released on Apple Music and Amazon Music in 2022. Off The Wall and Bad, and the following releases, are exclusive to Apple Music as far as I know. Currently only available in Germany and the UK, based on fans sharing un/availablilty in their countries.

And therefore missing the whole point of the format, being 3D sound coming from all directions.

I said before, it's just a scam, because Dolby wanted to make you pay a monthly subscription to use your headphones.


The Jackson 5 Greatest Hits had a quadrophonic (4.0) mix in the 70s- I'd love to see that get a release on a modern digital format.

That version of the J5 Greatest Hits got a vinyl reissue a few years ago. I'm surprised it's not on digital markets

This one is actually just a stereo-folddown, hence the "Quad Mix". I have this Vinyl and it seems they even raised channels 3 and 4. Compared to my original pressing, it sounds completely different in terms of mix

ok... heard the half of the "bad" dolby mixes so far.

alright, i found a method to get the dolby atmos working in the US:
you have to select a song, hit the three dots on it, “Create station” and then skip whatever plays until you get to the initial song. I just did it for Don’t Stop, and I’m listening on my airpods.

it sounds amazing, idk about y’all I’m enjoying this
 
UPDATE: The Dolby Atmos Remixes of Off The Wall and Bad have been pulled off Apple Music. The Off The Wall album itself is even unavailable.
 
I was disappointed with the Smooth Criminal mix, I didn't get chance to listen to the rest, was it good or noticeably different?

On headphones, which would then just be a stereo downmix, it was okay, a bit different than the original. On a proper speaker setup, I thought it was great, the only problem I really had with it was that mic bleed was left in in Liberian Girl but the overall mix was good on speakers, which is what it was made for. If you listen via stereo setup (speakers/headphones) listen to the original

Damm, this actually worked haha. Thank you!

Edit: Just listened to Bad and wow. I don’t say this lightly, but that may be one of the worst MJ mixes I’ve heard. Whoever mixed this completely dropped the ball. There are YouTube “mixers” who do a much better job at mixing MJ songs, given that they have the multitracks. At times there were even balancing issues. Very odd.

Edit 2: guys, please put on speed demon and fast forward to the last chorus where the bg harmonies goes: “SPEEDING, SPEEDING,” right before the breakdown and the outro. You can barely hear them in this Dolby mix. That’s a head scratching decision for me. It’s like the person mixing this didn’t even listen to the original. I’m harping at this specific thing because it’s my favorite part of the song haha.

I was doing the create a station method earlier this morning with some luck but now it’s not working anymore. Sad day.

I can’t seem to listen to the Dolby atmos mix of Speed Demon atm but it’s right before outro. It’s the part with the modulation (when he ditches his motorcycle and and flies in the music video). The BG vocals are so low in the atmos mix it feels so wrong.

Are you referring to his background vocals that say “speed demon”? I never heard this “speeding” lyric
