I wonder if they are kind of "sparse" with the promo to fuel the anticipation / excitement for the movie just like Michael did with his music and shows. It was a hallmark of MJ to be mysterious and make himself rare :LOL: No, honestly, maybe this is all a PR strategy ...

Many might disagree with me, but I think one of the reasons is that they decided to split the movie into two parts, so they can’t use all the most "hyped" moments of Michael’s life at once. According to rumors, Smooth Criminal will only appear in the second part. But Michael’s character from that video is one of the most recognizable and iconic in his entire career, and they aren't using it because it won't be in this film. The same goes for The Way You Make Me Feel, Black or White, They Don't Care About Us, and so on... They wanted to generate hype for the movie using Thriller, the best-selling album ever, but in the end, they just limited themselves! What an irony

I‘ve seen not a single poster or mention of Mario, I even forgot that movie exists, but Michael is everywhere here and everyone knows about it

That's because Mario is coming out in a couple of days, Michael is coming out in more than 20 days.
The closer the release date will be the bigger the promo will be

No. But the concert recreations do. The video recreations. Any of the performance scenes. But then again, it's not Michael, it's only Jafaar. I do hope they will take out a page out of Elvis and after this movie bring the Victory tour to the cinemas.

The movie is only 2 hours long. What do you expect them to do??

The movie was split because of the settlement, it’s not subjective but a fact.

It's not like they didn't try. But if the outcome is that they are getting their pants sued off or even worse the movie blocked, it's not worth it.

Why do you need to buy tickets now? That's ridiculous. Most movies offer that only 1 week in advance.
 
I do feel that some fans have overestimated this film’s potential success at the box office.

I keep seeing comments like easy billion and it will be the highest grossing biopic ever. Michael Jackson is much more famous than Queen etc.

Are people not aware that Bohemian Rhapsody was a phenomenon, a lighting bolt pre-Covid and it was never expected to reach so many people and make as much as it did? Biopics don’t usually do all that great.

Bohemian Rhapsody seems to be the benchmark cause of who produced it and how much it made.

I said it before but this film is not making a billion. It’s not got enough hype I’m afraid outside the fandom and also due to Michael’s controversies.

That's absolutely my dream. They did the same with Elvis. First the biopic then Elvis EPic with rarely seen footage. They would be absolutely dumb to not follow that blue print. Victory tour in HD on the big screen would be even more epic than Elvis. ;-)
