MJ News in review
for 8 Feb 08

This was so nice.. I had to post it twice… KissFM has the exclusive on the entire T25 album… and on the site they have quotes from other celebs about MJ… it was on yesterday’s news thread but had to put it up again today
you can listen to T25 on KissFM (a Clear Channel station)

"Everybody wants to be near Michael. Every celebrity wants to meet Michael. He's the King of Pop for a reason. He's a mystery."

- Justin Timberlake

justintimberlake.jpg

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE: "Just like Michael took inspiration from James [Brown], sure, Michael's inspired me immensely to do what I do. Anytime someone comes out and dances and does something with choreography, they say, 'Well, that's inspired by Michael.' So, thank you. That's a compliment."

USHER: But when I heard ["I Want You Back"]I was inspired. I wanted to sing like Michael, to be like Mike."

CHRIS BROWN: "There isn’t an artist out now that hasn't been influenced or inspired by Michael Jackson. [He's] as close to perfection as an artist can be."

BEYONCE: "He taught us so much and it's such a blessing."

ALICIA KEYS: "I'm upset at the way he's being treated in the media. I think they're really trying to slander his name, and I really think that's unfair for the way that he's contributed to the American culture since the day he was born. I think he deserves much more than that."

MISSY ELLIOTT: "He's my biggest influence..."

MACAULAY CULKIN: "We're close, he's a good friend of mine, we definitely have a connection that most people don't have..."

CHRIS TUCKER:"'Michael is a genius, a creative being in a whole other reality..."

NICOLE RICHIE: "He's a good person."

KENNY ROGERS: "He's a gifted dancer, singer, and performer. He's always had a wonderful spirit about him."

LIZA MINELLI: "He has more talent than anybody in the world."

LL COOL J: ''I'm a fan. I support him a hundred zillion percent."

will.i.am: 'You always just dream of meeting him, let alone working with him. I wouldn't have believed it."

NE-YO: He called his song "Crazy," "Another one of my unofficial tributes to Michael Jackson."

LIL' ROMEO: "I always looked up to him--and my dad--since I was a little boy."

ELIZABETH TAYLOR: "We're very much alike."

VOTE on the site on one of MJ’s new remix
because this has a separate thread already about MJ’s possible surprise performance .. I am just posting a SHOCKING comment .. from this person from Fox.. who is obviously in love with Michael..

Michael Jackson settles tax debt
08/02/2008 - 12:03:49 PM

Pop superstar Michael Jackson has settled an outstanding tax bill of $600,000 (€807,000) relating to his now-abandoned Neverland Ranch.

The 'Thriller' hitmaker made the payment for the tax lien on his Los Olivos, California mansion last week, according to state records in Santa BarbaraCounty.

The property has been vacant since 2005, when Jackson was acquitted of child molestation charges.

Me not likely what the Guardian sezs about MJ because his circumstances has been obviously different from Prince and Madonna's....

In fact, I'm going to remove the article because it's really very negative about Mike. If you want to read it, it will be in WHE...

T_MJ: I moved your Guardian article to the Enough Is Enough section. I'm fairly disappointed in the Guardian because they are generally fair, but missed the mark on that article. Gave u credit though...

In an article about Sheryl Crow's new CD:

He ran into Crow at a post-Grammy party. "We never spoke of the old days," Bottrell says over the phone. "There's a solipsism about it – you just close your eyes and do it." He had brought some partly finished songs, including the bouncy, Rickie Lee Jones-like groove of 'Love Is Free'; the stately blare of 'Shine Over Babylon'; and the hippie-reggae jam 'Out Of Our Heads'. For the Eastern-tinged 'Peace Be Upon Us', Bottrell used connections in Bahrain – where he had spent six months waiting to work with Michael Jackson – to find a guest vocalist, Ahmed Al Hirmi, for a verse in Arabic.

I guess Bill Bottrell was meant to work on "I have this dream"...

Another mentioning. Mods, I hope i put this in the right place. Please move if necessary.

From:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/02/08/grammywatch.winehouse.ap/index.html

...he singer-songwriter Akon, who is up for four Grammys, told The Associated Press that tabloid troubles can actually help an artist in the long run. "The more they go through, the more people can connect with them, because they start to realize that they aren't perfect -- 'They're just like me' -- so it really helps you sometimes," said Akon, who maintained his popularity despite public relations crises of his own last year, including charges he threw a fan off a stage during a concert.
Don't Miss

"Especially with Amy there's a thousand teenage kids going through what she's gong through right now, so they really can literally identify with her," Akon said. "Music hits you in the soul."
Winehouse, 24, goes into the Grammy ceremony with nominations in the key categories of record, song, album of the year and best new artist. The CD has sold an impressive 1.5 million copies in the United States alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"We try and let the music do the talking," said Maurice Bernstein, the co-founder and CEO of Giant Step, which handled early marketing for the "Back to Black" U.S. release. "Although there's been all this press going on, people are still buying her album, and I don't think they are buying it because of the negative press -- they're buying it because they like the music."
Powerful music also affords a glimpse into the personalities of musicians who often create hidden from public view -- unlike actors, for example, who need to hide who they really are in order be effective on screen.
Though Michael Jackson was certainly tarnished, even he notched a No. 1 single and multiplatinum album after he was first accused of child molestation, in 1994 (he hasn't released an album since his 2005 acquittal of child molestation charges).

Oh yeah. I heard that the American embassy in the UK turned down Winehouse visa...
