Atheist thread

Religions and the belief in an afterlife are nothing but a compensation because the human brain cannot bear the fact that it is impermanent. Religions are therefore just a means of preserving the species. Like camouflage colors on animals. This is difficult to understand for those addicted to religion. Go into detox, people! Renunciation means freedom.

Not everyone does no. Once again, am also not saying people should have religion, I’m saying people should have faith in an eternal God which seems to have the most evidence for. Not just some random thing that makes them feel “happy”. But yeah I totally get what your saying but if know what the Bible says, you know that Jesus calls us to spread the word, and I’m a follower of Christ so that is what I do. I’m not trying to convince once again, just trying to get people to think deeper about life looking at the evidence we have and how there is hope through Christ in our future.
No, people should do and believe in what they want to. Just try to accept that everyone has a different perspective on life. Maybe you think some things are random but for another person it means the world.

And maybe just spread the word when someone is asking you about some information. Not when someone clearly tells you, he/she/... has no interest in this topic. Like I said, you will achieve the opposite.

Once again, no evidence to back that up at all. What do you worship in life? We all know we worship something. What is the evidence behind your belief about life?

I get that, I just don’t think it is good to believe in something just because of the feeling you get.

Animals lack the ability to recognize their own mortality. This is a type of intelligence that also involves the ability to be creative, to invent a meaning to life beyond the sobering pursuit of the species.
Life only has meaning for the survival of the species, and even species aren't meant to last forever. It's that simple. We are simply slightly more intelligent animals who would like to be something better. Pretty conceited animals.

There we go, finally an atheist admitting truly what they believe. Thanks for admitting that cause not many will and I don’t believe it but I respect you for sharing!

Edit: also just curious, don’t you think it is a sad way to live knowing there is no purpose to life?

Counter question: isn’t it sad to constantly lie to yourself about the meaning of life?

There's a purpose in life for humans, and that is the preservation of the species. Just like any other animal species.
Humans and chimpanzees have 98.6 percent identical genetic material.

Religions are a means to an end, a means to the survival of the species. Just as cemeteries exist only for the living. Religion is a kind of medication for the psyche, that the human brain invented. Good for those who need it. But to me it is just manipulative fantasy.

Exactly what am I lying about? All of what I have said has been backed up by evidence. Where is the evidence that your purpose of life is true? I know I don’t just get my purpose of life from random person like you who just says so. There is no purpose in life except a if you have a purpose maker. Don’t say that humans are purpose makers because that is all relative, like a serial killers purpose could be to kill but that doesn’t make it right does it? You know the world started out with believing in God, and Jesus doesn’t just change half the world because He is not reliable and a fake. You are also insulting half the world so I would be careful what you say.
“I” “Me” “Mine”. Atheists are their own God, and what a selfish way to live. Imagine saying that to others. If you told me Hitler said this, I wouldn’t be surprised.

It’s sad how culture has moved so far away from God. I also I want to leave you with this: if you died now, and a hundred or more years later someone said you were not real but you clearly lived, and they say “oh well I can’t see this person or I don’t have any proof of this person” (you can’t prove anything in life), would that make you fake or that you never existed?
Why do you feel the need to bring race into this? This is also just flat out twisting the words of the Bible which is just sad. I’m interested to see what this guy can come up with next to help convince himself God isn’t real.

Everyone can live how they want. You live how you want. I live how I want. Over and out.

Religious people tend to be intolerant because they see science as a threat to the security that faith gives them. Religious people, please be tolerant of non-believers.

I totally get it, but I just don’t get how I’m being intolerant. I also don’t see science as threat, I say it helps my belief.

I love this thread. I've given up the fight against religious brain cramps, though. In many cases, there's no help for the religious fanatics who suffer from non-substance addictions. They have organized their lives to appease the one God they actually fear. Their lives degenerate into a means to this one fictitious end.

I watched a documentary on Amazon Prime called 'The Kindness within'. It follows someone who doesn't believe in God on a search for God following a suicidal episode. It's an interesting watch whatever your beliefs/non-beliefs.

Reasons why I am an atheist: I like fantasy as literature, but not as a basis for life
