The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

Would anyone of you like a part 2 without accusations? I am not sure if it makes sense, as it influenced Michael a lot after 1993.

Is there no way to include that topic into the film without breaking a contract? Maybe using a different name i stead of chandler?
Not really, the first film ended before they even happened. If they make a second one and just totally ignore it I don't really see the point.

It seems they cannot dramatise it in any way so not sure what they're gonna do.

They need tp include accusations it is apart of his story unfortnately

I say we continue to ride the wave of Michael for now - this won't happen again. Whatever happens with the 2nd film will be interesting but a 2nd film that ignores child abuse would be up there on the list of moronic things this estate could approve. I don't think there can be a film without addressing the dark days of MJ's life post 88 and the studio and estate know this - we all know this.

Back to Michael, hoping to see it on Sunday again. Numbers are tipping away here at the cinemas - Ive been checking each evening because Im trying to fit it in!

How are the gonma prove mjs innocence without the setlement. They need to show the family were aftet money.
The settlement is very strict. They can't just change names. They can't show anything about them. So the only possible solution is to show 2005 trial.

But I hope that Netflix or other steaming platform, seeing a huge success of the biopic, will do a whole season about Chandlers (something like American Crime Story) without any interaction with the Estate and without using of MJ's music. It will be absolutely viral.

"I cant believe this happened again".

Problem solved !

I hope they do thay would go viral for sure

I see a lot of people want part 2 to be called Jackson but I don't really understand why.

(I can't think of a better name either LOL)
Personally I would call it
Michael: King of Pop

The first movie is about his rise. The second one will most probably focus on his prime (starting from mid 80s). So that title would make sense. At least for me lol

For a movie with the initial budget 135 mln (without marketing) your figures should be:

Normal expectations $400,000,000
Above average. $500,000,000
Done Very Well. $600,000,000
Blow my mind. $800,000,000+

The movie must do 2.5x - 3x to cover the budget. But the only biopic that got more than 300 mln is Bohemian Rhapsody. But it's Michael Jackson! But "what about the allegations"? But "only the fans go to movie theater". That's why it's very difficult to predict the numbers in this (and almost any) case.

Thank you but, as my brain is not working very well at the moment (sorry 😬)

How many music biopics have made;

$600,000,000+
and/or
$800,000,000+

Also, for my stat pack, how many BIOPICS of any genre have made $800,000,000+

I know some people will say ‘google it’ but, I try and fail at these things - with so many different inaccuracies (try searching “Earth Song UK sales” to see the inaccuracies 🤷‍♂️)

Plus, I trust MJ fans the most - when it comes to ‘facts’. 👌

$900M+ good point maybe higher with
the south Korea and japan.

I hope you’re right but, someone said BO Rap is the only film to achieve that - and it had almost total positive press support and a very long run because of it.

Mind you…we are taking about Michael Jackson here. Who keeps surprising me!

If they know for sure it will be a 2-parter, I would definitely go for "Michael: the Price of fame".
Michael = takes them back to the first movie and makes it unmistakable who it is about
Price of fame - take advantage of the catchy tune and a message that relates to Michael's life su much that it hurts; release the single; produce an accompanying video;

I think it’s kind of a missed chance not bringing the bad/dangerous/this is it concerts to cinema along with moonwalker

It doesn't seem that Dangerous Tour shows are on 35mm film/HD so it might not look good on a movie theatre screen.

Second-weekend estimates for Michael are between $45M-$50M, around a -50% hold or better in the face of 20th Century Studios/Disney’s female-skewing The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is eyeing $73M-$80M. The David Frankel-directed movie notched 76% certified fresh with critics, which bodes well for the movie, a rating that’s on par to the 2006 original 2006 which was 75% certified fresh.

Very promising

Michael will beat Elvis in 2 weeks. Wild to think people doubted this movie.
Many people on certain subreddit thought the movie would flop in regards of the allegations. They forgot that he's one of the most famous person in the world and still relevant today. He has become the standard to compare to...
