19 Mar08: MJ news and mentionings

Nice words but, honestly, this is why I want Michael to work with somebody more like Quincy. All these young guys are simply too in awe of him. Rodney Jerkins even admitted that he couldn't bring himself to say no to Michael, which is understandable, but probably hurt Invincible. Michael is a genius, but even he benefits from the vision and direction of a brilliant producer who dares put his foot down once in a while. What Quincy brought to the albums (among other things) was a sense of cohesiveness, that the songs fit together. I don't think any MJ album since has had the same feeling, although many of the songs have been as good as or better than the songs on his albums with Quincy. History is a good example of this.

you made a good point. i would prefer MJ to work with producers of similar caliber as himself, somebody who dares being critical and focus on the his music & only the music without being "blinded" by MJs persona. But although Im quite optimistic will.i.am makes a good job...

I disagree. I think Dangerous is more cohesive than Thriller. Which isn't to say Thriller isn't cohesive. I think the incohesive albums are History and Invincible, and that's why, even though they feature some of his best individual songs, overall they aren't as good as the albums from Off the Wall to Dangerous.

Yeah, but KOPV, isn't Quincy listed in your new album updates as being one of the people Michael is working with?

:)

Transcript of MJ-related portions:

---
andPOP: What do you feel your greatest achievement so far has been?

Harris: I think it is working with Michael Jackson! Just having my name alongside Michael Jackson. I mean, that's, that's big.

andPOP: Is he one of your idols?

Harris: Oh, of course!

andPOP: What's it like working with Michael Jackson?

Harris: It's great. It's just like, you know, just the awe factor. Like, "I'm sitting next to Michael Jackson right now." I mean like, he's talking to me. "Hey," you see, he's talking to me. (Laughs) And I mean, just knowing all the things he's accomplished in his life. And, you know, I mean, starting out as a kid, just killing it with his vocals. And just his musicianship alone is just something to be in awe of. And just his aura and the positive energy that he brings to the studio is great. And, a lot of artists don't do that, you know, "because I'm such and such and such," but he's really, really cool. Really nice guy, so it's an honor to work with him.

TSCM, you are a true gem. Thank you for posting the transcript.

I loved everything that this producer stated. On point.

I don't want a new OTW. This was the past. I want new music from Michael, music from NOW. His art, his creation NOW, not nostalgia and I am not gonna dwell myself on comparations either.

It's about Michael from now, his feeling from now, his heartbeat from now, not from 20s years ago. I also got the feelig he will not put too much 'hot' producers on his new album either..........
